I can't bear to watch it any further. How the hell can we be getting mauled by Melbourne who IMO don't have that good of a team. Too many mistakes and umpiring decisions have contributed. That poster that they counted was a joke. So pissed off right now

Look at the positives - we can expect another article where some clown says "we didn't play for each other last week but we're going to change that next week, no really, we promise, we mean it this time".

That will be the 4th time this season I have to read an article like that, and I stopped believing them after the first time.

Melbourne have been effing brilliant, it thats simple. You lot are kidding yourselves if you think the current margin is a by product of anything else.

They have played brilliantly. We are just crap ATM and we need to improve dramaticlly if we are going to compete well in the finals or even make the finals

Melbourne were/are not "brilliant". That is an overused word. They had no competition and several huge umpire assists early in the game. Swans were appalling, could not combat the umpiring on an emotional level. No, Melbourne were not "brilliant"....just as the Swans were not particularly good against Carlton last week who went into that game with not much more heart than our mob did today....
Let's save the "brilliant" for sides that can do it week after week, whether they win or lose, but if they have true heart and endeavour....and an abundance of team spirit....an' that ain't us....or Melbourne....

Swans500, from an outsiders point of view, Melbourne were more than 'brilliant'. Carved up the opposition and their flow of the ball was first class... Any team that comes in a game as underdogs, has 13 goal kickers and scores over 140 points, in my opinion, is considered to have put in a 'brilliant' effort.

Take your hand off it. Give credit where credit is due. Swans were absolutely smashed today, it was over at 1/4 time. Yes, there were more than a few terrible calls that went against you - but we were fantastic today, brilliant in fact.

Very disappointing performance today, Melbourne were playing like Geelong in some with some sublime displays of skills today whilst we were made to be backseat passengers.

Melbourne were not only brilliant, but superb and at times sublime.

To blame the umpiring is even more appalling than what you claim the Swans themselves to have been during the course of the match.
Melbourne's run, carry and harry, was the reason for our insipidness. In looking for any other out, is not only offensive to Melbournes wonderful will and standard imposed on the match, but the oddity of an Osterich - not a Swan.

I have said it a number of times over the year, and will say it again: Melbourne have improved dramatically and have some very talented youngsters. I was not surprised we lost today; only that we lost as badly as we did. Davey hurt us every time he touched the ball, Green destroyed us in the first term, we couldn't kick straight, blahblah. Were we disgraceful??? I'm not sure, but Melbourne played a very good game of footy today, and should be congratulated. Better team on the day...

Oh, and for those who wish to slag off at the umps, forget it. We had a few go against us, but so what. If it was a five point game you might say something, but not today. They were just too good.

In defence for the OP, he made the thread during the game (So melbourne weren't up by as much as the final margin) - not when the game was at full blown.

“They just kept coming and coming and we really didn’t try to mix it with them - that was the most disappointing thing.
“We’ve just really got to bounce back. Our season’s still alive, we’ve got to make sure that it is still alive, and we really can’t accept what we turned up today.”

Sorry guys, I'm not believing it this time. You served up the same BS after the losses to Richmond, Bulldogs and whoever else.

They were my thoughts sitting at the game yesterday. The way the Dees played reminded me of Geelong. They moved the ball on quickly at every opportunity and always seemed to have players waiting in the right places. They knew exactly where to kick to and their players knew exactly where to lead to.

Have to give Melbourne a lot of credit for the way they played yesterday. Probably our 2nd toughest opponents this year after Geelong. We were shocking and the umpiring was absolutely disgusting but credit where credit is due.... Melbourne were sensational. We'd be lucky to have won even if we played our absolute best.

What's your point exactly? Been to the Melbourne website, where a Swans supporter started her own thread congratulating Melbourne on your win? I know it's there coz I posted there, as did a number of other Swans' fans. On the whole Swans' fans have been quite gracious and realistic about the loss. There's always going to be some who don't see it that way, but I suggest you take a trip to the Bombers board or Norf if you want to see denial in action.

Try and be a gracious winner, just as many of us have been generous in defeat.

WTF - Swansfan51 - melbourne? lost a bet?

He bet on his signature, if we lost he had to become a Melbourne supporter, buy membership and also have Jack Watts everything.
Yeah pretty much... wasn't very impressed with that loss and then to add insult to injury I have to talk up Melbourne on Bay 13 for a week! I'm a man of my word though

MF,

Well said.

We are not a champion team - and give the Dees credit for having a superb crack given their recent tough years.

Remember - anyone who has a crack at our boys now, one comment: you should respond to tough times with a bit of maturity.

Doesn't mean umpires aren't filthy Victorian cheats.

Leg End if you ever post something without reference to victorian umpires and their bias I will do a nudey run around all of Australia.
