He's a slower Carrazzo in that he can't kick but can get his hands on the ball at the stoppages. Is possibly our best tackler but is akin to giving away a few free kicks in the process. Whilst I like him I think along the line of Doza in that I think he will struggle to get a game if we have our full compliment of mids up and going.

I think Bentick should be in for his ability to lock it in at the stoppages. At least until Hadley gets his fitness up.I feel that our tackling the other night was a disgrace all over the park not only at stoppages. They were palming us of like Rugby players.

i agree bentick led tackels last year and on thursday night we couldnt tackle. its a no brainer to put him in the team. i have him ahead of hadley i didnt like some of his decision making and i think bentick is a better in and under player which is what we needed on thursday night we had to many recivers and we were getting killed out of the center.

As much as some of you don't want to hear this, I know Bentick is the only capable player of getting in the middle and getting the ball out to our mids (Judd, Stevens, Murphy and co.) Bentick is by far the best in and under player we got.

We were outplayed in the center clearances and Dickmond were able to punish us here the most, a player like Bentick will at least stop 40% of these plays because his tackling is supreme to anyone else's we have on the side and he knows how to do it best.

Our boys will be using that tackle bag allot at training this week, with allot of target practice and handballing.

I actually punched a hole through one of my house's doors in anger after consecutive tackles were broken at one stage last night.

And Armfield can tackle too, it might not be a bad idea to debut him.
Whatever happens I hope Russel doesn't get a go, he is one of the weakest tacklers going around, and is in the AFL for no reason other than being athletic, no footballing skill whatsoever.
Armfield and Bentick are the answer to Carlton's tackling problems.

We're in serious trouble if we are having to rely on one bloke for our tackles and hardness at the ball. A bloke who is an even worse kick than Carrazzo, and slower too. Sometimes people forget that some blokes cannot lay the proper tackle on certain players because these players are too agile or fast for them to get their hands/arms on.

Went and watched the Bullants this morning, and AB was terrific. Would have had 30+ touches easily, and used the ball very well. As BG said, he has trimmed down, and I reckon he might have even gained a yard of pace. Would almost be a certainty to play next week.

Great news :thumbsu:

even though i'm not a huge fan of Bentick i guess a little bit of mongrel wouldn't hurt our midfield

Richmond just seemed to run through us and i would think Bentick would stop some of this

I agree with your point that we can't just rely on one bloke for our tackles & hardness, but have to disagree with your description of AB as an even worse kick than Carrazzo. Bentick does sometimes kick floaters, but he is a lot better at pinpointing teammates than what Carrazzo is.

AB has more strings to his bow than tackling. He is also a very good clearance player & one of our best at getting first hands on the ball. We were clearly outmuscled on Thursday night at the fall of the ball at ruck contests. This would have been different if AB had been playing. He probably wouldn't have been the difference between winning & losing, but the final outcome might have been closer if we had been able to compete more at contested situations.

I wouldn't mind Bentick playing, we'll need some of his hardness and clearance work. Hopefully he's fit enough for next week.

Easy there, fella.

Get Bentick back ASAP!
In both games we won last year against Richmond and Essendon, Bentick was one of the best on ground.
Someone needs to be at the bottom of the packs feeding the ball to the other midfielders.
Also our tackling was disgraceful the other night.
Bentick usually playes better at the MCG than Telstra Dome.

Bring back the BENCH!

What has Hadley done wrong after one game? Certainly not our worst and showed a bit of spirit.

Hope the door fights back.
