Just had Sandilands get injured and my back up ruckman (Griffin),who started on the bench but had come on earlier in the game, automatically moved into the ruck while Pearce (who had interchanged with Sandi) moved to Griffs position at half forward

Seems WW have got the interchange working well when it actually works
Hmm not so sure. I constantly have Lachie Hansen in the ruck.

It's the first honest score I've seen. Every other review seems to acknowledge its many flaws, and then proceeds to gives it a passing grade, seemingly because they don't want to hurt anyone's feelings too much.
Yeah interesting isn't it - I tend to take more interest in the actual comments these days than the overall mark. I've read reviews of other games where the author has been gushing about it then proceeds to score it a 6.5!

I find the Aussie reviewers all the same, I don't trust them at all. So is this game worth purchasing? I am yet to make the leap.
I would like to see what the general consensus of Big Footy community is, has there been a poll yet? if there is please point me in right direction. Chur.

Amendment - I just read the Meta review by Stevedior, it states its a port from last gen. Is that actually confirmed, because if it is then that is all I nned to know..cheers in advance.

There is no poll. We are genuinely spilt. Me personally I dislike the game yet I'm rated #15 online on PS4 so obviously there's still some fun to be had from it..

My opinion is to buy the game from eb games. Either price match or pay a little bit extra. Because you're able to return it if you dislike it. Judge for yourself whether it's good or not.

No, If it was a straight up port of AFL Live 2, We would be all asking for the heads of Wicked Witch. It plays much better than AFL Live 2. It's not a FIFA-level game but there is some fun to be had here. It's a 6.5 from me. This is a good base and if they can improve on this with the next game, We're back in the direction we want to be.

Hopefully, the patch comes out soon and it'll improve the game. (There are some bugs here, So I would suggest waiting if possible.)

Look past anyone who says it's either perfect or completely shit.

It depends on what mode you'll play. Career is bugged apparently. Season mode seems pretty reliable and you can edit your rosters to bring out some player differences.

  • Doesn't play like real football, at all really
  • But is still fun to play
  • Gamemodes are at varying stages of broken
  • Face-scanned players look good
  • Non scanned players are hit and miss
  • Online is standard for AFL games

I can win regularly on Hard now. Just beat the Bulldogs so it's not as if I'm flat-tracking either :p

Most recent win I was only outmarked 18-24 and I bet most of the difference were those dinky little unstoppable marks that should be patched out. Finally starting to jostle properly which helps a lot. Best marking system in an AFL game yet, I just wish it was clearer.

Free kicks were only 1-4 in their favour too. I don't concede too many now. One a quarter is fine by me.

The more I play, the more I enjoy. It has a learning curve, I can't believe people gave up after a day or two cos they couldn't be bothered learning.

I'm only playing single matches though, avoiding the other modes until the game is patched.

Getting real tired of people quitting and me not being given the win. Especially campaigners that use the ol bump off the ball constantly tactic. Just accept you're shit at the game. So jimreading, if you post here, suck a dick.

Why is medium so damm hard? Cant even get my hands on the ball and normally lose by 50+. I change the difficult to easy and then it's too easy. Difficulty settings are out of whack and need to be fixed.

To quote Allen Iverson - Practice, Practice, Practice!

OK thanks all for the response. I'm still a little unsure. I would like to DL it but the return policy at EB seems the road I will travel due to the mixed responses. (I have done this previously with Rugby Challenge). Maybe wait a patch and watch more you tube footage..(other than twisties, seems overly positive)

Re - The statement re the 'last gen' porting.... It is highlighted at least twice in the article and is the leading CONs summary point, the comments in the review strongly suggest the writer actually knows this to be true or it could be more a rant (Its a lie...? is quite a bold statement). The review seems quite in depth compared with others I have read. Has anyone actually asked WW the question and has it been rebutted by them?

Anyway probably best just to try it myself like all have suggested.

I had a match where the AI had 96 marks while I had 4 (reckon the stat is glitched as I felt I marked the ball more). I still won but it was a shoot out.

In terms of the quarter length I reckon 20 minutes will be fun (compared to doing full length quarters of Fifa, NBA 2K, Madden etc) and I'll attempt it one day.... would see Roughie kick 50 at the rate I am going lol.

Has anyone else encountered an issue as a rookie with stamina?

I've been taken off the ground from being fatigued every match in my TAC Cup season, and instead of simulating the game I have to watch it to continue playing that game (or it simulates to the end). I've increased endurance in my attributes but there's no "stamina" bar to be seen.

Any ideas? I'd like to play the whole game (rather than 50% of it)
