Cut together a quick example of the bullshit that infuriates me in marking contests.

Kicking to leads, both times I've had perfect timing input AND got into the better position. Yet for some reason instead of taking the mark they stop still and do a stupid standing vertical leap while the AI runs past like you were hoping your player would. So annoying.

Was just going through all my saved clips on my PS4. Another one I had saved was an occasion where the AI had decided it was scoring a goal and no amount of outplaying them was going to stop them.

Sounds like the marking from AFL Premeriship/2004 where that was the only kind of mark the user could take lol

Can't remember exactly, I reckon it was on hard.

You gotta turn that game speed to slowest! Way too fast and hectic, nothing like real life. I find turning to slowest (then turning up sliders to compensate in certain areas) works best. But yeah, without sliders, this might not work as well

This. AFL Live had a really good marking system in place. Wasn't too complicated and positioning always won because there was no timing system. I do like the introduction of the timing system for fumbles and what not, but I feel like they've almost tried too hard instead of keeping it basic like it really should be.
Running back with the flight almost feels like it's missing an animation to complete the mark. The momentum of the player should carry over to the mark, not come at a complete stop.
Really basic stuff I would have thought but they've tried to go all 2K on us when they're just not capable of it

Still digging it, i did the Hodge smother and long bomb goal (years ago against the Bulldogs!) as my created player... who is slowly rising up (overall stats rating of 80). Actually getting used to smothering and stealing the ball, doing it almost every time I run head on into someone. Adding it to my list of things I like emulating from the real game - from a Mick McGuane style goal (bouncing the ball from half back all the way to the forward line). to the Hodge intercept and goal from the 2014 grand final. Even managed to do a Tom Boyd style long bomb goal and matched the same kind of awkward bounce that the ball did on grand final day .

I've emulated many other real life footy moments.. have the same feels as when I played AFL 98 and was able to do a more accurate run along the wing (compared to doing it on Aussie Rules Footy on the nes), then bomb a goal from the 50m line! I'd seriously lose my shit if I was able to do a check side kick from the boundary Hodgey 2015 gf style


I purposely let the AI get back into the game that I did the smother goal in, I was in front by 8 goals.......... let them catch up and even build up a lead of their own in the third quarter. In the fourth I snapped back into gear, lost the center bounce, but smothered the kick, gained possession and kicked the ball inside the center square and it started my own mini come back. Wound up winning by a goal.

39/50 now.

I have almost all of the achievements on the Xbox, not necessarily hunting them on pc (that said I was surprised I got the coast to coast achievement earlier!).


Have watched a few cool AI v AI matches play out. Did another Hawthorn v Adelaide match. Adelaide got off to a quick start kicking the only 5 goals of the first quarter. They only managed to kick 7 more goals for the rest of the match, while Hawthorn piled on 15 goals in quarters 2-4. Good win to the Hawks .

The other match that was a much more closer affair Hawks v Bombers, the score was 61 each at half time. And Hawthorn 91 - Essendon 92 going into the fourth quarter. Essendon kicked two goals to extend their lead, Hawthorn clawed it back and hit the front, Essendon got the lead back and it went back and forth throughout the quarter. Hawthorn was able to kick ahead slightly (Essendon pegged a goal back and had the chance to hit the front, but stuffed up) Hawthorn wound up winning by 2 points.

I took it upon myself to try to change the result of one game. Hawthorn were 5 goals in front of Melbourne at half time. But miraculously they remained scoreless in the third and part way of the 4th quarters......... Melbourne were going to win as they had a near 50 point lead. With just minutes left I kicked the last 5 goals of the game.

41/50. These achievements are really starting to become a pain to get.

Got the come back to lead at 3 quarter time in a grand final achievement + Profile lvl 50 achievement.

These are the only ones I have left to get and I know for a fact the Indigenous achievement is glitched.

Has anyone else had any issues with their internet connection? When I start the game it seems to disconnect me from the internet.

This is really frustrating because it means that sometimes I can't play the game at all, and other times I manage to get in but then I can't access the fan hub.

Firstly, when changing team lineup is there any way to save it so that it doesn't just keep going back to the predetermined lineup? And secondly, so far I'm currently at round 5, and whenever I play at etihad (been against bulldogs and saints) the lineup has me choosing the oppositions lineup instead of my own. Thanks in advance all.

I'm thinking about buying the game on xbox one, do we know when the patch with the sliders are coming out? I'm just reading this thread and it seems to really improve the game but I don't want to buy it until it's in the game.

Unfortunately I don't have a pc capable of playing it at the moment

Season mode glitched after the first patch and hasn't been fixed yet. Only way to change the default team is by injury or suspension.

Yeah, works fine. Season mode used to be like that but ever since the first patch its been stuffed.

I have a save prior to the patch as Port with Ryder, Gray, Wingard and Westhoff all out of the team and I can't bring them back in now after it, I'm stuck with the current lineup going in to finals!

Is it just me or do banana/snap kicks only work on occasion? I hold L2 down as I'm running along the boundary then hold X or O but 8/10 times it just ends up being an awkward torpedo attempt on the non-prefered foot....

The bananas are dumb af. Apparently you have to be facing infield to do them which makes them impossible to do while running along the boundary.
