What do you think Nigel Smart would do now, since his football career is over.

I think he might forget football altogether.. but hope not..

Maybe theres an spot for an Crows assisant coach, as beginning a Crow all his AFL career, and also was a original, hes now a walking piece of history...

I wonder if we will ever seen him on the small screen again....

IMO Smart will either end up in politcs or end up running some kinda business.

I was sure I read somewhere he was approached by the Greens?Democrats? to run in State politics

My guess he WILL pop up on Fox when they start their Tribunal Proceedings. His appearances on Eddie Everywheres show have shown hes articulate and can analyse a footy situation as good as any.

I think he will go into politics eventually. doesnt he have a degree in politics or something?
I could see him involved with the liberals though, I think there was even a push this year for him to run as the candidate in the Kingston seat but he obviously played on one more year so it wasnt possible.

He is in France for the next six months with his family. When he returns, he has the Universal Wine Bar to run, plus some property development projects.

He was actually offered pre-selection in Hindmarsh for the Libs, but turned it down in order to focus on his last year of football. I'm glad that happened as Nigel doesn't really strike me as someone who can tow the party line in a party with zero social conscience. I think he will end up in politics, but will quickly become disillusioned at not being able to make a difference in a party machine. He has plenty of business experience with SA Brewing, Toyota, the wine bar and property development, so I can't see him struggling for a living. As for being involved in football. I hope to see him coaching South Adelaide to a flag within the next 5 years:D

Nigel Smart has more brains than any other AFL player I have ever heard speak, when you hear the likes of Fevola,Everett, Hawkins, and the fat slob who used to play for Geelong,I forget his name,Nigel seems like an Einstein.

Just about anyone would look like Einstein next to Fev or Dougy...

:) But I have to giv Fev credit for one thing - a while back, when the Lawrence Angwin thing blew up at Carlton, Fev was on the Footy Show panel while Newman was making drug jokes and being his usual moronic self; Fev had to deal with it as the Carlton player on the panel and he did a pretty decent and dignified job. If he'd been a bit older and smarter maybe he could/should have told Newman where to stick it, but maybe he realised his limitations and all up he handled himself very well.

Nigel no longer has an interest in the Universal Wine Bar.

Certaintly would be a ideal state Liberal candidate...they have no leadership prospects & similar to the Crows an ageing list.
It doesn't take much imagination & the realisation Nigel 's connection to certain decision makers in the party [who have already offered him a safe seat]..that he could be persuaded to join the libs state branch,be put in a blue ribbon seat & an easy shadow portfolio such as recreation & sport for a couple of years while still in oppostion before he's ushered in as the new leader!
Justin Maddern did much the same after retiring from Carlton.....only with the ALP
