Player Injury Expected Return
Fergus Watts Groin 1 week
Martin Mattner Back 1 week
Aidan Parker A/C Joint 1 week
Ben Rutten Foot 1 week
Mark Stevens Knee 3 weeks
Josh Krueger Back 4 weeks
Good to see Rutten hasnt got long to go. I believe he is still training and wearing a moon boot to protect his foot. Good on you Ben for still getting out there.
Krueger - 4 weeks. Thats a real shame I was keen to see him play against the Bays at the Parade.
SANFL Reports from ACF site
Always to be taken with a grain of salt.
Sunday Mail rated the following Crows as the best for their clubs -Torney, Burns, Gallagher, Hazell, Smith, Jericho
NORWOOD V PORT ADELAIDE
James Gallagher (Norwood)
Playing as a midfielder during the first three quarters James continued to display an excellent work ethic as he gathered many possessions around the ground by hard running to space. He was very defensively minded as he was prepared to work into Norwood’s back line to assist his defenders. He was shifted to a back pocket during the final term and played a sound defensive quarter as Port Adelaide booted 7 goals. His skill level was excellent and he will come under strong consideration for this week.
Tim Hazell (Rookie – Norwood)
Playing as a centreman, with a brief stint in the forward pocket during the third quarter, Tim continued to impress with his competition around the pack and winning the hard ball. As a result of his hard work he was able to bring his teammates into the play with quick hands. He showed he could also be a constructive forward as he booted two goals while playing in the pocket. Another solid performance.
Ronnie Burns (Port Adelaide)
Ronnie put the off-field controversy behind him and played an excellent game. Despite being disappointed about missing out on selection in the Kangaroos game, Ronnie’s attitude was very good and as a result he worked hard to create scoring opportunities for his team. His defensive effort was terrific as on many occasions he chased down and tackled opponents and held the ball in Port’s forward line. His skill level was first class and he finished the day with four goals. A big chance to be recalled this weekend against Brisbane.
Scott Stevens (Port Adelaide)
Considering Scott knew very few of his teammates, his first up effort for Port was very good. His attitude (like Ronnie’s) was terrific. Playing across half back, his strong marking was a feature of his game and he followed this up by displaying a good level of skill. He looked to create an attacking option when his side had the ball and when Norwood had the footy, he gave his direct opponent no room to move. He should feel satisfied with a solid game and should be a chance this week to play against the Lions.
GLENELG V STURT
Jacob Schuback (Glenelg)
Jacob played across half back and he played a serviceable game, working hard to get the footy and create an option coming out of defence. His disposal was good, and he pushed the ball into Glenelg’s forward 50m zone several times. He looked comfortable playing as a backman.
Matthew Smith (Rookie – Sturt)
Playing at full back, Matthew played a good game and he was solid with his defensive skills, which meant his opponent had little influence on the game. He continually ran off his opponent and was used several times when Sturt looked to attack. He was strong in the one on one marking contests and if not able to take the mark himself, he always bought the ball to ground for his smaller players.
Rowan Andrews (Rookie – Glenelg)
Rowan played the second half of the game in ruck and although he was not as physically strong as his opponent, you could not fault his endeavour and enthusiasm. For a big man his contesting at ground level was very good and he showed a good level of skill when he got hold of the ball.
James Begley (Sturt)
James played a very good defensive game across half back. He was able to keep his opponent quiet for the game, while still managing to gather possessions with a good work ethic. His skills were once again very good. Although not being a dominant player, he did his job at the end of the day. A good disciplined game.
SOUTH V EAGLES
Jason Torney (South Adelaide)
Playing in the unfamiliar position of centre half forward, Jason’s performance was excellent. His work rate was very good and he was very effective at making an aerial contest. Once the ball was on the ground he was just as effective and he won numerous contests with good second efforts. He was able to take some strong marks by playing in front and reading the play. He booted two goals and all of his other kicks were to the team’s advantage. His defensive pressure (chasing and tackling) was another pleasing aspect of Jason’s game.
Nathan Bock (Eagles)
In his second game back from injury, Nathan continued to improve with a very good game at centre half back and full back. He worked extremely hard to negate his opponent and always looked to take front position when in a marking contest. When caught behind, he directed his spoils so that his team was first at the ground ball. He moved well and ran hard to win possession of the ball. His disposal by either hand or foot was first class and his intensity when he had the ball was very good.
Hayden Skipworth (Eagles)
‘Skippy’ put in a solid game, without being outstanding. His work in the tight contests was good and his use of quick hands gave his side his side the advantage around the stoppages. His work rate throughout the entire was good and he was able to gather many uncontested possessions because of his hard running.
NORTH V WEST
Chris Ladhams (North Adelaide)
Although not being the dominant player on the ground, which he has been the past couple of weeks, Chris was still a good contributor for the Roosters. As we have come to expect from Chris, his skill level was excellent and was able to bring his teammates into the game with his pinpoint disposals.
Brad Dabrowski (Rookie – West Adelaide)
After sitting the first quarter on the bench and working his way into the game in the second, Brad began to dominate the game in the second half. His ruck work was very good as he started to jump over the opposition ruckman and give West’s on-ballers first look at the ball. He competed well in the air and took some strong pack marks as well as working effectively around the ground.
Ben Hudson (North Adelaide)
Playing his first game for North, Ben’s performance was very encouraging. He got his hands on the ball most times in the first half before starting to tire a little in the second. He was very aggressive in the ruck contests and as a result he was dominating the hit-outs. His work rate doesn’t stop at the ruck contests as he looks to win the ball on the ground or clear a path for his smaller players. He always looked to use the ball to his team’s advantage and his overall skill level was excellent.
Luke Jericho (West Adelaide)
Luke played a very good four-quarter game. He ran hard with the ball and was able to penetrate the lines and drive the ball into the forward line with his penetrating kick. He kept his feet in the contests, resulting in him winning numerous possessions. His overhead marking was good and he displayed great ball handling skills and importantly he used his blistering pace to his advantage.
the one that interests me in that lot is Bock. Gets a fair write up on AFC site but not in the paper. Where is this boy at cause he needs to do something this year?
