There were some clear hints in the lead-up to the game that we would see glaring issues like this which should have been picked up earlier. They are of course consistent with WW's track record, and we should have known what it meant when we saw stuff like absurd player details that didn't get positions right and player models that couldn't even get the skin colour of a player right, let alone other prominent distinguishing features. As much as the discussion focuses on lack of money and resources, it sometimes feels like a lack of care or attention to detail. How hard would it really be to get people to playtest the game to identify these problems?
A lack of knowledge as well. Zac ****ing Clarke is rated higher than Walters......

Can't think of anything worse than downloading the entirety of this game off of The PSN or Xbox Store. You'll be bitterly disappointed.
and paying $100 with no refunds/ returns

I haven't even downloaded 2 gig yet and I already regret it, worst decision of the year, let me wind back the clock 15 minutes.

What the **** is this??? That's putrid.

Just won my first game. Oh the scenes!

Was down by 4. 1 min to go. Ryder bombs inside 50 and Robbie Gray pulls down a big mark in the pocket. I'd back him to kick it but he hits the post and with 32 secs left, I think I'm done for. Then Allir turns it over from the kickout and Westhoff snaps a goal on the siren for the win!

Block him? The game is pretty shit so he's not lying.

Maybe I did go a bit OTT but if people don't like my posts I'd rather them block me instead of publicly telling me to shut up.

I'll stop with the negative shit though.

I'm hoping a patch comes out in the next few days that fixes a few problems. So far enjoying it though, marking is impossible even when following advice given from this thread hopefully this will be adjusted in a update soon.

FIFA normally has a few things overpowered or to hard when it first comes out but they do patch it,I'm hoping its the same with this

Ah classic. Wicked Witch studios everyone.
Hey it's not that bad tbh just a few things need ironing out I feel like people had their expectations set way to high for a small aussie developer

One line review:

Only buy this game if you want to shit talk your mates ... (although the group has reached consensus on returning the game. Mostly because the flaws make single player unplayable if you've ever played any decent sports game)

Also once you get the hang of marking, the game is much more fun. It helps to hold in LB and wait until you see them move into space then kick. Then I just press the mark button as the circle goes white. Pressing and releasing didn't work for me but that method seems to.

Also to get out of the backline, I usually kick big toros which either get out the back, I mark, or if they mark it they can't kick goals from there.

Just for a sec I actually wanna hear from people who are enjoying the game and the reasons why; it might help me enjoy it more too.

I certainly don't think it's amazing but I don't think it's crap either.

I do think there's a lot of hyperbole in the thread but the turnaround from "it actually seems alright, best AFL game yet" to "worst game ever" is quite astounding. WW would be having a torrid time reading all this

Just to swim against the tide here, Im enjoying it.

The lock on to a leading target opens it up. Going the spoil option is my go to.

Ive edited my North team ratings to get more player separation and it feels good. Slow players are slow, bad players are bad. Ill do the rest of the league and that will only help.

What do you think?

From memory you hated AFL Live 2 and returned it straight away.

The cynic in me says enough people don't return the game and everyone involved can simply shell out a shitty product and make money on it; there's no need to pour too much into it because the market will buy it regardless.

I honestly think outside of the marking (which I think can be patched up) and the commentary getting every single name wrong (probably can also be patched up - or muted altogether), it's a pretty good game. It's not AFL Live 2 with a paint job like some are saying, it plays much better, with much better animations. It is at least on par, gameplay wise, with Live 1.

Just an opinion.

P.S. I did encounter a bug in Be-a-pro where they kept replaying the 4th quarter and I had no option but to exit the game. Pretty annoying considering I got B.O.G.

I played only one game tonight against the ai, but from what I played it wasnt too bad at all. Not sure why people are having so many issues with the marking, maybe it's better to play it on easy for a while and get used to the controls, both spoiling and marking.

The negative voices are always going to be much louder than the positive.

I wont know how it compares to Live 1 until I've played a few games online. Live 1 single player was terrible, but the multi was amazing.

yeh, i'm going to quote this from the official FB page for evolution...

"People have to remember how little of a budget they had to make this... no where near the same amount of money EA or 2K have.
Its a step to bigger and better things as long as they bring a new one out every year and make it better each time

:)

This is still fun even though it has a few expected floors that im sure they will fix

:)!"

Wicked Witch made:

AFL Challenge on PSP
AFL Live 1 on Wii
AFL Live 2
AFL Evolution

Small budget or not, let's not act as if this is their first crack at it. You'd have thought by now they'd realise that AFL is not played as 18 distinct pairs of players attached at the hip like a primary school buddy system.
