Seems like patch notes are out already .. not sure how to feel about it.. thoughts?? 👀

ITS GONE LIVE ALSO! Just got it on PS5 = 1.7GB

So we can conclude Training mode, along with single player mode just never existed and they’ve taken us for a ride since day 1 🤣 I swear this mob never fails to deliver on failing to deliver.

At this stage, AFL Evolution 2 is the better game. The game that Ross bagged as having nothing worth bringing to AFL23.
The problem is, they didn't take it to the next level, it's quite flat as a game, contested play is really only pack marking, but no second of third try fumbling of a mark. It just functions at a playable level where you can actually pass and move where you want, although missing the rotating on the spot feature. It definitely benefited copying Live 2011's game design, but it has too many 1 on 1's.

So Ross has just confirmed that the PS testing is taking longer than they would like😂
Wow, It's like a game that's a complete mess would need a very long time to test and get right...

I'm starting to think that the theory that this game was only given a year in development is very close to the truth here. Maybe waiting until 2024 or 2025 and developing it over that time from the announcement that they had the license might have been the best option here. But I don't know, I don't have the "Indisputable Industry Data" here.

Agreed. It was ok but not a standout game for me at all. I liked its depth in customisation the most as well as its interface but for sheer footy gameplay, it didnt play as good as Live 1 in my opinion. I still think 23 is better but in saying that, I’m not itching to fire up either game now for a session out of pure joy. They’re both just meh for me.

Or its like the game is in such a mess that it’s taking a very long time to get it in a testable state that Nacon is happy to test😂

I thought Evo 2 had a better run and carry system than Live 2011 and 23, there's no slowing down. It really should be up to the opposition ahead of the ball carrier to stop them.

But it's comparing mediocre to a disaster, though. And I thought they were going to really give this game massive work, with a 2024 release, after Ross bagged Evo 2.

I thought Evo/Evo 2 were fantastic hence why I'm so high up on them even today.

As Bruce McAvaney would say - there's still a pulse (albeit very faint right now lol). If Big Ant can turn it around and have the game be much more playable late July/early August............. we can get back on track and enjoy the game.

Evo 2 was missing too much from the sport, and I didn't like the weightless ball and some player animations. Some were okay, like players pointing at the ground/marked spot. Evo 2's sound design with the real umpire and the whistle sounding like the actual AFL whistle was much better than 23's, not sure how they couldn't replicate that.

I’ve lost all hope after today. Clearly BigAnt want to pretend like their game is perfect and turn a blind eye to obvious issues.
I was under the impression that handballing was bugged and once that gets fixed, that I’d enjoy the game much more. However it seems after 2 months, they clearly weren’t listening to the feedback

I just want to see what happens next, what else could possibly go wrong from here ? :p

Knowing how this game has gone, Breaking it again to the point where it crashes every time you boot it up again...

Delicious

Well not really, still don't know what caused the game to crash on me first time after every update. But that was also probably user error (AVG would always scan the afl2.exe file after it updated).

Looks like Ross is saying that they haven’t pushed through the Steam Patches because they don’t want PS4/5 to fall behind.

They are only 1-2 patches behind so I don’t know why they wouldn’t just push the steam patches anyways given PS used to be more behind unless they are thinking of releasing Xbox as soon as PS4/5 are the same patch as Steam

So what’s the go over at BA then, just a bunch of people sitting around twiddling their thumbs while a third party test console patches and Steam patches just sit stagnant waiting for consoles to catch-up?

This is getting more ridiculous as time goes on and at this rate it’ll be months before everyone is on the same game version.

I’d love to know how Pro Teams testing is going across different versions of the game? 🤣

Depending on how long Nacon are taking control of patch testing, you could be looking at 2wks or more every time a console patch is needed.

This means Steam could easily end up 5 patches ahead at any given time.

I can only speak for my own experiences with the game, but I don’t have any issues with handballing like people are mentioning here and on the BA boards.

I’m on PS5, playing on the Patch 24 there (v1.0.2911)… playing ‘Play Now’ (not a saved season/management mode).
So either it’s platform specific… or something to do with playstyle, or certain teams/players… but definitely not an issue for a few that have also said they’re not having issues with it.

My vibe is that most of them are working on the cricket game at this stage.

It’s more noticeable when in congestion which others have also said.
But yeah I assume it’s heavily to do with gamestyle which is still not acceptable considering a lot of players want to play a fast paced style and the game punishes you for it.
Would love to be able to chain 4-5 handballs running off half back but it seems every second handball misses the target completely

There could still be other code branches they’re working on… for different features (maybe even Pro Team)…

Or, as BRAB Said… moved on to Cricket 24…

Or… maybe some of them are taking some time off after working late hours and weekends! Haha…

No idea… just speculating a few possibilities.

I’m sure they’ve been cruising along the last 3-4wks where there’s been very few patches.

Ok gotcha… so still happens on the run in the clear (but less frequently than the congested times)?

I think I’ve seen poorly directed handballs out of a tackle… but not 180° the wrong way… and nothing that isn’t reasonable given it’s in a tackle… so I don’t think that’s what people are talking about.

Those all seem like the most plausible answers here. At least to me.
