Freo have delisted/retired about 8 players already, and are likely to lose another 3-4 in trade (Carr, Campbell, Warnock etc.). According to the Freo board, none of their rookies are pushing claims for promotion. They need to find players cheaply who can play, and not give up early picks. This is precisely why a R Shaw or BJ and a swap of picks would have an excellent chance of being successful. #29 for #24 (Warnock), or #45 for #37 would free up a spot on our list and get us a better draft position.

This is very true. Plus BJ has a good friendship with Tarrant which would appeal to him. Although their history together may be reason alone for Freo to not want Johnson at their club

He is MAD if he doesnt nominate Collingwood we have plenty of Inside Mid spots open and he will be a God if he can become a Sam Mitchell, Daniel Cross,

Freo = Shannon Cox or Ben Johnson
Port = Josh Carr
Pies = Adam Thomson

I could see that one happening and would not disagree with it.

Honestly we should Package up our 3rd Rounder Cox and BJ to secure Thomson and Freo's 2nd Rounder they get off Carlton for Warnock

Carl = Warnock
Freo = Ben Johnson Shannon Cox and Pick 45
Port = Carr
Pies Adam Thomson and Pick 24 on traded from Carlton

We get the extra 2nd Rounder we are dieing for to use on another Midfielder Swift/Banner and we also free up another spot on our list i honestly dont think im being unfair in this trade maybe Port are getting a little bit done but Thomson will leave if they like it or not and they get a good experienced Mid in Carr back

Excellent idea. Freo need to fill a heap of spots and they don't want them filled by picks 90-100.

It is reasonably fair but would depend on Fremantle's outlook. If they are prepared for a few years of pain I can't see them going for it although Cox may be of some interest.

An interesting point and a position I had not considered, but I can't see Freo wanting R Shaw or Johnson. Too old if they're rebuilding and they don't exactly have that "good reliable senior club man" tag. Cox is one I can see having some appear to them and I could see them consider a player like Lockyer. Why Lockyer? Well I think he brings a reliable and professional head who can be a senior club man and has a few years left in him. Its a long shot though, but I definitely think Cox would have some appeal.

Spot on.

With us he has the opportunity to establish himself and become a part of our team for a good part of the next decade.

I would also say the same thing about Farren Ray, provided we are interested. We also have a need for more speedy midfielders and he should be one we keep an eye on. Would be perfect to replace Rhyce and BJ so we can finally move them on.

We definitely have spots to be filled, particularly midfield so it would be very surprising if at least one of these two did not nomniate us for a trade.

Careful Bonuspoints - I am being shot down in another thread for sugessting Lockyer as trade bait.

Can I say after watching three finals matches from Sturt I think Thomson really should not have the audacity to demand a trade, If you want to be an AFL midfielder, DEMAND A SPOT! on good game every third or fourth match is not sufficent, Boak had to play Reserves, Ebert won a Magarey and still could not cement a regular AFL spot, Kane Corne's spent a year or two playing for Glenelg gathering 30+ touches...

Adam Thomson... Pull your head in, If you were going to be exceptional, you would stand out, If you were going to be good you would be consistanly to good for the SANFL, you are a good player in the SANFL, you will probably only ever be a honest AFL footballer!

His form hasn't been the best during the SANFL finals which makes it very hard for us to demand a second rounder for him. At this rate we'll be lucky to get a third rounder. Heck, it's more likely that he'll walk and the first club keen on him in the psd will be laughing.

According to the HUN today he's met with North Melbourne recently, and so might be headed there.

Adam has another good 8 years left him while Didak has 3 more. Young for old.

Yeah its a bit unrealistic, however what are you willing to unload for Adam?

Didak is 25 suggests to me than he has -8 years left in him, not 3.

I am going to get lashed out on this on but anyway - Didak to Port for their pick 4 and Thomson, seems fair they get there man in Didak we get a nice draft pick in a strong draft - we can cope without Didak from watching when he was suspended. Win Win in my view.

I think we Collingwood supporters are getting sucked into trying to grab any old midfielder to solve our onball problems.

What we need is 2 quality midfielders , not 2 players in Harris and Thompson(have not seen him play, so I could be wrong) that are no better than Shane O'Bree, or another player like O'Keeffe, who is a natural forward flanker that we want to convert into a midfielder. We are already trying to convert Didak,Thomas and Medhurst iinto midfielders and none of them have the engine for it. O'keeffe, apparently, does have the engine, but he has never proven his worth as a midfielder.

Sure go for Cousins if he comes very cheap. It's a huge risk and the chances of it working are low, but if the price is not high,then take the gamble.

Oh come on...couldnt we have given our 2nd or 3rd pick for him ?

Our 3rd round would not have got the done - Richmond's 3rd round is before ours.

A 2nd rounder for a guy that is not playing regular AFL football as a midfielder is probably over the odds.

We were probably caught out a little on this one due to the number of clubs interested.

I'd be more prepared to give our 2nd rounder for Green or Harris than Thomson.
