Read what THQ has on their web site about the PC version of 2005.

http://thq.com.au/game.asp?1220|72083

AFL football is Australia's premier sport. According to the AFL, more than nine million Australians are interested in AFL, it attracts more than six million spectators annually and both membership and participation numbers exceed 500,000.

And the powers at be (who ever they are) believe only a Ps2 version for 2006 is required!!

So they will do only a PS2 version, no Xbox or PC and this PS2 version which sounds like a minor update to 2005, won't be able to be played on a PS3 system.

Sounds like a minor update???? **** me dead, what are you on about? Have you read the thread?

Settle sweetie.

I would say that is a fair decision. Its not a big seller, and PS2 is probably the best option. It will play on the PS3 when it comes out... ALL PS & PS2 games apparently work on the PS3 so thats rubbish.

Them one has to ask, what is the point!
It won't sell enough, as everyone who can afford it will rush out and get the new PS3 early next year and the compatable games for it.

The PS3 will effectively have the PS2 hardware built in.
Anything that plays on PS2 or PS1 will play on PS3.

Plus, I'm not sure that many people will buy PS3, at $1000 a pop.

What he said and my reply had nothing to do with which platform its on. I highlighted a part of his post for a reason.

I was in one of my local EB games outlets and had a quick chat about the game with one of the blokes there and he told me his bosses just gave him a demo of the afl 2006 game to try out.

Unfortunatly he told me he hasnt tried it as yet as he hasnt had the time, but i'll prolly go back in there later this week to get some info outa him.

Maybe with gentle persuasion he will let me borrow it?

So the game is meant to be released in July.. Its June 20th and theres still no new screenshots, news, features, videos... nothing! Bit suss if you ask me. Either its not coming out for a while yet, or they are terrible marketers.

I wrote this to FH in this thread about six months ago - before they had started (page 5):

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The developers need to talk, show and demonstarte the game as they go... the biggest problem with the last release is that igurus(and then sony) never said a word about development, release date or anything...I think early on that their marketing department wrote a cheque that they couldnt cash so they shut their mouths rather than having to back down on things...

I dont want to hear the fancy crap that MIGHT be in the game (but never makes it and just stirs interest) - I want to be informed on what is IN the game.

Fiery Hawk - after all this anyalsis, footy watching, millions of ideas/suggestions and power lunches - surely the development team will sit down and make a plan/decisions on what will be attempted and what will be not - they could then info us - or are they just going to try and do everything they can in a limited timeframe and then just put half ass things into the game as has happened before

If it cant be done correctly then just dont it- make the stuff you can do correctly work perfect.

And to Igurus and Sony - the crap that you severed up for the last game (release dates, communication, bugs, promises not delivered, quality, testing) will not be tollerated - IMO if you get it wrong this time no one will care about the next one!

------------------------------

Based on the Marketing and communication so far I am sure this game will be a flop just like AFL 2005..

Hey guys I've been informed that the marketing side of things is about to be unleashed - not sure in what capacity or where but now that a release date has been established all the marketing materials are good to go. Will let you know more when I find out more...I have been told there'll be tv advertising on ch.10 during footy games...that much I know

Oh and the game WILL be released in July. I know the date but I'm not sure if I can make that date public yet.

Just little things like:

-Norm Smith Medal
-Club Best and Fairest
-All Australian team
-assigning jumper numbers to players
-ANZAC day medal
-Rising star award
-How is the Brownlow done? is it shown week by week, all calaculated at the end of the season?

And did you get a chance to add the option of 'no camera angle changes', because the cameras you had in 2005 for shots at goal were ****, the camera anfles should be like the ones from PE, where a player had a shot and the camera stayed behind the player!
