Oh man don't bring up Northey leaving. I would have loved to see how that 95 team would have done with Northey staying at least through to 97. That was a fun time to be a tiger fan. I've always hoped to somehow get a season set of 95, but never have been able to get much.

I remember i did a school project on Richmond 95 & the Northey walk out that invovled you having to do a 15 minute talk on something you know a lot about, and the breif was including details & exlpaining whys and hows or something like that I remember there was a couple of other students just like "WTF is this kid on about??", but I actually got an "A". What a ****ing footy tragic kid i was :joycat:
95 was a great season, still close to my favourite year supporting Richmond.

that team had a flag in them with Richo back and northey at the helm

unfortunately we had ol m8 robbie walls from 96

He won a flag in his second year
Longmire was the golden boy assistant ~ annointed heir by Paul Roos, at the same club for 10 years before he started head coach. Yze's been given the reigns with 5 million campaigners having to pull on a jumper. Due to Meehan & Gale TBH.
I'll hold judgement until we get our gun KPPs on the park for more than 4 games a year

and those wondering..... no i was not able to stay inside the 15 minutes even back then

Any truth to this? Have a look at screenshot.

Very likely. All of those things ring true.

1)Bolton was awful this year. All the "tough love" around his often selfish gameplan was out the door.

2) Dusty took the piss, all year.

3) Yes, lots of supporters have commented the same & had a lot of frustrating over it.

I would dare say that it very well could be true just implying the logic test on those queries

I'm still hoping Yze and the coaching staff can turn the ship around albeit in small steps and and at least progress to some improvement.

Surely things at the club aren't THAT bad??.....

If the club let Frawley see out his contract, Wallace see out pretty much all of his, and continued with Hardwick in 2016; I can't see Yze being terminated before his contract ends if that was to be the case.

The club has moved on from the dark old days of the coaching merry-go-round.

I'm convinced 1 of 2 things would have happened. We either win a flag - maybe, we were further advanced than Adelaide at the time and they went b2b in '97 & '98. OR, Kevin Sheedy would have been appointed coach at the end of '98 when Essendon were ready to give him the flick. What a boon that would have been for the club at the time.

It would’ve been a tough situation for Yze to come into. The team is his now though and this year will be telling. Don’t be surprised to hear more comments about effort rather than winning though, we are rebuilding after all.

We had a very entitled senior bunch this year, with a few exceptions.

Bolton played like he always played. No change except the team performance meant that opportunities up forward were few and poorly delivered.
Dusty was sore most of the time. Did not take “the piss” and output also impacted by midfield getting smashed. Just insulting to the best player we’ve seen to suggest that, with zero info to support.
Baker was the one that played like he’d checked out.

I suspect Sheedy would have failed (given the crap state we were in), and he knew it

Can you elaborate on this please? Maybe some examples? Can I also ask what generation you belong to if it's not too rude? I think there's probably better explanations for the questionable culture and attitudes.

I'm not convinced of that.

Agree we were in a crap state at the time; however, Essendon had had enough of Sheedy at the end of '98. Sheedy's contract ended in '98 and he had a clause whereby he, and only he, could activate a 1 year extension should he wish.

He did so and Essendon should've won the flag in '99. Either way he had the Bombers primed and was always going to get a new contract thereafter (and our club was lurking in the shadows as usual to ensure he did).

I have no doubt had Richmond offered him a 3, 4, or 5 year deal at the end of '98 he would have jumped at it. Back then Sheedy had plenty of coaching currency and a return home would have had the place jumping.

At that time we had the nucleus of a very good team. Frawley, FFS, got us to a prelim in 2001.

It's obvious our club has learnt its lessons from the 3 decades of disaster preceding our recent triumphs regarding treating its people with respect. This is why Yze will be given every opportunity to develop his team. And if it appears he can't, he will be shown the door with dignity.

Agree with most of that mate , but historically all the coaches we sacked went on to be nothing. If a coach is incompetent or not to standard then you shouldn’t try and polish a turd as it can have other detrimental affects. Yze gets another year for me and if there’s no growth in terms of improvement as a group first then as a team , he simply needs to go.
