AC/DC verse Coldplay

NOW! before you all yell at me..... i clearly stand on one side! and its 100% one side...

AC/DC all the way!

200 mill albums to around 50..which explains alot aswell..

but i was arguing with a good friend of mine. and he claims that coldplay are better and said that the best thing about AC/DC are their techno music mix of thunderstruck and called AC/DC -not a band


what do you have to say to this?

Even though I prefer AC/DC by a long stretch, these bands aren't really camparable.

More realistic comparison would be Radiohead v Coldplay. As for AC/DC, they are hard to compare anyone with - they sit in their own little world.

i just cant see someone claiming that Coldplay are the better band over their careers. AC/DC are arguably one of the greatest and there are facts to prove it

ACDC is bogan metal, Coldplay is watered down Radiohead. Not terrible, but it is terrible to be comparing the two. This thread is still a failure. I might go and start my own thread. rawr.

if i asked you the question between who is the better band, surely you could answer it regardless of some factors like different genre rubbish..

can you elaborate on why it is terrible to be comparing the two? i can start you off by saying that AC/DC sold a hell of alot more albums..

fairly irrelevant if you asked me. of course acdc has had a greater effect if thats what you want to hear. coldplay is one of the better mainstream bands of this decade, but its not like it has a whole lot of competition.

I think the number of albums sold gives an idea of how much the public likes the artist.. you would think

In that case, Pink is a fantastic singer that is uber hardcore and definitely not pretentious at all.

I'm also in love with Kings of Leon coz that Sex On Fire song is da shit and everyone loves it which makes it so awesome.

And yep, bands that don't make it big on the charts are obviously shit because no one else has heard of them.

I just happened to listen to them after reading a review in the Herald Sun and thought if they're good enough to be in that newspaper, then they must be pretty good.

And then after I listened to the first few songs, I couldn't hear a number one hit at all as their songs went for waaay too long. I mean, how the hell do you expect to be on the radio when you do that?

Me and the rest of the AC/DC fans look at them and laugh at their small fan base.

i would just like to add that music today is absolutely pathetic IMO and most people (Teens) like house / computerized sounds that they call music which isnt even peformed by real musicians who play insrtuments. I wasn't even around the time when Hard Rock was at its best with the likes of Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and i just wish there was more of that today.
Back to the thread topic, is there anyone else that can have an opinion. it's not hard to state which is the better band

My comment obviously wasn't a diss on AC/DC; it was simply a reinforcement of what others have said in the thread; album sales is never a good guide to quality, or influence, or, well, anything really, other than good marketing and/or an instance of groupthink.

If you just listen to what's on the radio (including JJJ) and other mainstream outlets, then yes, I completely agree with you.
