G'day.

I'm planning on going over to Melbourne next year to watch Roo's vs Crows and also to watch Eagles vs Melbourne, and was wondering if anyone knows of some good places to stay in Melbourne.. and also are there any decent WEBSITES where I can browse various places to stay.

PS -- CHEAP CHEAP!!

Cheers.

Well there's always the Yellow Peril! I hear the underneath of princes street bridge has gone up market though.

Seriously, if you want cheap, then you should backpack/hostel it. Try http://www.hostelmelbourne.com/

cheers

good post, i want to do something similar next season, and also for the upcoming F1GP

www.needitnow.com has a list of weekly specials for accommodation all over Australia.

Always worth checking out the prices there, then ringing the hotel directly to see what rate they can offer you for the dates you want.

More often than not I have got a better deal by ringing the hotel directly, including $130 per night less than the internet advertised special for GF weekend.

Get a YHA membership and stay at a hostel.

Of course the added advantage of these place is that there always seems to be young scandinavian girls staying there.

I went over to Melbourne for the Crows' finals this year and stayed at the Friendly Backpacker on King Street. While the place can be aptly described as 'cheap' and 'budget', it's clean and will do the job for $21 a night. And I'll probably see you there on that weekend ozzult ;) Oh and Colonial Stadium is about a 5 minute walk away.

I'm interested in going to Melbourne again next year and see an away Eagles game! This year I stayed at the Hotel Ibis which was excellent and close to everything (shops, food, trains, trams)

Should try and see if anyone else on the WCE forum is interested in doing the road trip!

Flagstaff City Motor Inn

This one's just around the corner from the Telstra Dome...(Colonial) Great value, If all you want is reasonable accommodation and NOT palatial surrounds...Rooms are about $110...Great value for inner city Melbourne.

Check it out...

Add to the fact that it's right next door to the Greg Chappell Cricket Centre.
