Winning the last 4 games by less than a goal against bottom sides is nothing to cheer on about. Played North who came out harder and missing one of the most important and key players in Xerri then Tigers fought hard and should of won. Dee's just bombed out and lost the game they should of blown saints away. Good signs from some players there at Saints. But this whole "young" side stuff is kind of just poor excuses when they should of lost tonight against a younger and far more inexperienced side in Bombers. Saints aren't that young or inexperienced overall anyway.

They were the same age as the Bombers.

I thought Essendon with their outs would completely fall away last month, but showed a bit of grit
Will enter round 1 next year on a 13 game losing streak the worst in clubs history a win tonight would have been massive and good reward for the younger players for doing it tough the last 3 months

Embarrassing that Jye "Tank Commander" Menzie should've kicked 4 goals against you, surely NWM will be thinking about that.

Sorry have you been missing your key forward all year? Last two weeks we haven't had Mitch Owens and we have had to play an under done Philipou because we don't have anymore fowards.

mate our injury list has 17 players on it rofl.

no one gives a tinkers **** who you have missing - the point that previous person posted stands true.

Essendon deserved to win that. It was their goal kicking early that cost them. That guy that missed 3 in the first quarter will be spewing

Jye Menzie loves cooking goals.

Kicks those 3 goals and would have won the game his 4th shot was in a bees dick.

Bloke is a shocker around the goals always has been should be marched out the door at seasons end

Ball was basically living in their F50 for most of the first quarter, just couldn't get the reward. A few easy misses plus some desperate defending meant they didn't have the 5+ goal lead they should have had.

Brave effort by the Bombers. No doubt they have been crippled by injuries but from the carnage look like they have a found a few decent prospects. But this was hardly a seasoned group of established players going up against a bunch of kids. Almost a third of St. Kilda’s team tonight are first or second year players. 11 players under 22 and 6 were 19 or younger. Age demographic between the sides was almost identical and the same number of players with less than 100 games (14 each). St. Kilda are hopelessly undersized and have had to cobble together a forward line all season. In the circumstances have done well to win 9 games.

Big difference is essendon had around 9 players under 15 games , vastly less experiences than the saints and 1 player is skewing the average ages and games ( goldy ). Sorry but having a forward or 2 injured is just no excuse when you compare against an historic season for injuries for us, our entire backline has been out most of the year as well as our mids and forwards either being out for the season or in for a few out for a few, both our rucks have been out for the season, our ruck coach has been rucking!

This season essendon has smashed the record for players debuted and the most games missed by players in an afl season.

And you think its so difficult for 1 or 2 players to be out? spare me

Cobbled forward line from what I can tell you were only missing King

Meanwhile Essendon had no backine,no rucks,no midfield
King, Owens, and Butler. Three of our six forwards. With a first gamer playing.

And also why does it need to be a competition about who is missing who, really makes me feel less sorry for the druggies.

No it goes way deeper than that. King is the obvious but Camneti, the first choice CHF, has had to play back due to Howards absence. Sharman is a flanker who has had to play as the main man at FF and take the oppo best defender (usually gets the 3rd). Owens is missing anyway but he is a fwd/mid who had to play CHF. Butler has barely played due to injury. POU missing all year has come back out of touch and not match fit. Is a mid but played forward out of necessity. So King, Owens, Butler & Caminetti missing from the forward line. That is cobbled.

Appreciate Essendon’s absences have crippled them and not intending to compare St.Kilda's injury list to theirs. It just that likewise we have had some challenges, primarily related to the forward half.
