Campbell Lake has definitely got me interested. His write-ups basically tick every box of what we seem to be targeting; speed, instinctive forward craft, aggression, and genuine competitiveness.

Also helps that he’s 21 now and apparently no longer rocking the helmet, which somehow feels like an important development.

Sam Toner seems alright. Not sure if it’s the Richmond jumper or just the way he moves, but he gives me a bit of a Steely Green / Seth Campbell vibe.

What worries me though is that in his BOG highlights package from the weekend, I somehow watched him kick two shanks out on the full, fumble a couple of basic marks… and, most alarmingly, get out-bodied by Jaxon Binns on the wing 😳

Agree. Not confident at all on this pick. Doesn't like any physical contact.

Binns is a beast 💪

This is what I really like about the mid-season draft.

Most of the players have had very limited exposure, and outside of maybe the first pick, there’s barely any genuine leaks coming out of clubs.

Compared to the national draft … where coverage is nonstop all year, the media cycle becomes oversaturated, and fans gradually convince themselves their club has to pick a certain player based on rumours and hype, the MSD still feels unpredictable.

I’ve seen posters throw up all sorts of names and arguments for who would be the best selection: Toner, Lake, Riley, Herbert, Bamert etc. Makes it WAY more interesting when there’s no clear consensus.

I mentioned Bamert a couple of weeks ago and Walshie went ballistic.

If we take him Walshie may bale on this forum.
It's possible. If we do you could convince me that Nick Austin's settlement with the club was allowing him to make one final pick at the MSD.

Don't think he's a bad player but don't think he's a good fit for our needs.

Fair bit of smoke.....

"Forward Sam Toner seems to be back in vogue after a breakout state league performance, particularly with Carlton opening up a list spot."
