Many songs have pure acoustic versions, in this thread, list your favourite acoustic versions of songs....

Mine would be the acoustic versions of Plush and Sour Girl by the STP, Weilands voice is terrific in them.

Apologies if this thread has been done before.

Also, of these acoustic versions, do any of them take precedence for you over the original versions?

Their unplugged album was fantastic. The Foo's Everlong is a favourite of mine.

I enjoy hearing electric songs being reinterpreted in an acoustic setting.

Neil Young does slows down the Buffalo Springfield classic "Mr Soul" on his unplugged album to just a haunting harmonica and acoustic guitar, it was the best version yet of the song in my opinion.

There was an acoustic version of "We Used to Be Friends" by the Dandy Warhols which I think they performed on the Panel a few years ago. It was amazing, the song sounded completely different and had a much darker feel - unfortunately being recorded in Australia means it's impossible to track down on the Internet.

"Times Like These" by the Foo Fighters was good, and Bon Jovi's version of "It's My Life" was interesting. But the best acoustic album would be Nirvana on MTV Unplugged - showed there was a whole new dimension to that band.

The version of 'Transformer Man' on that album also kicks ass. Not sure about the pump organ version of 'Like a Hurricane' though.

Neil's done some kick-ass acoustic versions of 'Cortez the Killer' in concert. Just as powerful as the electric versions (an acoustic version can be heard in Almost Famous). Then there's his original acoustic version of 'Powderfinger' which is also great.

Also on the Neil Young track - the live acoustic versions of 'On the Way Home' from 1971 (heard on his last live release) are a revelation. The song is given a whole new level of awesomeness.

Its not his song, but if you want to hear the definition of beauty, download Dave Matthews doing a cover of The Beatles' "In My Life" solo acoustic. Stunning.

Cornell doing "Like Suicide" is pretty cool too.

And for any KISS fans, i reckon "Coming Home" translated awesomely in their unplugged show.
