Had a chat to Peter Mala-somethingorather from the SDA Union today at the races, I thought I missed me chance as the first time we got talking he started talking about booze and that, which is a favourite topic of mine, but eventually we got around to footy and I mentioned about Australia's largest Union, Port Adelaide, working class, blah blah blah...
Anyhow, he told me that he did seriously look in to it but decided it was too expensive and that too many of the Union members are kamry supporters as well. A top bloke though and we had a good chat about all things Port Adelaide (he's a choco fan though) and agreed that Schulz is the most underrated key forward in the AFL and it was a good day. Damn I would love to get that bloke and the SDA on board though. Maybe REH could talk them around? Hahaha
Peter Malinauskas plays footy for Adelaide Uni. Seeing as I'm a Bob Neil member of the club I'll see if the the president gives me an introduction to him this season. After he helped get rid of Rann, I was at one of Uni's oval when the pres set up a few photos of Malinauskas ordering off footy officials. It was a good laugh. I think he is a crows supporter edgie. Maybe he was showing his smooth political skills to convince you he liked port.
The one way we might be able to swing this, is to start with the Foodbank partnership. The shoppies are usually the ones who have to throw out food, sometimes when that food is fine. Bakeries tend to throw out unsold bread at the end of the day even though nothing is wrong with it. Maybe the shoppies can start a campaign where their members get the food to Foodbank rather than the bins. Start the ball rolling with a bit of altruism. Who knows where it will lead.
