I thought Wells signed a contract not that long ago to stay at Geelong.
I thought the exact same thing. Few months ago I thought…..

See Gary Lyon - we have been targeted plenty…. Now piss off…

Go Catters

Going absolutely nowhere.

Doesn't surprise me that clubs are after him though, he is the best in the business.

Wells has been massive for Geelong, obviously. But I also think Geelong has been really good for Wells. They seem to really back his judgement in taking the players HE rates and not picking guys everyone else thinks he should take or are rated around Geelong's picks (although with his track record it's hard not to ;))
I'd like to think that because Geelong's development is probably the best in the business he can feel confident in knowing that the guys he picks up are going to have the best development opportunity and will be given the best chance to become the best players they can be. Wells obviously rated Lang higher than most but has the confidence to think - I've seem something special in this kid, I know Geelong are the team who will bring the best out of him. I think this could be an important factor as to why Wells loves being at the cats.

Wells would be well looked after at Geelong. He's been targeted numerous times before. In our favour is, as FredLeDeux highlighted above, his love for Geelong but also, in my view, the nature of the role of a recruiter is different to other football jobs in that the freedom you are afforded means there is not really any benefit in jumping ship to another organisation 'for a new challenge', as you might find with coaches and players. Wells pretty much sets his own hours and does his job however the hell he wants to. Apart from money (hopefully not a factor) or a lifestyle change (*ahem, Adelaide*), why would he move?

Yeah not to mention he walked out on the club during our 2011 campaign. Paint it anyway you like, but he walked out.
I think the post-game hugs and general feeling of goodwill paints his decision to take a highly sort after head coaching position in a fairly good light.

Will be announced Wednesday, going to the Crows.

He's been at the club for how long? 30 years or something, now he's just gonna up and leave and go to...Adelaide? Why? does he have family over there? Did he recently sustain a brain injury? come on people, 5aa wishful thinking here, move on.
