Thank you, happy to be here!

Yes, Darcy was co-captain along with Weller last year in the U16 championship winning team. Hopefully he will get to play in some NEAFL finals with the Reserves, as guys like Conway did last year.

Sssh John....

'Overlook at your peril' Blair warns AFL clubs

By Sam Canvan

Aspley Hornets coach John Blair is as cagey as they come when prompted to rate individual players.
He’s reluctant to single out any of his troops, and only affords praise if it’s richly deserved.
It’s telling then, to hear the four-time premiership mentor talk about 18-year-old Isaac Conway.
“I’ve been coaching for a very long time, and I’ve coached upwards of twenty players who’ve progressed to the AFL – guys like Tom Hickey, Courtney Dempsey, and David Armitage – and if Isaac isn’t the best of all of them, he’s very close,” Blair said, in the wake of Aspley’s Qualifying Final victory over Southport.

Lions vs Hornets in the NEAFL Northern GF this Sunday...will we see Conway and Tickner playing for Aspley? What's the go there

Hardly spotted Conway on the weekend playing for Aspley. Cameron-Reeves, Smith and Pendlebury all impressed as top ups in the absence of the "home sick" players. Bourke looks great as a long term key defender.

does anyone know whats the go with sam gribble too? start of the year it seemed like along with conway and tickner he was one of our best prospects though lately no mention of him at all

Thought Conway did reasonably well in first half I saw live -listened to rest of game on radio and impression they gave was he may have had a bit of an injury restricting him after half time - they thought he had been good in first half and commented they were surprised he didn't start third qtr on ground and concluded was probably injury that was limiting his game time / impact in second half

I was there the first half and was watching the game closely. Conway did not have anywhere near the impact that he needed to for Aspley

Thought his first half was outstanding and earned himself a tag in the second half as a result.

Hopefully the NEAFL site puts the stats for the game up soon because I reckon they will justify how good he was.

I thought Conway had an excellent first half, he was smashing the lions in the clearances. Seemed like every time the lions kicked a few goals in a row the next clearance was won by conway and led to an Aspley goal. What I saw had me excited for next year.

He didn't look 100 percent and it didn't help that the Lions dominated most of the second half anyway. Disappointed I didn't get to see Tickner play, only saw him once this year when SA thumped QLD in the 18s. He was playing forward and hardly touched it.

Just interested as to what you'd define as impact. Especially remembering he's an 18yo.

I noticed him plenty on the live stream, especially in the first half.

Meanwhile, Brisbane will nominate tall forward Jonathan Freeman as the club's first Lions Academy player, under rules similar to those that apply for father-son players, by Friday's deadline.
Any other club will be able to bid for the 198-centimetre forward, who missed the second half of the season with osteitis pubis, and if so the Lions must match that bid with their next selection in the draft order to secure Freeman. If no other club bids, they can select him with their final draft pick.
