Dont like the drafted player range. In 2005 unless u get a top player they are pretty much all useless and it seems that this is similar to 06.

Sorry, my bad, they are actually pretty useful in 06 as they are highly rated in their areas of speciality. If you play them they will develop more quickly and will become very handy players by the seasons end (which really is the case with a lot of drafted players in real life - players like Judd for example were exceptions to the rule in that they were dominant players from the outset). The beauty of playing these guys in 06 is that after a match you are awarded experience points (more or less depending on results of the game) and you can distribute them amoungst the 22 players from that match. So allocating those points to your drafted players who played will bring on their development more so. It makes for a more interactive (hate using that word) experience in bringing on your playing list.
Hopefully you can understand why drafted players are rated this way now.

agree....but the deadline would most likely be up to sony and the head of IR Gurus....not FH.

just a quick Q FH.......no doubt a NO answer.......

It just occured that just about all rugby games(league, union) have the "playing advantage" rule..........Y not Aussie Rules Games???

Even if once you play advantage, Its play on and the ball cant be bought back if there isnt an advantage....as it would be hard to incorporate a system for your game that can tell if there has been an advantage.

Well hope you understand this one.........and if its not in 06....maybe 07!

Can't comment on extending deadlines.

With regards to the advantage rule we have guys working on that at the moment. Not sure it will get to the detail of determining whether the play eventuated into an advantage however. Like you said, most likely to be a feature of 07.

Give the rights to any competent game developer.

IR gurus are a joke company and the AFL games they have produced are so pathetic it's embarrasing.

I won't be buying the game either, from what we have seen in this thread it will be absolutely no improvement what so ever. I mean no AA? What the f*** is this? get the basics right before you stuff around with player ratings etc.

I don't want to get into a slinging match....

However I am somewhat confused.... On the one hand I agree that the AA selection is a part of the AFL season and should be included but on the other hand I'm wondering what would be more important given that time is tight?

1) players that act and play like their real life counterparts (in theory of course)

2) the ability to play a season with players who are generic and aren't really based on the guys they're meant to depict just to see if any of them make the AA side?

It may just be me but option 2 seems very frustrating. I'd personally like to see Davey burning off opponents and Rocca banging goals from 65m.

if there is going to be no create a player at less make it so u can edit the new draftees name and number

Draftee names will be generated from a larger list of names in 06. There may be occurances of player names being mixed and matched (e.g. James Akermanis) but there are a whole list of new surnames added to the database.
I understand the need to change names/numbers to reflect next years lists to match the real life counterparts. Hopefully these features make it in.

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

A couple of queries:

Will the absolute randomness of marking and punching be eliminated? will there be some skill involved?

will there be a better kicking system? i.e, the player kicks the ball straight away, and there are a number of different kicks? a button that kicks to a player in the open maybe?

will it be any good?

There is skill associated with marking and punching. It has a combination of factors associated with it - timing of button pressing and the attributes of the player in the contest. There is no randomness this time around.

Kicking has been improved. You can take steps back on the mark and run in before kicking to add an extra 5-10% to the kick. You can choose to kick in the direction you are facing, 'aftertouch' the kick or kick in the direction of the goals which tends to centre the ball to the corridor.

It's better than the previous version for sure. Personally I see it as a sign of the game heading in the right direction. It's actually fun to play.

simple way to fix it

GIVE THE ********ING RIGHTS TO EA!

IRG has done nothing right since it got the rights, you've made such a bad mess of our game that I won't be buying the next IRG round of games you give us.
Mate, you are a tosser. IRG are gonna make this game the best yet. Give them a chance. The best you could do is probly a text document in Microsoft Word with no interaction. Man EA don't want the rights to a game that will only sell in 1 country. The better IRG's AFL games are, the more they will sell and that means bigger budget :D. Then they will have money like EA.

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

It's true though.
Ilnino and matera seem like little children rubbing one out of some guy on here who is crapping on about how good the new game will be yet it doesnt include some important features, and doesnt look like coming out anytime soon.
After past efforts, i cant see this game being too great.

FH should be spending more time fixing the game than asking some clowns like matera_goal what she wants added.

and stuff like "oi man plz answer my posts fanx dude" proves you are about 12 years old, i said 14 before but that number has now dropped

 Why don't you stick to the point of the thread? This thread is about fixing the AFL games. By posting ideas and questions.

My intention here is not to 'crap on' as you so aptly put it. It was merely to find out what you folks wanted improved upon and what ideas you had for the game. We have found this site to be very useful for this purpose and have endeavoured to cater to most requests in the latest incarnation of the game. Like all game titles it's about getting a better product out there each time and that has been our goal.
The game IS an improvement despite your claims and I understand the proof will be in the pudding when the game is released to the gaming public. Until then I'd appreciate it if you could use this thread constructively and for the purpose it was started for initially.
Admittedly the game is a long way down the development track so new ideas suggested here will be slated for 2007 but lately the thread has been a great way to discuss areas of the game to see if we are heading in the right direction.
I'm more than happy to answer any queries about the game should you have some.

2 is sort of what like 2005 was like lol. 1 = better gameplay and realism :D Better gameplay/realism = Better game = More fun = $100 well spent

Players don't negotiate contracts (that's something we want to add in the next release - the post season mode is progressively getting there). There are reasons for players retiring however. The usual case for players moving on is the need to fit players in your salary cap and trade offers from other teams.

Yeah sounds alright, better off going a few steps at a time. im tipping players salary's go up as the get better though?

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

It says on Futuregamez.net that the release date for 'AFL Premiership 2006' is the 1st of June, thats like a month and a half away. Is there any truth to this or will the game not be ready by then?

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

I am somewhat anticipating just what will be served up to us this time around.

I must state that the last few attempts have been absolutely rubbish and unplayable. I have been reading this post for sometime now and am hoping that the geniune sounds of improvements isnt fools gold.

Thanks to Fiery Hawk for takin the time to keep us informed and making some sorta an effort to get a game the ppl will like, which is above and beyond anything any other previous developers have done and look at the tripe they served up.

I will stand behind Fiery Hawk and support the game, and he is puttin his nose on the line a little bit, because just like everyone else i will most likely be standing behind him with a knife behind my back just incase the game does turn out tripe LOL, nah jokes, i can cut some slack.

And to the idiots who whinge about the most little prissy ridiculous additions to the game, FFS give it a rest, the key is to get the game headed in the right direction where u are actually happy to sit down for a while and play it. Other additions can come in once they get the basic essentials of the game correct, otherwise its not worth having at all.

All the best dude, hope the game goes nicely, i'll still buy it, its only money hey? easy come easy go, and FFS u tightwads who whinge about forking out, geezez u can get games cheap as these days, plus trade in some to EB and they practically hand u the new title.

Get your tongue out matera.

roguless: why shouldnt people whinge when they pay good money for a game that is utter crap? spend $100 on a game you play a few times, gamers have a right to complain!
its like anything, if you spend money on something which doesnt meet the required standards, should you just have a smile and go 'oh well'
you are an idiot
