Don't really see the need to so can't see it happening, some people love the hill- I personally hate it but still there is not much hill left so may as well keep it as it is one of the main characteristics of the ground

Well if the Crows reach their 60,000 target, plus the minimum of 3,000 AFL tickets for every game, that's about 11,000 over capacity for Adelaide Oval. If this trend continues, I see no other option but to create a northern grandstand.

60,000 members, they don't all include tickets, many are only 3-game and a fair few are interstate or non-ticketed. Eventually they may have to, but not for a while but the crowds at Adelaide Oval with increase a lot

From what I've heard, season tickets for Adelaide oval are almost at capacity. I think it will be very hard to get tickets, especially at the last minute, without a membership.

The Oval's looking great.

One problem I have is the re-naming of the Southern Stand from the Torrens Stand to the Riverbank Stand. The name Torrens Stand really started to grow on me. It's a name that South Australians identify with.

I saw a photo of signage where 'Riverbank Stand' was placed over 'Torrens Stand' with Torrens Stand signage still visible. Made the naming seem more of an afterthought.

It's a shame the SMA couldn't figure all of this shit out earlier. They've had two years to get it all sorted and they've received a decent salary so there really shouldn't have been any stuff ups, particularly with the easier tasks such as naming stands.

Its just a temporary name isn't it? Think I read it'll be named after a footy great. So maybe they thought it best to give it a more generic name before people get attached to 'Torrens Stand'

The SMA got told to change the name of the stand by the Premier from what I have been told. It was a decision only made in the last 10 days.

The name will not be changing. It will forever be known as the Riverbank Stand.

Reasoning? The new name sounds kind of generic, the Torrens end has at least a bit of identity to it.

Until the next change in state government...

The views from the Stand towards the city will show the whole Riverbank precinct once it has been done up. The name of the stand won't be changing irrespective of which government is in power.

Why won't they though? There's already precedent for it being changed on a whim.

Not a politics forum, but this is yet another solid example as to why Jay Weatherill is an idiot.

I agree with Fyfie. The "Riverbank Stand" name is a generic name rather than the name "Torrens Stand", which is a name that makes more sense and is an identifier with Adelaide.

Far out Ive never realised until recently how much of a bunch of complete and utter tools you pro liberal supporters are. You're truly pathetic, along with your bullshit Advertiser newspaper, its just whinge after ****ing whinge after ****ing whinge, about nothing issues. Who really cares that a stand which was going to be called the Torrens stand is now going to be called riverbank, and then trying to make a premier look bad about it. WTF, politics has way more airtime than it deserves

It will remain Riverbank Stand. It's been reported (can't completely remember when, but recently) that it won't have a football or cricket name. Eastern side will get football names to complement the cricket names on the western side.
If the Riverbank Precinct idea really gets up and running (cafes, etc etc etc along the banks of the Torrens near the Cas and the Convention Centre), then the tie-in with the Riverbank Stand coming off the Plaza from the Bridge will work really well. Just gotta hope the Precinct really gets going.

The problem is that there was already a really good name for the Southern Stand, then Jay Weatherill decided to be an idiot about it. It didn't need changing. That's the point.

And don't make such comments about people's political persuasion, regardless of which part of the spectrum they align themselves to. You have no right.

By the way, The Advertiser is pro-Labor. Shows how much you know.

But for someone noticing the "Torrens Stand" name taped over on a sign at the open day, we never knew it was going to be called that before the change to Riverbank. Oh well. We have a stand that gives you a nosebleed now :P brilliant view from up there, even if you do kind of feel like you're in the Duff Blimp floating over the stadium to watch the game!

Did you not see the Federal Election coverage, where Rupert compelled them to be pro-Liberal...

You're saying a News Limited paper is pro-Labor (when it is really pro-Liberal). It may have been pro-Labor in 2007 but it has been anything but recently.

Surely you can't actually be serious, if you are it shows how much Murdoch kool-aid you've been drinking (no different to the politics board on this site).

Only through the influence of Murdoch.

If you read their reports, they have social liberal undertones. The guy who called me a pathetic Liberal and labelled The Advertiser "our" newspaper was wrong, as it is historically Labor. And based on current interpretations, it still is.

Back to footy, is the Bradman stand only available to SACA members during footy season?

It looks like a great place to sit, would love to sit there if I can make the trip down

Nothing is available to SACA Members in footy season. Unless they also have a Crows/Power/AO/SANFL/AFL membership, or whatever membership gets you into the Bradman Pavilion.

Would I be able to get a seat there as a member of the away team or general public. I imagine they would be the most expensive seats if so.

I'm actually quite impressed with that bit of AO, looks like they mixed old and new really well there.

General public? Not a snowball's chance.
Away team? Wouldn't have a clue.
As an away team Member were you able to get into the AAMI Members' Reserve? I'm guessing similar arrangements.

Depending on the weather (overcast, night games, no rain), the middle tier of the eastern stands will be the best views for footy imo.
