I think it depends on who is moderating the posts. Some mods let things slide where I don't think others do.

Not from what i've seen. I like the mods on the Swans board aswell, i was even allowed my "roomies" thread. ;D

If idiot is all you're willing to add to the conversation, then clearly your input is and shouldn't be valued, so it is deleted. One word glib remarks don't help.

Mods are a funny bunch. They're always right. Even when they're wrong, they're right. The Richmond board has a good group of mods.

You guys should be lucky I'm not a mod given some of the crap that pops up on this site. I remember on one forum I once had a policy where all one line posts were deleted, regardless of what they said. All things said I think the admins and mods on this site do an excellent job and the forums have improved out of sight from what they were when I first started posting here.

The problem with that is that people willing to troll or just say "idiot" will stretch it out so it's one line and a word to bypass it. Deleting all one line answers is not the answer. Anyway, some mods reply with one line.

Oh actually it worked quite well for a while because it encouraged people to actually give some reasoning behind their opinions. But it can't last for too long because it drives people away. After a while I fell on my sword and quit as mod on that particular forum. The rule was relaxed yet people continued to expand on their expressed opinions for the most part because it was now part of the forum culture.

I think the mods try and do a good job. The cricket board is an example of where the mods are doing there best but the board is turning to crap.

This is a place for discussion about football, and even allowing for some of the bay 13 trolling (bay 13 of course was created for this purpose), the fact that you're surprised that post was deleted shows what sort of poster you are, a bona fide troll, here simply to stir up trouble and take pot shots. There are other ways to respond to those kinds of remarks than simply writing glib remarks. In a way, you're just as bad as he is.

Some others complain that they're not strict enough. Caught between a rock and a hard place if you ask me.

Generally, they do a good job-and I've had "issues" with a few of them. In hindsight you can usually admit that it was you at fault, not the moderator. Can be hard to see in the midst of "battle" though.

While I know the mod you're talking about (and agree with you), I would say for the most part they do a difficult task (I won't say job because mods do the work voluntarily) at a very good standard.

If you actually believe that using the term "idiot" in any circumstance constitutes an "unnecessarily stupid, childish, immature meaningless cheapshot" then good luck in the real world mate.

But unless you are working towards being a school teacher or an internet moderator, I suggest you change your fastidious, hair-splitting ways.
