As long as you know the difference between cut scenes and replays. Its just confusing because you keep responding by talking about replays as if they are the same thing as cut scenes.
Replays are the only cut scenes I probably won't skip by default when this game comes out

But let's be honest, if they looked like crap you'd give them shit for it

I can't for the life of me understand how people are complaining that the player models are too realistic

Seems you really can't please some people

Maybe it's teasing people by making their expectations higher? Or, they're putting too much of their budget into likenesses, which may strain the gameplay budget? Big Ant made a good case for not bothering with likenesses anymore, since they have the fan hub and having the fans use that could produce better likenesses than the developers. Also, it doesn't eat into their gameplay funds.

Safe to say by now that the majority of peoples expectations are through the roof in practically every facet of this game!! Its not going to be a 10/10 AFL game but it certainly has the deck stacked against it. But read above, everyone is getting pessimistic about every little (and big) feature that there is. The waiting just leads to speculating which mainly goes negative. I'm staying hopeful this will be the best AFL game to date once its released.

6 years of waiting for a footy game to top the bar will do that. I think it has to be said, who wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall with the behind the scenes negotiations and discussions with the Big Ant/Wicked Witch and Tru Blu, over the long journey? It could even be fitting of a movie. You could only imagine the drama and turmoil involved. "Footie nights".

At least people on Bigfooty have somewhat realistic expectations. Should see the guys on Facebook, they fully expect this be on par with FIFA 18. They appear to have no idea how small a market AFL games are for

Anyways, speaking of facebook, saw this yesterday. Hopefully a good sign there!

My expectation is that we get an ok game for a modern console - this is absolutely fine for a stating point. I'd also expect development to continue after the game is released to refine it, if development stops and they start all over again in 4 years time, that is where they will lose me. I wouldn't mind buying a version of the game every 2 years if each version just improved moderately.

We can only hope so I guess! Hopefully they can make a bit of coin from this one and use it as a means to improve the series. Not sure how Rugby Challenge went, and whether they're going to continue with it, but hopefully they've learnt from their mistakes on that, and build from there

I'm not
I'm saying that player models are close to irrelevant when you are in actual gameplay, so there is really no point getting excited about them at all

it's sad but i would argue the graphics have to come first to the every day people, i mean they own PS4s now and are hearing about this '4K' thing, they will expect it to look quite good. a lot of AFL fans never cared how shit AFL PS2 games were, they thrashed them anyway, on and offline. (this brought back memories of my 2 mates playing online rankings and supposedly getting in the top 10/20, they said people would disconnect all the time which gives you a win, oh yeah because they said people could easily tell they were 2 players on 1 team which is just too powerful :D)

Hey, I'm still looking for people to verse online with Live 1 for The PC. It lists only 17 players for something reason, though.

My expectations are pretty low when you look at all the evidence, so I don't think it will exceed Live 1's gameplay. However, it did catch my attention that it's going to try to imitate some of Live 1. I wonder how that's going to play out.

What evidence of game play is there to get expectations from?

I'm going by their previous efforts in that of Live 2, AFL Wii or Challenge. You wouldn't give a low ranked team in The AFL high expectations, when their last few seasons were poor...

I think the problem with a lot of people on Facebook is that they don't know that the AFL is in charge of when and what WW show but WW cop all the crap for it.

Considering this game had been built from the ground up, you can't base their previous games as evidence.

That sounds nice, but you can't change the fact it's the same team, thus, they're going to heavily apply things from their own games. You couldn't expect them to completely throw everything out the window. I'm not big on them wanting to imitate the old games. Maybe Live 1 with it's high pace, but they really need to go and study the sport in the same manner Big Ant did and come up with new elements. Ross said they're not interested in the sport as much as they are, and insinuated it's going to be low budget due this "balance sheet". I don't want to open a can of worms on that again, but that's how I see it.

I don't even think you can play it online on PC anymore with GFWL being dead and all. It's not listed anywhere on XBox live that I could see either. I was once a prolific online player of AFL Live 1 and even at its peak, I found it impossible to play opponents on the PC and had to revert to PS3 online. They screwed the PC community by releasing it 6 months after the consoles as they have a ridiculous thought process that by doing this they minimise piracy. They better release the PC version at the same time as consoles for AFL evolution.

No, you can still play it online with PC. I did verse someone a few times years after they shut the service down. Would you consider ever playing it on PC online again? :3

I'm way outta touch with it and would need to sort out my account as it still set up with GFWL.

Had a quick match the other day vs the CPU and couldn't even score.

I've forgotten the controls.

If I ever decide to get it out again and sort out my account, I'll let u know.

I cant believe there are thousands of posts about this game as if people are expecting to be anything close to playable, based on a few pictures of some faces.

Jesus, right-swiping desperados.

Calm down keyboard warrior. People are allowed to have confidence in the game, regardless of the game developers track record.
