Accepting mediocrity

I knew we were pretty average, but today was a shocking reality check for me. I don't think we can expect anything at all from this team, for a long time. It's the first time I've truly felt like I am supporting a team that is going nowhere. It hurts.

When I heard Chapman describe members as "customers" this morning and heard him say Port Adelaide "own" the death of Dean Bailey as much as the Crows this afternoon I realised I was supporting a soulless corporate entity and decided that I owe no allegiance to this "brand". Until the board actually become answerable to the members I have no interest in this club. I might as well invest my passion in Coke. You know, they are sooo much better than Pepsi.

it comes from the top. the club has accepted mediocrity from those in charge, and it all flows down.

those who have ****ed up in the last few years have been protected and allowed to keep their jobs. we've rewarded mediocrity, and accepted incompetence.

I think we need to do a Port.

Clear out the admin, get some new voices on the board, put a broom through the coaching panel.

Maybe find someone who's half decent at marketing too.
Well why haven't we already?

To be completely honest, I could see this coming from a mile away...

I'll cop it from the Trigg brigade here but what we witnessed today is the fruits of the Tippett debacle. Imagine if we had broken even - replaced Tippett with a player of similar calibre and kept our draft picks? We would (I hope) have a completely different lineup out there in theory.

Fact is, we are a hyper conservative boys club that's rotten to the core culture wise and needs a complete clean out. Problem is, we have our people in key posts in the media and the market share in a two team state. Near enough will always be good enough.

Sando isn't the coach I'd hoped he was and we are going nowhere fast. It's a sad state this once proud club is in and it's incredible how quickly the fortunes of the two respective SA clubs have changed.

It can be turned around and quickly but change needs to happen at the top and filter down.

The trouble is this only happened at Port because they were getting close to death row..
The SANFL and AFL made it happen..

Who is going to make it happen at the AFC?
The boys who are nicely nestled in there aren't going anywhere until they decide they've had enough..

Well we've had e-****ing-nuff..

While on the subject of mediocrity, Rutten is about as useful as a wire-netting waterbag and whilst he has been solid at times...the game clearly has passed him by and did so 2 years ago.

Why is he not using his body more? To prevent a lead. He lacks the pace. Keep body pressure on Schulz at all times and prevent him from getting into a run! Seems our players aren't desperate enough to do what it takes.

So Port have nearly the same membership base as the Crows despite a 70% to 30% split of the SA public. This shows that Trigg and Chapman are basically incompetent. As far as I can see, competent would be maintaining our advantage of 70/30 while outstanding would be exceeding the 70/30 split in terms of membership or other measures of club relevancy (coverage in the media, sponsorship dollars etc.). To let our 70/30 advantage in supporters slip to a 50/50 split in membership is gross incompetence. Unfortunately I suspect we have Trigg/Chapman "as far as the eye can see" and I think I will continue to be considered as "pathetic" by our CEO and president for expecting something beyond mediocrity.

Aside from a couple of people I wasn't aware a Trigg brigade even exists on this board.

Even when we hit the front today i think everyone knew it wouldn't be long until we coughed it up. I feel like i'm watching reruns of a bad TV show. That was the point of the show where it clicks, "I've seen this one before."

Sadly this board doesn't accurately reflect the majority of our fan base.

I haven't been on here for a while though so I'm not sure

When we hit the front I said to my hubby, so are we about to fight back and get in front just to roll over and get smashed for the rest of the game like about a dozen games in the last 12 months...:(

Since the dawn of time mediocre teams have been able to " punch above their weight " not by having more ABILITY or a better GAMEPLAN.....no , mediocre teams have been able to punch above their weight by being HARDER....harder at the man , harder at the pill.

When has this mob EVER been able to do that ?????

Mark Ricciuto was the only one we ever had who could fly the flag for us , apart from paddy ( who's usually too busy trying to get the footy to help us win games ) is the only " hard nut " we have ( Sloanedog as well )

I've been livid over losses before and said MORE than a few silly things......but i gotta question a few of our boys manhood.
Softest club in the AFL....and have been for years.

MAKE IT END HERE SANDO
Sparring and weights 9am monday
NO TV , NO RADIO , NO SEX , NO SALADS FOR TEA

****ING MAN UP

Need to find the worlds largest broom and sweep it through the club. Until that happens there will be many many dark days ahead. Admin, coaches and players all have to go.

Out: Pods, Sando, Campo, M.Clarke, Rutten, Shaw, Porplyzia

Soft as butter
Kyle Hartigan (17 disposals, nine marks) kept ex-Collingwood VFL forward Brett Eddy goalless today; seems a no brainer to park the truck.

There is a secondary brigade who apparently "think Trigg should have been sacked" but that when he wasn't that all discussion on the topic; the draft sanctions, the fine and any impact on the club should have ceased too.
