Just watching Ackland on the weekend made me so happy that we got rid of him. He is hopeless. He has no confidence in his ability to start with, thats why he left for carlton. He now is struggling to keep his spot!!!

If you went to the game on Saturday, you would have seen the sublime tap skills of Clarke. Ackland is a dog with no loyalty, destined for the scrap heap. I watched the Scorpions yesterday, Van Rheenan will be a player. Gardiner will be good also, not to mention Kosi and Rix, looking very good ruck wise.Disagree. Although he isnt the best player going around, the one thing about Cain Ackland is that he'll always give his best effort for the team.
Good on him for getting a three year deal. Cant begrudge him that.
How good are we going with Doc Clarke and Michael Gardner as his replacements ? We'll be lucky to get a total of 20 games out of them, combined.

No question he was an upgrade from Knobel. That doesn't make him any good though. He had one good season, yes. But he didn't go on with it, and my guess is he won't see year 3 @ Carlton. He'll probably start sooking coz they won't think he's worth as much as he does, then ask for a trade. In 2005 Ackland was Top Ten B&F. He might have been higher pre-Round 17, when he injured a knee against Collingwood. Anyone who thinks he wasn't an upgrade from Knobel (Mr Walls?) is an idiot.
After he injured his knee he was never the same footballer for us, and that appears to have continued. He was recruited by a club that has picked up Dylan McLaren, Barnaby French & Ricky Mott in recent years. Not much of a strategic plan at Carlton where ruckmen are concerned.
He left St Kilda despite being "a required player" in Ross Lyon's words. However, we were never going to give him the contract he received at Carlton.
During 2007 Michael Rix has improved, to the point now where he is above Ackland. Here's hoping he doesn't dash somewhere for the cash in the future. I believe Rix is signed up for next year.
Ackland has been disappointing at Carlton, and they need to develop some ruckman somewhere. On the other hand, St Kilda has Rix, Gardiner, Koschitzke & Van Rheenan for next year and beyond.
