AE AE13 - Temptation

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

It's not connected to CR scores, but to how many correct winners tipped.

It's just a bonus.... Woodson loves his bonuses.

Imo, earning the bonus would've been better if a) you still have teams alive in your toplist, b) you activated a team that week in temptation.

But I agree, would've been better if there was no tie-in with the CR side of things. If a bonus had to be awarded, find something else from WITHIN the Temptation comp.

Next year, tweaks ;)
Tweaks or twerks??

Or tweaks and twerks??

This comp needs serious tweaking. I can see why it was made standalone.

I think with the 27+ you should only get the 2 points if your team wins too. 1 point otherwise.

Certainly not in favour of bonus points from other areas.

Also I don't think there's a real need to restrict what teams can be picked. It's not like you can take 10 teams that will go 16-0.

Why the avatar change bigfella??

I do agree with your post though, and TBH I hadn't thought of connecting the win and the 27+ - very good idea actually.

Though I do like the idea of restricting it to only ten or twelve teams each - forces some gambling decisions before the season starts, and gives some excitement during the early weeks when the formlines aren't well clear.

I'd also like to se a change so that you must bet at least one team every week until you have three or fewer teams left...

And what's the Juggalo stand for?

If it was Balla of Juggs I could understand...

Had you picked all the best teams from last season you might have ended up with Atlanta, Houston and Washington... ouch.

I think restricting the teams makes the selection a bit generic. You'd get more of a spread with open slather.

Those that risk on the weaker teams that come good will have a great team in their top list that others can't touch.

That's what I said to Woodson when drawing up the comp, but he didn't agree. :(

Firstly a Juggalo is a fan of ICP music. I don't have any tats or piercings I just listen to the music occasionally. I happened to be into it at the time I signed up for this forum and thought it would be good to represent that group in the hope that others would see my username and associate. The "Balla" bit was just relating to footy. My original avatar (back in the days when you had to get BF membership for a large one) was a hatchet man with an AFL ball instead of an axe.

I like the idea of having to send out at least one team. I haven't skipped any weeks though, has anybody?

There is an element of risk with picking teams before things kick off. I took the Giants... and I still have them as one of my two live teams :D

We all picked 10 teams before the season started.

I don't agree people HAVE TO activate at least one team every week. No restrictions, remember? ;)

It allows for strategy, people sitting and waiting if they want, or going hard early.

I agree with two things only -- 1) freedom to pick any 10 teams, 2) if there's to be a bonus, has to be derived from within the temptation comp itself.

How the heck have you managed to keep the Giants alive in the woeful year they've had????

I bow down before your Temptation awesomeness...

I get the ICP link but didn't want to presume that was what you meant - few on here would know what ICP is I reckon. Welcome, anyway...

And as for skipping weeks, well two of the competitors have yet to nominate a single team any week all year. Preserving their picks and keeping their powder dry for the run home perhaps...

I had thought the bonus 3 points was for whoever got the most temptation points for the week... to encourage aggressiveness.

Was dumbfounded to realise it's CR o_O

Still a good game I look forward to being crowned inaugural champion.

Thanks for that GG.

Everybody is commercialized if they don't shit on the stage

That's not the takeaway there. Instead, he went it alone, no one would touch him either, lived in a suitcase, pressed his own albums, sold them at gigs, and much more that normal people would be too scared/weak to ever willfully decide to do like he did. True 'rock n roll'....which was a movement created, anti-authoritarian, challenging the norms and standards of not only music but society. To date no one has lived true to that but one man.

The rest...it's a career, an image, etc. Especially those who TRY to project an image of being outlaws and dangerous. Which reminds me of an excellent GG story** I have nothing against true ARTISTS like David Bowie, Pink Floyd etc etc....where music is an artform and canvas, and they're just plowing their 'trade'.

Forgot to answer this.

Ray was cool for a while but the Ravens aren't performing and he is retired now.

My new favourite is Golden Tate.

It might have been Jacoby if he wasn't such a tool.

** GG going about his suitcase life, walks into a bar, sitting there having a few drinks, talking to the locals, checking out the band on the stage. He gets so furious at their fakeness, pretending to be all tough, bursting those blood pills in their mouths etc, he races up to the stage, grabs the lead singer, literally picks him up and throws him off the stage, then starts beating up the rest of the band and destroying their equipment, people flee.

ICP is commercial. They did it to make money. They were on big labels like Disney way back in the day.

True underground or independent is very rare these days.

GG is a bit too extreme for my liking. Never really been into hard rock or death metal or whatever it is.

Fair enough. No disrespect to your tastes meant :(
For the record, my musical/movie/literature library/tastes is extremely eclectic. I love a lot of stuff....as long as there's an honesty and integrity to it. Which means I also hate a lot of stuff....everything that's fake and pretend and untalented.

So GG that would explain a lot of things...

My only question from that GG Allin video is are you the four eyed judge, the fat copper or the deranged lead singer??

As to Mr Balla -

For a history of ICP

And for the real hard core ICP fan, check out the ICP Theater take on Justin Beiber for some home truths...

.

I think the 27+ should earn a bonus point if they lose. You'd expect most teams who score 27 points or more will win, so its kind of a gimme bonus point, IMO, cos one usually leads to the other.

And ICP lost it after their second album. They found something that worked, then exploited it for everything that it was worth!!

Excellent suggestion :thumbsu:
The bonus point of favorites covering the spread is 'just'/right. And as fuey explains above, the 'just'/right bonus for +27 would be the loser, not the winner.

I like this idea even better!! Great point...

Just like Aaron Rodgers, Mike Holmgren and Brett Favre, eh??

McCarthy/Rodgers, yes. Noone has really shown they can stop our passing game in about 4 years, so no need for change.

Favre/Holmgren no. Favre ad-libbed too much to be predictable

Scrap bonus points altogether but make it you can select more than one option per team.

You could go spread, +27 and the win on the same team. Every point has to be earned none of this freebie business.

All MNF games double points no matter how many teams you have selected for the week.
