...If the opposition takes a mark after the siren, you can go up and deck him and he doesn't get to take the kick (fun but incorrect)...
Could've used that bit of knowledge today :). I was playing the game earlier (Roos vs Crows) and the scores were level very late into the last quarter. Crows bomb it long into the forward line, siren goes while the ball is still in midair, the ball lands and bounces along the ground with a Kangaroo and Crow player chasing it. I was controlling J Perry at fullback and I bumped a Crow forward at this time (i.e. AFTER the siren had already gone). Apparently it was a push in the back, and the Crows get a free kick, and goals to win the match!

1. Yep we are looking to limit the number of available players by placing all players in contracts. This will mean only players with 12mths or less remaining on their contracts can be placed on the trading block. In the real AFL there were only 13 players traded last year and they were from 8 of the 16 clubs. A total of 18 draft selections were traded too. We are trying to get similar results but balance it with the fact that this is a game.

2. I swear to god my season fixture changes...

3. Change your injury management settings to manual if you don't want the first player on the interchange bench to come in automatically. There's an interesting bug associated with it in that no matter who the player is he inherits the height attribute of the injured player. So Aaron Sandilands could be injured and replaced by Byron Schammer and Schammer is all of a sudden 210cm!

Sorry Guys, but the trading system in career mode ruins the game somewhat for me.

Playing on thru the 2nd season, and the amount of players I have seen that have switched clubs sucks big time.

Some of the opposing teams have virtually new teams on the ground.

Teams would never delist/trade this amount of players in real life, it just wouldn't happen.

Whats the point of the development system players, when you can build a team of stars by raping other teams of their players.

This has always been an issue with the AFL games that have been released.

Had a go of multiplayer today with my friend (he has played it a few times before, he's getting better) and it is AWESOME

10 minute quarters, Eagles defeated Brisbane at Homebush by 22 points

Lions led all day then the Eagles stormed home in the last quarter.

15.16 106 beat 12.12 84

Hunter kicked a freak goal in the second quarter. Empty forward 50 (all defensive tactics for first 3 quarters) and he ran onto it on the boundary line, somehow kept it in, out-manoevered Chris Johnson and kicked truly from 50 on the boundary line.

A freak snap by Lynch late in the 3rd got the Eagles to within 7 points. Lynchy got the ball 35m out near the boundary and booted it just before he hit the white line. Swish

Multiplayer rocks. I love this game. I am still playing it, it is so damn awesome.

Onya FH, tell the lads at IR that they did a bloody good job with 2006 and they will earn some serious respect (and hefty pay packets from all the sales) if they make 2007 the best yet. Just make sure they don't make the game worse like 2005.

:thumbsu:

hmm.

I finally started playing it.

It's a good game although so often all it is...."Hitout to rover, bumps other player, runs kicks to Full Foward" This happens, over and over.

Indeed frustrating even if your doing it.

FH, an idea for 2007. Teh GRUBBER PUNT omgzorz!

Got the idea down at my local primary school oval this arvo shootin goals (I'm a dead eye ;) if you know me you know what I mean) and I decided to walk to the boundary about 5m from the behind posts, face forwards (so If I turn to my right, I can barely see the space between the posts) and boot some grubber through (you know those kicks that bounce along the ground quickly? Blake Caracella kicked a few beauties at Essendon a few years back.) and drilled some and I thought to myself "wish I could do this in afl 2006" and realised "maybe ill suggest this to FH"

if you dont know what i mean, i can draw some diagrams :p

EDIT: For a better explanation, read gatsid's post

It would also be awesome if you could do the Peter Daicos style reverse banana kick along the ground that rolls sideways before straightening up. I'm not sure whether matera meant this style or the just straight forward grubber. But I thought like if you've just roved a contest running towards the boundry line you could press say triangle and the longer you hold it the longer the sideways movement before it straightening up. Would be awesome you attempt those little dribbles from the boundry line Daicos style.

Wrong. I live near a primary school which is the only one I live near so it is known as "local". There is an oval at the school I go to to have a kick sometimes.
So are you over 18???

Not sure if this has been mentioned already because i cant be bothered ready through this thread. I reckon it would be awesome if you could play a state of origin competition

Thanks for the feedback/ideas...

6. In the real AFL clearances both at centre bounces and stoppages are crucial and more often than not do determine whether a score will be recorded. The best we can do is allow you to fine tune the placement of your players in relation to their opponent at all times during the game. Like I stated in another post recently we're looking to allow you to play loose/accountable/tight with regards to your position. If all are set to tight it'll be a closely fought contest for the ball everytime.

FH

FH, when you say that you can make a player in defence play tight or loose, is there going to be an upside and a downside to each option?

For example, if the fullback is playing loose on the full-forward, will this mean that it increases the risk of the full-forward kicking goals but conversly allows the full-back to rebound the ball more effectively when the ball is turned over?

Thanks

Going by the quality of the previous games Loose will mean your fullback will be at FF or along the wing but if you play tight he wont leave your opponent even when hes got the ball.

FH, you must think I ain't very appreciative of your efforts on the game. Don't get me wrong, I think you guys have done a good job and appreciate your efforts, but I find the marking system and the AI too be ****ed up...

in some cases, my players don't even JUMP for the mark, and too many times have I been 3 metres in front, only for the guy to come from behind and get the mark. And its bloody frustrating when that happens in good close matches.

I'll stop annoying with me anger now FH, but I really do love the rest of the game.

can anyone tell me what the supposed 'surprise' is when you win the grand final?? i won it and its still the same **** so called 'celebrations' as the last version...so disappointing...why cant they make something happen that actually makes you want to win it again?? such as presentations?? surely it cant be that hard

I agree with you there Cattas. When you play a game for a number of hours on end, you deserve something special if you achieve the ultimate - a premiership. But when you win it and essentially nothing happens, it's kind of deflating.

We'd love to spend more time working on presentations and improved cutscenes but the reality for us is that we have limited time from day one and we'd rather spend that time working on an improved gameplay experience for you guys. I understand your frustration though - it irks me too. Funnily enough I played NRL2 recently to see what they had and after a whole season (I hate NRL by the way) I was presented with a screen after the game saying Premiers 2006. At least we have a celebration cutscene! I guess it's going to be the norm with aussie made games until we are given bigger budgets to work with. Would have thought they'd have more though considering the international market of RL.
