I have this feeling Adam Bentick is going to be a gun for a us in 2007.
The only reason he struggled towards the end of 06 is due to his bad shoulder he was carrying and he couldn't go anymore.

Under the tuition and guidance of Ratten, with his tuffness and determination i personally think he going to be a gun for us in 07.

I have heard he has picked up a bit of speed in the pre-season and there is a lot of excitement for him by the current board and coaching pannel.

I hope i'm right!

GO AB7!!!!!:D

Let's hope he works out better than the last annointed No.7.

Exactly, although he's already achieved more than Davies ever did - plus he seems to have the right attitude.

Don't know what to think about Bentick, he's been alright in his career so far, it's just that I'm not sure how much improvement he has left in him. Hopefully the coaching of Ratten helps, but there'll be more competition for spots this year, and if he doesn't improve than it might be harder for him to keep his place in the side in coming years unless he improves.

Let's not forget this kid is only 21, and came off the Rookie list to play a few senior games in 2005. Injury buggered up his 2006 games, until his shoulder finally popped and he stopped playing to have surgery.

i am a big fan of his. He'll be fine.

it's fine to have all these players with blistering pace, but it's going to be players like AB in and under feeding it to them, just like Ratts.

Don't worry, he'll make it!

me thinks it quite eery how ratts started at number 40 then graduated to number 7, and now AB has done the same. hopefully we get the service out of AB that we got out of ratts. hopefully he can get in and under and feed the gibbs and murphy brigade. ;)

I heard this from an impecable source that Justin Davies could barely stand up last year from a chronic back injury and this is why he could not get out onto the park.

He has started a small business with his brother and hopes to slowly get back onto his feet (so to speak).

Good luck to the guy, but his biggest problem wasn't his back.

agree solid player no more the biggest problem ab has is his kicking lacks penetration if he can get better in that area he will be a lot better for the mighty blues

I concur. I rate Carrots a lot more than Bentick.
You want to talk about kicking? Especially for goal?

If he fixes that he could be a gun, but he's shown no sign of learning yet.

Its just nerves, hel get over it.

But can you inform me on how many goals carltons love child Ab scored, or tell me when hes done one thing to deserve the #7 jersey.

If anyone deserves it its carrazzo.

AussieJoe knows what hes talking about

in 2006- 6.1

Carazzo- 4.6 including missing a few sitters from about 20 m out.

Let's just hope our boys are working on their skills. Ratts and Braddles will not put up with crap skills. braddles works with a few of them one-to-one with kicking and things.

Next year will be a very different year fpr us, and i think a lot of us supporters may well be in a wee bit of shock :p

Including one absolutely embarrassing effort from about 15 metres out.

IIRC, was that at the Dome?
Can't remember who we were playing, but if you were watching it on TV, it would have been to the left of screen?

Yeh, that was the one. I have struggled to remember anything in my 37 seasons of following Carlton that came close to that one. It was an absolute shocker.

Just a few stats to demonstrate why AB has been given Ratts' old number ahead of Carrots. These are comparative stats (ave per game) from the 2006 season in categories that personify how Ratts played the game:

Tackles: AB = 5.5, Carrots = 3.5
First possessions: AB = 3.8, Carrots = 1.1
Clearances: AB = 2.9, Carrots = 1.9
Contested possessions: AB = 2.6, Carrots = 1.5
1%ers: AB = 4.4, Carrots = 2.8

These are the stats that would have contributed to AB being entrusted with the #7 guernsey.

Carrots and AB are different players. AB does more of the bullocking work while Carrazzo should be a linkman - instead he is played down back. You only have to look at his TAC stats and stats during the U18 championships to realise that he should be played in the midfield. AB and Carrots both have a place in Carlton's best 22.

Totally agree with that.

There's the problem. To link with others, you need to be a good kick, and Carazzo isn't. In fact, he's a terrible kick. That may be self-destructive yips, or otherwise fixable, but right now it's really bad.

He played one game as a leading forward - he presented well, opponents couldn't get near him on a lead and his hands were really good. It was his penetration and accuracy that undid it all. He really must work on these over summer.

If he fixed these he could be the next Mark Williams.
