Just watched all the vids... and I like them! The gameplay errors look to be fixed and I'd love to see the game on hard mode ;) About the giant torps, glad that is resolved would be terrible to see that in the final game.

Very excited :) The goalkicking meter looks great.

In Premiership Edition you could control the exact direction and length of each kick while in play (so you can kick out to space or really far forward of a leading player).

However this didn't seem to occur in 2005. They just automatically weighted the kick, even after turning auto assist and direction assist off.

Just wondering if 2006 will give you more control over your kicks while in play so you can weight it however you want and in whichever direction you want?

The reason I brought this up was because I noticed in the demo video (the one where Kennelly takes a screamer) that Williams looked like he was going to kick to the leading Sydney player behind Kennelly, but ended up changing his kick direction at the last moment to kick to Kennelly... just wondering was that a deliberate move by the player, or was it the game automatically adjusting the kick?

Aww, 15 days??? I can't wait that long *sits in corner and cries*
don't get your hopes up mate, it will probably dissapoint, although BlackMamba may shed a bit of light on the game, possibly a review of the demo, positives, negatives etc.

You can direct and weight your kick the way you want to, just like in Premiership Edition. That video showed the computer kicking, not the player, as the demo is only one player. The problems with the kicking in 2005 are long gone.

are you able to hit a target on the lead?? in the past versions i would just bomb the ball long to two guys standing side by side, in the hope that my guy would mark it. in those videos is seemed to be the same thing.

Haha, sorry, didn't realise it was the computer kicking.

This would still be the case if playing the game in side view. I opt for the end-to-end low camera set to far in distance. This gives me an almost 3rd person view at ground level so it feels more like you are out there playing. It's a lot easier to see up the field at who is free or leading. It takes a little bit of experimentation with the kicking meter as some players kick further than others but once you know your players you can pin point passes pretty easily (or at least confidently put it in the vicinity of your intended target).

Must say, sounds great and I cant wait!

Well done IR!

Few things for 07 - better crowd response/atmosphere and new commentary.

Also, the goal kicking meter looks pretty easy as it is going pretty slow, will it go faster/be harder when the game is on hard mode?

Thanks.

The goal meter speeds up for players who have low accuracy ratings as well as for harder modes of gameplay. Sometimes having it go slowly like that is just as hard as you are waiting for the ball to get between the big sticks!

For the ppl who like to use the side view, please tell me that the Radar is actually seeable this year so we have sum idea who to kick to instead of just guessing?

Personally, I found it hard to see. In the demo one team is white dots, which you can see clearly, and the other team is blue dots, which on a bluey-green background is hard to see.

I found that too. The demo, which is on Easy, generally has the goal meter moving slowly. So in the time that I'd be waiting for it to come back to the big sticks, I'd get tackled. I think what you'll have to do here is only use the Shoot at Goal button (Square) for set shots, and Kick (X) with a precise direction on the Analog stick for shots on the run.
I think that's a good thing coz in real-life, set shots do feel a lot different than having a go on the run.

When in End-to-End Pan (either high or low) and you say, get a free kick, I feel that the camera angle is too low, and it's too difficult to see up the field.
I played around with the camera angles for normal play and found that End-to-End (High) is too high, and End-to-End (Low) is just a tad too low for my liking.
Really what I want is to play with the Side Cam for flowing play. And for free kicks and marks etc. have a camera angle the same as when you take a kickout. I suppose it'd be End-To-End (Medium Height) if it was selectable.
But different people have different opinions, that's why I think there should be options to fully customise your camera angles.
My prefs would be -
Free Flowing Play = Side Cam - Normal
Marks and Free Kicks = End-To-End Pan (Medium) - Close
Ruck contests and Ball ins = Side Cam - Close
Replays = Cinematic Angles

Yep, it definately has. If you go to tackle someone and you're not in the correct position for it, the player kinda stumbles and tries to reach out in the direction he's facing.
However, you can dive to tackle them (for instance if you want to get them just before they get boot to ball). You can miss him if not facing the right way, or get him if you are (or even be late and give away a down field!).
I think you dive for him when you are say a metre away from him, and you're holding either sprint (L1), Aggression modifer (R1), or both, while attempting to tackle....I'll find out which button combo does this a bit later.

Frees for after disposal? That sounds like a nice touch.

i dont know if this has been asked yet. fiery hawk is their match stats like premiership edition and if there is r there any added stats liked inside 50s clearances and so on
