I think we are forgetting a very a much left out feature of AFL games. It needs a NHL style fight system

Also need to be able to yell at the umps when they make a shit call

Yeah its disappointing that despite the lists being based on 2017 all players with player likeness are going to appear two years younger. For players such as Joe Daniher this will be very annoying.

Surely WW have the capability to edit the face scans as they need to

Especially for stuff like hair and facial hair which they would have to add to the face scans anyway right?

Whatever it was that needed alterations I didn't notice it

i think they'd only bother with major changes like Gawns beard ( I imagine they'd be pretty pissed if they put this much effort into their player likenesses and still had to release with outdated looks)

There needs to be a mode where you get to be an umpire. You are tasked with getting your assigned team a premiership through underhanded umpiring tactics. You get to choose what calls to make and when (e.g. player gets tackled, press x to call for head-high), but you have to be careful, because if you're too blatant about your favourtism, you'll fill up your media and fan backlash meters, and if they get full, the AFL will have to act so as to not damage its brand.

One thing I'm really hoping for from this game is smart and challenging Ai

No AFL game has managed to remain challenging enough over time unless you count some of the old games and Live 2 which largely rely on the clunky gameplay to make it difficult

Even Live 1 suffers from this and because it's gameplay is so good it makes it quite easy to dominate (this was where the online element was so brilliant as if you were lucky enough to avoid the 'super teams' you were able to have some really good games)

In a way, yeah. Considering how big of a deal they are making about the likenesses.

But on the other hand, if it plays as well or better than AFL1 I couldn't care less. If it plays better than AFL1 then give them all the same face just with different hair and skin for all I care.

AFL2 also resorted to making AI superhuman and nerfing human players. On higher difficulties the player couldn't kick 30m with Tex Walker while the CPU could kick 80m with Zac Dawson.

Happens every year in FIFA and NBA releases too, a player grows a beard or has a hair cut and its not updated in-game. Bontempelli is the only scan at this point that doesnt look overtly like his present-day self. Gameplay is still what matters more in my opinion.

Yeah some of the 2K fans think the devs should follow players around with body scanning tech in case they get a hair cut. Some have even said the players are selfish for not uploading their own face scans in the event they grow a beard.

"Yeah, he tried to paralyse him, but he's such a good bloke and that's really uncharacteristic of him. It's just frustration coming out. I think a reprimand is enough because despite the fact that he just did it, he's not the sort of bloke to do that."
