We Qbn people would also like to hear from others but unfortunately you only hear from Belco when they win, one guy from Tuggers, Ainslie blokes that have retired and as for Eastlake, we never hear anything from them....ever!

Where's FIM, Chaddles, Growling Ferret, Beer Dawgs33, AFC1, Terry Tuggboat just to name a few.

Its pretty pathetic that the only consistant contributors seem to be Tiger fans, get off your lazy ars*s the rest of you and have a go! The thread needs you!!

Ainslie must have been bad because Eastlakes game plan sux and they still won easily. As for Belconnen it appears that the pressure of winning close games got to them again and they forgot how to win. Just like the final series last year. It appears that they need to be 8-10 goals up with 5 minutes to go to be any chance.

No need to give them ammo racehorse, we play them soon.

They have to many good players to be down for to long and they are a proud club now. They will be around come finals time.

It's hard NOT to be around come finals time in this comp at the moment!
I would reckon the boys would be pretty pumped for a win this weekend against Tuggeranong - maybe they won't take them as easy as we did Ainslie.

On good news front both our District sides are 2 from 2!

Rubbish maggy. You guys were flat out and got outplayed after the first 20 minutes.Your kicking for goal was pathetic and after something like 10 shots on goal for very little reward belco dropped there heads. Were second to the ball and there skill level was way down didn't play well but don't suggest for one minute you took Ainslie lightly. As I said you had all the play in the first 20 thats not a team that came out underestimating there opponent.

ABH

I'll be honest - I couldn't give much of a toss about AFC Canberra firsts, other than I'm glad to see that its an even comp this year, even if the 4 will end up being the same 4 as last year.

CD's is where the action is- ADFA, Harman and Belco are all undefeated. Gungahlin suffered a surprise loss to Murrumbidgee, who recorded their first CD1's win over the Jets in a long time (potentially ever) last weekend.

ANU were rolled by Belconnen, and Woden went down in an upset against Eastlake.

For last years finalists, Harman is the only team undefeated after two rounds. There is a genuine 8 sides competing for the four finals spots, with only Ainslie and Tuggeranong looking like they will be strugglers...

CD2's sees Belco, Gungahlin and Yass all 2 from 2, but wth the bye in the comp, its a bit harder to work out who is where after 2 rounds.

Exactly - how good is the competition this year. What was the story with teh Jets on the weekend? Were they just a bit weakened or Murrumbidgee the big improvers?

Jugs have improved, Jets may have had a temporary slip. I wouldn't write them off - they lost to Woden twice last year and would still be my flag favourites...

ADFA could be the genuine dark horses - speaking to a few others who have seen them play, they could be back to the dominant ADFA of old...

Now now ferret great to see you passionate about the cd's comp as many are.But the senior comp looks to be a much tighter race than last year with all clubs looking like they could provide a surprise on any given week, are your comments a direct result of the flogging handed out to the once mighty pies, thus giving you a complete lack of interest in bigger comps.A loss to caaaaaarlton always hurts you a little more big fella, sure your phone would have run hot this week.

ADFA could be the genuine dark horses - speaking to a few others who have seen them play said:
Having picked up players from the SANFL (Sturt, Norwood, North Adelaide) and the VFL, I'd say there's a very good chance ADFA will have a good year. Could be disrupted trying to re-schedule games due to work, but that would depend on opposing clubs cooperating with them I guess.....:D

Dead Eye - your mob in the AFL are flying high, and could lead to my little club heading back to Melbourne for the end of season trip this year - almost guarenteed a Melb prelim final with the Cats, Dogs and Hawks flying high and the interstaters not quite so impressive... My Pies will improve!

AFL Cba - Swans weaker due to 13 senior players only rule.
Belco - weaker - or just not gelling yet?
Queanbeyan - strong across all grades
Eastlake - see Belco
Ainslie - on the up
Tuggers - how long will it last?

Ainslie are definately big improvers this year and getting the Creek boys will add depth - which of the two Ainslies is the real Ainslie?

Might have to come on that eos as the mighty hawks could reasonably be playing in that prelim. However a season is a long time and anything can happen ask port after last week and that was in just 30 minutes. As for Ainslie and all other clubs only time will tell. Most clubs have fair turnover each year and as you know from our own little club keeping a nucleus is a very advantageous position to be in,Thus QBN start to season08 they have kept a fair number from last year and that has helped.Reports were that belco got nobody 2 Underwoods and a few new names puts paid to that suggestion.Swans not only had trouble from the 13 player situation, but no grundy everitt playfair crouch and many more all these to come back in and with ones flying high will make them very strong in ACTAFL again.Eastlake very good last week Ainslie outplayed and down on week before,Tuggers hopefully Horney can keep them going all year would be good for the comp. All in all agood season ahead with surprises all year forcasted possibly more so than any rain.

Pretty much on the money there DED. Reckon player depth will be an issue as all sides look as if they will fall away quickly with injuries. Couple of key players out and tight games will ensure plenty of upsets.

Interesting to see how Eastlake go this week against the Tigers after a better performance last week.Tuggers will trouble a lot of sides with their game plan but lack the big bodies to get through all the way.

Agree with ABH, the Magpies will be there at the end. Too many good players to stay down. Ainslie need to bounce back but should be much improved.
Swans, see above re player depth which hits them on two fronts,Ists and 2nds,but will not win it I reckon.

I know a lot of people are talking up the Tigers chances but I was an interested onlooker last Sunday and I wasn't that impressed with their game plan - couple that with an injury to their "gun recruit" Andy Carey (he was taken off early in the 2nd and went straight into the rooms, never to be seen again) and it was a pretty poor day for the mob over the border.:(
I thought they looked slow and had about three players carrying injuries or at least receiving them early in the game (R.Jaques, Kavanagh and Armstrong); this weekends games will see that there are no undefeated teams left in the comp. after 3 rounds!!
Belco will bounce back... that you can be assured of:thumbsu:; Tuggeranong will be shattered after this weekend and Ainslie won't be far behind them after the Swans belt them as well. I think the Ainslie I saw in week one are the real Ainslie but that won't stop them from losing to the Swans, and if it's a blow out; expect things to get a little uneasy in the Tri-colours camp next week.
ABH, Original, can either of you tell us what is wrong with Carey and how long he will be out for, if he's out at all?
3GM, did Knowlesy re-injure his knee or is this a new injury, he doesn't look to be moving very freely at all - in games or training..

Sorry it's been so quiet ABH, i'm not on the coal face at TFC this year so not completely across everything that's going on although I do get the occasional snippet or two!

Boys have started very well by all accounts, the young kids especially are embracing Horney's game plan and fingers crossed they should be able to pull of an upset or three throughout the year.

Had a look at Noel Sibly's match report on the QBN website during the week and was pretty unimpressed with the arrogance displayed though. I know that it hasn't gone unnoticed down in the Valley.

P.S. Ned Sibly sucks and needs a new tooth.

Have to agree with you there TT; I thought the match report was directed at how poorly the Tigers played without recognising how well the young Hawks played. I know Horney watched the Tigers play the Swans the week before and came up with a very good game plan that his team almost pulled off for him; another couple of weeks match fitness and they may have just had the legs to do it... will be an interesting match next time round. I did tip ealrier in the year that the Hawks will push Eastlake and Qbn and could possibly crack through for a win or two against these two - can't wait for this weekend when they take on the Maggies. Whilst I think the Maggies will come away with a good win; it won't be without a bloody good old fashioned belt out for four quarters - Horney should after all be reasonably familiar with Belco's style of play!!:D

007 - I think the people talking up the Tigers weren't at the game against Tuggers. As you can see from this thread they have been given a fair bit of stick for their performance in the 5 goal win. Rest assured this has been discussed with the playing group that the process from last Sunday was unacceptable.

As for Carey its all good news, xrays showed no break and he trained last night and will have a fitness test tonight.

Unless Eastlakes game plan has changed from last year they wont beat the Tigers at MDO. They played very negative footy against the Tigers with a certain leader looking for the easy option of playing loose down back instead of getting where the action is! Tigers will need to get used to this tactic of teams playing loose in defence, kicking sideways and backwards. Ugly to watch from a spectators point of view but Tuggers proved it effective last week for 3/4 of the match. Tigers have worked on a plan to combat this so time will tell if Merv is on the money!

If you cant get to the game on Saturday you can listen to all the action on QBNFM 96.7.

Thats a bit harsh ABH I for one like to be across all grades and find it interesting that the cd boys are as passionate as any of the rest of us.They are a little ahead of us as far as there comp can we remember the good old days of 8 and sometimes 10 teams in a comp. They have 10 in 1sts and 11 in 2nds pretty good for what we are regarding a second rate comp. Also allows for 2nds players who don't get a game to play down there.Regarding that are you boys at QBN still sending some to the hogs,if so how many are missing 2nds selection each week.

Welcome back TT.

Fair point TT but you must remember its a Qbn website and its Tiger skewed.
Leave the Tuggers praise to the Tuggers website.

By the way TT, are there many players missing from the 1st's down the valley?? Depth looks to be a real problem with both 2nd's and 18's getting a belting on the weekend.

DED - its was said in jest and thanks for taking it as such.

Im pretty sure our assossiation with Harman still exsists, even more so with Kawsey at the helm. From the past the lads are given the option to goto the Hogs for a game. Not sure on Kawsey's numbers or if the Tigers wait a few rounds to see who can or cant cut it at 2nd's level. One great story from last year is Tim Cook. Part way through the year he was told to get some game time with Harman. It looked like his Tiger year might be done. To the boys credit he played for the Hogs and trained with the Tigers, won his spot back and played in a ressies premiership side and was one of our better players since his return. This year he played in all the 1st's trials and his performance earnt him a call up against the Swans in round one. He played well enough to hold his spot against Tuggers and should line up again v Eastlake. Great story of never give up. Not bad for a guy in his 2nd or 3rd year of footy!!

ABH - thanks to the AFL Canberra Strategic Review of 2007, its not CD's, its AFL Canberra 3rd grade thank you very much! :D

Although anyone who talks about it still calls it CD's - and the older blokes still call it the Monaro League

Old blokes like me you mean ferret what ever we call it we have an extra 500 blokes playing Aussie rules instead of some other stupid game.ABH good on Tim as a coach they are the stories you love to read about.Watch out for that tongue in cheek one slip and it could get bitten off.
