Shane Tuck

With Trading comming up I want to pose the question is Shane Tuck worth considering, my view is Yes

My reasons

1. Shane Tuck is always high in the AFL rankings for contested ball and hard ball gets and every time we have lost this year is because we have dropped off winning the contested ball for a qtr or two

2. At the age of 27 Tuck could be handy as a middle age player to fill a void for a year or two after the retirements of Macca, Zoomer and Goody

definitely worth considering if we did not have to give much away

Re: Shane Tuck

Amongst the worst users of the ball in the competition. There's a reason he was delisted. Whenever he gets the ball he just bangs it on the boot without really caring about the end result. Sure he wins the contested ball which would be handy but I'd rather develop Dangerfield, Sloane, Petrenko, Cook ect.

Re: Shane Tuck

Don't think so.

As I said in another thread, we've have Thommo, Dangerfield, Vince, Knights & Van Berlo in or around the middle - all of them are proven contested ball winners and clearance players.

Can't see Tuck bringing us anything special, or filling an area we're really deficient in, so I'd pass.

I agree, he is definitely worth considering, although we all know the crows won't.
A similar prospect would be Luke Ball, I've seen him linked to the crows a few times on this site (we know how much of a reliable source that is:D), but I'm sure he'd be worth more than we'd be willing to give up.

Re: Shane Tuck

When you get dumped from Richmond it's a pretty sound indication that you aren't up to it. The only exception in the last 10 years would be David Rodan, and even he is now in and out of the Port side.

Re: Shane Tuck

You don't even follow the happenings at your own club? Hardwick said he's no longer a required player.

Yes I follow my club very closely, thank you very much. I assume you're following word of mouth from media tools like Gary Lyon who don't know what they're talking about. Where did Hardwick say he's no longer a required player? We're moving him on because he's 27 going on 28 and we're looking to rebuild from scratch. He may be one of our players in that category who may have currency on the open market since he is a very good inside mid/clearance player (was leading the comp for hard ball gets at round 17, etc). He hasn't been de-listed like you say though, just the perfect player for trade bait.

He's not getting dumped, he's getting traded...big difference. He's the perfect player for trade bait, especially in our situation.

Re: Shane Tuck

So it's common knowledge that Richmond are looking to move Tuck on, but if no one offers anything for trade, he'll stay on the list?

That's the way to build a lad's confidence who may be potentially kept on the list.

Didn't hurt O'Keefe or McIntosh.

Re: Shane Tuck

agree Tuck's disposal has been suspect in recent times however I also believe skill level is something that can be improved

I just believe in the role role as a hard inside midfielder releasing the likes of D-Mac and Knights by hand and supporting Danger and Thompson in the stoppages he could be valuable

to win a B&F at a club is a fantastic effort no matter how much a club may be struggling

like I said worth considering if the deal was a straight player swap or late picks

Re: Shane Tuck

He was number 1 before he got dropped at hard ball gets at the start of the year and was very high up the year before. His kicking is not great but im sure we would be able to have someone run past him to handball the ball off so they can set up our players better then what he can. From what i was reading on the draft board a lot of the Richmond fans thought that a 2nd to 3rd round pick would be fair and if the draft is as weak as its been made out to be i cant see us losing much in trading a draft pick for him.

Rich mans Brad Symes. He's much better than symes, but he suffers the same problems, finds it, contests, kicks worse than I do.
