Port got absolutely screwed.

Dod Kochie root Dillon Andrews mum?

They can hardly complain both SA sides get a free home game every year

The commercial unevenness is a complete disgrace.

How would you feel being North and the Dogs trying to promote the round 1 game?

There's 8 time slots and 9 games in round 1. 8 teams have already played.

You'd think they could be one of the 7 games to get a time slot on their own as an all Melbourne clash with both teams playing their first game. Generate some buzz and maybe get some neutrals in with footy back in Melbourne?

But no they've got to be scheduled at the same time as Collingwood's home game.

At this point it looks like the AFL are actively trying to destroy the smaller Melbourne clubs.

Honest question - WTF is up with Port Adelaide's schedule

Home games vs Richmond, St Kilda, North Melbourne, Adelaide, Geelong, Melbourne, Sydney, Carlton, West Coast, Fremantle, Gold Coast - That's 5 of the 7 non-victorian teams (so will be banished to foxtel for all games).

Then the Victorian teams are the poor supported ones like North Melbourne, Melbourne and St Kilda. And a Richmond side with the wheels off the bandwagon.

They only have 3 teams that can draw in Geelong, Carlton and us. And that Geelong game isn't even primetime with Carlton TBD. Their only home primetime game is us in Rd 9.

Throw in the fact they have away games to Western Bulldogs in Ballarat, Greater Western Sydney in Canberra, Hawthorn in Launceston, and to top it off, Geelong in Geelong. (a club should only have to travel to 1 of the aforementioned venues, not 3 like Port. And if you include Geelong's 10 games, a little less than half the teams should be going to TWO regional venues, not the 4 that Port has)

And only 3 games in Melbourne, 2 of which are at Marvel, and the 1 at the MCG is in Rd 1. And if my calculations are correct, they only have 2 games with a national broadcast.

That's one of, if not the worst commercial draws I've ever seen. With a fixture like that, I'd be sitting here wondering whether they've just won the last 3 wooden spoons, with no foreseeable hope.
Yep,
Port officially have the worst draw. I think Koshi might finally want to sack Ken and wants to do it behind closed doors.

Dod Kochie root Dillon Andrews mum?

The AFL knows that a large portion of Port fans actually want 2025 to be a fail to get rid of Kenny, just giving the fans what they want.

My favourite part is a big reason as to why anyone would suggest Geelong have been handed an easy draw is by virtue of their double up fixture against.....

RICHMOND!

Geelong get to play the wooden spooners twice while Richmond don't even get to play them once. Is there any possible explanation apart from corruption?

Let me make this simple.

If a team was to be the recipient of a draw biased in their favour, this would be most easily achieved by giving them a favourable selection of double up opponents based on expected finishing position in the upcoming season as at the date the fixture is finalised.

This is what has happened to Geelong. Yet again.

The simplest credible way to work out the expected finishing position of teams is by reference to current Premiership betting odds.

Not really that hard to understand unless you are a Geelong supporter trying to pretend this isn't actual.
So we run our competition based on gambling entities???

No agenda there at all!!!

What a ridiculous notion…

Forget the gambling houses then.

You list out the 18 teams from your most likely to least likely to win the flag. We can use that for all I care. Unless you have a massively inferior ability to estimate probabilities to the betting companies of course...

I agree with the word 'simple' - if the context is ( for simpletons)
I dont agree with the word 'credible' (see above)

as for the rest of the statement I think it is quite acceptable- since it is preferenced with the use of the word 'expectations' which references the clearing mechanism 'odds' a derivative of price, in the (calculus) market for 'expectations'

also dont tag me minnow
Notwithstanding the fact your response is contradictory, what data would the 'credible intellectuals' use to determine relative fixture difficulties at the time the fixture is released, based on expectations for each of the teams in 2025?

It's also not very nice that you've called Meteoric Rise a non-credible simpleton.

Our Canadian fixture guy strikes again. Hopefully he didn't make it too obvious this time around. 🤞

Our favourite Canadian fixture guy Stoney making sure the Catters can once again terrorise the competition and also live free in Tugger heads.
Cookers melting that they have to play the Cats twice.

Anyone who thinks you can guess how hard a fixture is before the season is a casual, no idea, imagine end of 2023 you got Collingwood 1st, Melbourne (top 4 end of regular) and saints (finalist) twice…..you would have been worried.

Here they said Brisbane had the “worst” draw and they had all the teams that slid.

Exactly, Brisbane went from one of the hardest to one of the easiest draws in 2024.
It's not their fault their double ups fell off.

Clearly you cant read- which isnt a surprise.

Essendon so many prime time games is an odd choice, they are such an inconsistent and boring team to watch.
Prime tv slots is only to do with making channel 7 money. 7 knows they make bank on Essendon games no matter how bad a team they are. You want your team to get those slots, get more fans to watch your club.

Only! Only!

It’s four of the expected top eight. Entirely predictable. Do you think it should be Essendon, Suns, Crows and St Kilda that only play them once?

It’s three finalists from last year and a team that didn’t even make the eight. In all fairness it should be four finalists. Also Collingwood in opening round again, the only Victorian team to have go there for the second year running.
