Have heard a little about this kid over the past year or so, don't know a heap but I hear he is a gun small forward, highly skillful and perhaps plays a little taller than his height suggests.

The name Maric instantly caught the eye, is he any relation to Ivan, 20cm in size difference suggests perhaps not but this isn't everything.

If he is a relation, could be good as Ivan could show him the ropes and he would settle in a lot better than most from interstate, similar situation to Jay van Berlo I think.

Would like to hear from anyone who perhaps knows anything more about him.

I see him as either being a superstar or a flop and this might be too much of a risk to see him taken really early - especially since I'm thinking we'll go for a safe option with our first pick (which would probably rule out all three). If one of Rioli, Veszpremi or Maric is still there for our second pick then we should be all over that but I'm not sure the club will be looking that way with Pick 10.

By the way, there's a couple of others later on so all is not lost if we don't take one of those three with 10 and they're all gone by 27. I really like Ashley Hockey and he's a midfielder/small forward with good skills on both sides likely to be around in the third.

One of my major peeves about not having another pick inside 25 is potentially missing on the second Maric!

I like the sound of this kid and it would be great to have the "Maric boys" at one club even though they are not related.

Yeah, Rendell really got ****ed by the bulldogs, should have made it a top 25 draft pick not round 2.

I'm certainly not laughing about it, he got done over big time by a supposed friend, hopefully he learns from it.
 
This is why I'm a bit annoyed we couldn't snag that Pick 22 off the Bulldogs. There are quite a few players not quite worth Pick 10 but I reckon won't be there by Pick 27. Pick 22 might be the difference. As they drop from 11-26 on Draft Day you will be able to see my anguish live and exclusive in post form.

I am gutted this year! For all my years at uni, I have NEVER had an exam on draft day. A couple of degrees later, I go back part time to specialise in e-business and e-commerce and I have the exam ON the day of the draft. And to top it off, its not after the draft, it starts at 9 and goes on for 3 hours. To say I am spewing is an understatement :(

Maric is either be an absolute out and out gun or nothing at all, but not in between.

He can slot goals in from any angle and his goal kicking ratio is better than Matty Lloyd's.

If he is used properly and does take the next step to AFL level he will be a gem! :)
 
We definitely need someone who can kick the opportunistic type goal and he seems like he is a master of it, Jarman, Modra and Vardy were guns at it, Mcleod used too, not sure whether he could still, would love to have some players like that back at the club.

He ended up with 29 from 8 games at 85% accuracy (elite) in the TAC, so we minus the 10 and he still bagged 19 in 7 - almost 3 a game :)
In the same year at the U/16 Champs he kicked 11 in 3 games - 8 from general play and 3 from set shots. He also averaged 23 disposals and 5 Inside 50s in those 3 games.

Maric is a thrilling prospect, brings a definite X-factor and could be used not only up forward but in the middle (reads the tap well) or even down back playing on an opposition small forward but his strengths are best suited to the forward 50 where he seems to always have an uncanny sense of where the goals are at.

I can see Brisbane taking him with their 1st Rd pick 8 - they too need an electric small forward and Maric would certainly compliment the Lions at ground level working at the feet of Brown, Bradshaw and Clark with Hooper and McGrath (or Corrie) occupying the other small positions. Could certainly make for a dangerous forward setup.

if he can kick straight, the crows wont be interested. either that or develop him into a backman.

The only point I failed to mention! Similar yes, and when developed will be a very similar height & weight

Didak had the same question marks hanging over his head when he was taken at pick 3 :rolleyes:
