What do you think is an acceptable position to finish in 2008?

Personally, I think its time that the wheels started turning. In 2008, I believe they should stick there neck out, Essendon like, and aim to make the finals. 8th and above should be the only acceptable finishing position.

Simmonds will be in better shape, same with Browny. Coughlan will be back and same with Polo.

Another year in the gym, another year training. It just has to be finals next year.

Just on that, remember when Johnson and Brown came out at the start of the year saying that anything but a top 8 finish is a failure... well...

We certainly are complete failures if we dont make the eight.

However I'm sure we will be because we continue playing the Tivs, Howats and Tucks that couldnt hit the side of a barn.

Time to play Mcguane, Hughes, Meyer, Jack, JoN, Connors, Schulz and Casserly and give them some experience at the top level or next year we'll be Hawthorn of last year, come home strong but be no where near enough because the kids didnt have the experience earlier.

It should be all about the future but its not atm and it's a shame.

Top 8? Laughable

Where is the massive imporvement going to come from?

Kids like Huges, Riewoldt, Deledio, Raines, Tambling, Thurstfield might improve a bit, but even with the inclusion of a fully fit Simmonds, Polo and Coughlan we will not make the top 8.

Unless the positions of players like Tivendale, Hyde, Howatt can actually be taken, not a hole lot will change.

I said 10-12 btw

the downfall this year has been inept coaching and lack of gameplans. tigers usually start off well and are competitive, however once the opposition work it out they always run over the top. with some good players coming back from injury top 8 is the minimum, we wont need to play the youngsters until they can get in the side on their own.

One hell of a loaded poll you have thrown up. If we say top 8 is acceptable then we leave ourselves open to ridicule, if we say anything less than that we are embracing another mediocre era of the RFC.

So to answer it yes top 8 is what should be seen as an acceptable result but in reality the likely result is a slight climb to about 12th place based around the kids being more involved in the gameplan and not seen as after thoughts to the side. That is the only way we are truly going to break the tradition which is RFC finishing 9th after a rebuild only to realise that they have to start again.

I don't think we'll won't get any higher than 12th. What's important is that we get there with about 7-8 wins, and most the kids we've got on our list a thedriving force behind those wins.

Apart from 1 gun draft pick (Selwood) what have Geelong done to go from 10th to clear 1st???
I think the obvious thing is . . .

1. They now have a team attitude.

2. They are a team that can adapt to another teams game plan to counter-act it, that goes for the coach too.

3. They have dropped the players that have the football body but skills that arent delivering the ball properly. (Hunt is the perfect example)

If we can develop those three factors into the Richmond football club we'll be a 6-8 team next year, no doubt.

It's then sad to say that I dont think we will, especially point number 2. :(

spot on mate, ecspecially the attitude part.

attitude plays a major part, if our boys can believe in themselves we will be 50% better.

we also have a better foward line then geelong the only problem is they have the players that get it to the fowards we dont.

If you look at the Top 8 right now, can you see any of those sides getting worse next year?

Geelong
Hawks
Roos
WCE
Port
Collingwood
Bulldogs
Sydney

Maybe Sydney, but besides that they're all on the up.

Adelaide
Bombers
St Kilda
Brisbane
Freo
Carlton
Melbourne
Richmond

I can see us jumping alot of those sides. We should aim for Top 8, but realistically you'd have to think somewhere around 10-12
