Hi Guys,

I have to purchase Adobe CS4 for the Design Couse I am doing. Looking around, I see that there is a Student Edition, which I am not eligible for, as I am doing my course through Distance Learning, and not doing it for two years, so that well and truly sucks, to know that "Students" get this for a lot cheaper than I can get it for. But anyway, I need to get it, so where is the best place to get it, as cheap as I can, as I am a little strapped for cash at the moment, so over $600 is steep for me. Is it worth going through Ebay, or is it just safer to get it at a Discount Shop the Course has linked me up to, or is there another option.

Thanx in advance for any info given.

Cheers D9

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but anyway...

If you know a little about computers, another option is to download the master collection 30-day trial discs, or you can buy them for about $40 I think, and then find a crack for it. As a student (many years ago - I started on photoshop 3, prior to layers ) I learnt on cracked versions, and now that I work in the industry obviously I use legit versions.

If you're not making money from it, I doubt Adobe are going to come knocking on the door of a potential future customer.

Not saying I condone this btw, just saying what I did ;).

The prices for design software are insane on a student budget IMO, and if you're taking a bit of time to complete the course, there will inevitably be newer versions you have to upgrade to, just to keep up with it until you get a design job.

If I can offer some other advice, if you're into self-teaching, and decide to go the copied route, I would recommend learning a bit with Dreamweaver and Flash too. From my experience, the more you know about those two (on top of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator of course), the more doors it will open for you with some smaller design places, or non-design places who have an in house designer. I've seen quite a few design jobs advertised as needing Dreamweaver and/or Flash experience, or that it is not required, but a bonus. I do both graphic and web design myself where I work. Of course depends on what your goal is though, and probably where you live - might be different for me in Geelong.

Sorry dude, can't really help with places to buy it. I personally wouldn't go through ebay for expensive software myself, but that may just be me.

Funny story, I graduated over a decade ago and I wanted a student price for Visual Studio.

Well I digitally edited my old student card to be current and emailed that.

I think it was this site
http://www.studentdiscounts.com.au/misc/faq.shtml

They just want you to see an ID, there's no cross-referencing or anything.

Who is qualified to buy from Student Discounts?
You need to be a registered student to receive educational pricing. Full-time, part-time and external students are all eligible. After you graduate or are no longer registered as an active student, you will not qualify for educational pricing. Teachers, lecturers, and educational institutes can also purchase from Student Discounts. Non-profit organisations are also eligible to purchase some products from us.

For you it's like a chicken and egg problem, you need to get Photoshop to create the ID!

Can you just borrow someone elses? Know any teachers?

Otherwise yeah, f'it, bittorrent! Adobe won't miss your $429.

Thanks heaps for the help guys, I downloaded something called 360Share Pro, as a site I was lead to, seemed to have just what I wanted. After I downloaded it, I found it is similar to Limewire, just wit Share Pro on it rather than Limewire obviously. Downloaded a crack, that is winzipped, so now since my winzip is expired, I need to pay $30 to get that, then "I hope" the file I have, gets me somewhere.

Thought I'd be downloading a big file, but only could find smaller files, presumingly only keygens and stuff. So getting a trial version, then using this zip file, could unlock the chances of me getting out of going majorly short of everything else for a while, to buy this thing outright. Here's hoping.

Feel a bit paranoid, there is shonky stuff, pop ups and virus's all just sitting there, begging for me to slip up and get into something, that will have its way with me, or by me, I mean, with my computer.

Anywayz, thanks again for all of your info.
