Accessing Internet Overseas

I'm heading oveseas(US) soon and taking my laptop with me. Is there some kind of wireless device that I can purchase to access the internet on my laptop while overseas?

You can buy a 3g usb modem like the ones all the telcos here sell with their wireless data plans.

Then you would just have to buy a sim card that has data from over there.

mcdonalds have wi-fi too. if you're backpacking a majority of hostels provide wi-fi too. (in europe anyway)

So much free wifi here in the U.S that you don't really need to bring anything.

Yep if you are headed to the US just take advantage of the freebies.

Security can be a bit iffy, buts its the simplest option.

If you have a usb modem from a australian telco you can generally use them OS as long as the account is enabled for overseas roaming but I would't advise doing this. You get charged at arround $15 a megabyte. Ive seen some massive bills.
