PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
Hello. Perhaps you've been here before. Perhaps you haven't. If you haven't, here's what you need to know: these threads have a long history of being dumpster fires. For that reason, we take a much stricter approach to moderation than we otherwise do.

What is okay:
  • Heated debate / disagreement
  • Criticising the game / developers
  • Praising the game / developers
  • General shit talk

What is not okay:
  • Personal attacks / name calling / abuse / criticising the person rather than the argument / game
  • Repeating the same thing over and over and over and over (and over) to push an agenda or attempt to dominate the thread

We will not hesitate to permanently thread ban you if you are taking too much of our time.

I think a delay is inevitable at this stage
There’s just no way you’d avoid trailers and screenshots this close to release
I’d be shocked if it actually came out on the 8th

Also, what I really don’t understand is the lack of screenshots. No one expects a massive graphical overhaul.
They can edit images and make them look as crisp as possible. Seems odd that there’s only 1 screenshot
No, I just think that's part of their plan is to hide that it's just AFL 23 2.0 shovelware again until it's released.

I think it’s safe to say that if we don’t see any promotional material for this game next week, then the May 8 release date was a cold hard lie.

It takes a marketing budget of $0 to post to Twitter, update the screenshots on EB Games/JBs websites or make an announcement in a forum.

It’s either not ready for May 8 or just a lazy, out of touch approach to the games launch.

Just let the AFL subiside a game through EA or 2K every 5 or so years. Ross and Big Ant give me depression.

I don't think that's gonna happen sadly. The AFL would probably have to dump all the money in their coffers just to get either of those two to even think about it.

Honestly, I think the fact that I've flat out ignored AFL 26 has just made me happier really. I expect nothing from this game and that's probably for the best.

If it somehow turns out good, My expectations get blown. If it ends up bad, Well I had no hope or expectations in this game anyway.

Or they don't want to show it because then people will know it's a lazy re-skin. I think that is far more likely and the same reason they barely marketed it last time - they knew any footage they'd show would be shit.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's another Rugby 25 situation and they put out a 'due to unforeseen circumstances & to ensure a better game, we will focus on AFL 26/7/8/9 instead'

Cant see it. Big difference being it's the second in the series and they announced it very recently. Would have been pretty much ready when announced.

They announced it because a YouTuber found the rating on the game classification page. Had nobody seen it, we’d know (even) less about the game.

But they didn't have to announce a release date.....do you think they just made one up? What would be the point? I understand the sentiment re the previous release history but this is the second version of a game so different kettle of fish to AFL 23 and Rugby 25

I think they knew they had to respond and I hope May 8th is in fact release date. But I’m also not holding my breath if it wont be.

Didn't the JB Hifi leak have the date before anything else? Presumably if they had the date ready to go it would've already been set by Big Ant prior to that.

Sort of what I was getting at with my comment earlier about overly complicated controls:

[Carjacking in GTA3 is] actually a very complex task," he told the fantastic Irrational Games podcast back in 2010. "You've got to run, you've got to keep up next to the car, you've got to open the door, you've got to pull the person out, you've got to get in and close the door behind you. Back in the Looking Glass days, I think if we were to do something like that, it would be like, 'Press the Shift, Y key or X key to run. Press O to open the door. Press Alt+P to pull the guy out. Press G to get in the car.' Whereas in GTA 3, you hit the triangle key, and that whole thing happens."

In other words, Rockstar figured out what we wanted to do in advance, and made it easy for us to pull it off. "That ability to interpret your actions basically made you forget about all that complexity and just focus on the depth of the game," Levine said. "And you get there without giving up the things that give a player a huge amount of choice. That's hard to do."

Here's hoping we get fully customisable tactics like a similar but updated system to Live1 and hopefully they have introduced the AI which AFL assistant coaches helped write for AFL23
Really should be a superflood option and an option to have players man up or guard space.

I think its pretty clear by the lack of marketing and info they're not confident in their product
