With both teams ready to face off in Round 1 both sets of supporters are looking forward to this for different reasons

Both teams feel this is a season where they make a move up the ladder

Adelaide supporters are most excited with the addition of pick 4 Sid Draper and the off season moves of Peatling, ANB and Cumming

Home game big crowd and fresh faces should see a really pumped up home crowd

The cheer for Draper will be extra loud

Adelaide due to home ground

No excuses anymore for the Head Ball Coach

Put up or shut up time starts in a nicely timed early evening Saturday Night Footy opener 😉

Ohhh and as an aside make the old man ( GreyCrow )an admin for God’s sake 😆

Watching Port lose to Collingwood like they did last night after making the Saints look stupid, makes me really wary.

They most likely don't have the cattle with Owens, King, Butler, Henry, Phillipou and Howard out. We're at full strength off a really good preseason, surely we can't stuff this up.

Ways we can stuff this up:

*Have Soligo starting sub
*Start defensively, like really timid, then realise being 4 goals to 0 down is not working.
*Kick 1 goal in a half, then kick 4 in 6 minutes for some reason
*Watch Jack Steele run around by himself without thinking they should maybe go near him
*Have Laird go anywhere near a contest where the only option is a dump kick
*Darcy Wilson kicks 9 (seriously, how can someone as useless as Amartey kick 9, nine!!, FFS, I still shake my head at that)
*Recall Brodie Smith to replace Michalanney

So so pumped. For the game and year (and future years). It’s felt like a really long pre-season….

So many individual players. The traded in guys, Draper looks as good as any draftee for over a decade, the development of our young potential elites. The most dynamic skilful accurate kicking forward line, midfield mix(es), fast ball movement end to end complemented by a jump in elite pace players, carving up teams with foot skills. And generally just fast, exciting, free flowing and high scoring footy. And TT to truly become the bearded beast and start punishing teams.

Expect Lyon to go ugly but we will wear them down and far too good overall. Crows by 40+

Im heading in early to have a bacon butty in the carpark - gotta beat all the other handicap parkers to the best spot

Should win comfortably.

Great side on the park, new additions all look like they'll contribute at a high level. Opponent down on troops..... all points to a solid win.

R1 can provide some upsets, but this won't be one of them, because if it is the reaction will be severe

Also, looks like its forgotten to rain in the metro area, even up here in the Hills we didn't get as much as I hoped.

That shouldn't be a factor

There is a huge gap between the expectations of people on this Board and non-Crows observers

Nearly 90% on this Board expect us to win by more than 3 goals (10 goals plus is the benchmark of quite a few posters) and 55% expect a 6+ goal win.The line for this game (people who put their money where their mouth is) is 17.5 points.

Most posters expect us to make the Eight and a widely held view is we must win at least one final for Nicks to survive. Yesterday Sportsbet had 9 teams more likely to make the Eight (now down to 8 teams thanks to the Pear).

This is a game we simply must win. I wouldn’t be happy but a one point win will be enough. Carlton have already provided a masterclass in how to lose to a much weaker opposition. The Pear have demonstrated what happens if your head is in the wrong place.

Ross Lyon will do everything in his power to make this an ugly game. We just have to grind out a win and show enough to reassure ourselves that we are capable of moving up the ladder. A Collingwood style display of down hill skiing may not be helpful in the long run.

Crows by 7 points.

He does alright. Probably because I rarely disagree with him 🤣

We should win this comfortably, Saints looked awful against the pear two weeks ago. Excited to see how the new recruits go and hoping Draper gets to start.

Statement game - we need to belt the absolute suit case out of them

  • Midfield need to dominate
  • Forwards need to get back to 2023 - be the most productive forward line in the comp
  • we need to defend as a team

No excuses - perfect off season, whereas the Saints fly in missing key personnel

Make a statement AFC
