Who is NOT very good. But hey ignore he’s a dud pick along with the other first rounders he’s burnt and when our rebuild takes longer than planned, keep backing Hamish in
Yet McAsey was consider very good in his draft year, it seems like mentally he can handle the pressure of being a professional AFL player with COVID-19 having a bigger impact which has been well documented. Hopefully this situation changes for him.

Plenty have good draft years and don’t make it.

Clearly we want him to make it but unfortunately I just can’t see it.

Mcasey has time
He does, but he doesn't look anything remotely close to an AFL standard footballer at the moment. Heck, even SANFL standard is pushing it. Talia didn't debut until his second year but it was obvious from his SANFL performances that he had a future in the AFL. In his third year, he broke out winning the rising star. I'd love to be proving wrong, but McAsey is looking increasingly likely to not make. He's behind Frampton, Murray AND Borlase for a KPD spot when he should be knocking down the door of selection.

It's not hindsight.

Plenty on here were saying do not pick a defender with pick 6 unless they are also an elite forward
Plenty is a big stretch

Well we all know to win a premiership you need A grade midfielders. Meanwhile we downgraded 2 spots in the draft to pick up a slow non athletic key defender. I remember plenty of people questioning this, including myself

Again, would Serong be what Serong is now with us ?? He'd be playing SANFL or small forward in our side.

I don't think GWS wouldn't have done the pick swap as all the selection would have moved up a pick had we not told them we were selecting McAsey so Fremantle would have used pick 7 to draft Tom Green to maximise GWS draft deficit instead of Serong. Hence, GWS only did the pick swap as they knew Fremantle was going to select Serong.
Yea but my point was we could’ve just kept 4 and picked serong

I think we will offer him another 2 years since KPD/KPF take longer to develop.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. Even if the last part of your sentence is correct, there's no reason to keep one if they've shown no signs of progression after three years, let alone four. I suspect we'll keep him next season as his contract runs it but, if he's still dishing up the same performances, he's done.

I suspect he's already done. He's essentially a high priced SANFL top up.

Don’t be a w***er. He’s a dud pick and our drafting with early picks has been poor, I get frustrated with the mental gymnastics that goes on to try and defend Hamish’s drafting
He's contracted for another year, he's got time.

Poor game yesterday no question, but I'm not into writing players off as early as some.

And one of those year was greatly influence by COVID-19 which has clearly impacted him more on his development, at worst it will be a 1 year extension if he hasn't showed improvement next year. If he does, then 2 years.

Let's just wait and see if the McAsey/Pedlar pick comes good before we get too carried away.

It's also unlikely we would have taken Serong before Lachie Ash and Hayden Young anyhow, both were rated above Serong and many believe they were both likely to end up as wing/mids anyhow.
