Goal Kicking/Set Shots
it is terrible why can they not use the same system as last game you can do it perfect and the ball will still go no where near and thats with no wind

Team Line-Ups
you cant even view the oppositions players so you cant really get the match ups you want and say with the crows lately Talia would play on the main forward and rutten the second one but you have no way of knowing whos on who cant do tagging roles or anything very dissapointing

Winning
no theme song when you wiin??? or any celebrations and this is very poor just for normal games but then when you win pre season and premiership season cups and there is nothing come on ARE YOU SERIOUS add after game celebrations

Career Mode seems more like a manager mode
although a great inclusion why was the way 2k does NBA my player thought of look how they do it you start in the reserves and then get drafted would make sense in AFL to have similar system in place created player starts in TAC cup moves to VFL or SANFL and so on up to you where you play in that sense and throughout those two leagues you build up your draft prospects where you get looked at by maybe a more major club or higher in draft and then get drafted and have to earn your place in the starting side maybe continue in VFL or whichever one is where the team that drafted you is located and then you have to earn your way in make it seem more legit rather then being able to throw your rookie str8 into the afl make the most of doing a 15 year career mode or next time dont call it career mode where you say its about the created player when its really more about you just being in control of the club with a created player playing as well make it ABOUT THE CREATED PLAYER AND HIS CAREER

Well unlike most others I don't mind this game considering all it's glitches. Some that I have noticed:

-2 seasons completed and the 2 Brownlow medal winners have been Saad and Sam Day.
- full forward is left by himself all the time. No tag options.
-A lot of the player ratings are a long long way off.
-Trading in the number 1 pick is way too easy.
-AI just bombs long most of the time. They ignore open players.
-As mentioned before, too many suspensions and injuries and for too long.

KICKING FOR GOAL ON THE RUN
The length of kicks is good however the trajectory is too low and flat. There should be more height on kicks with a drop towards the end as the ball sails through. Majority of goals on the run are sailing through below halfway on the posts which isn’t realistic.

This definitely needs some attention as the crowd involvement is just not there. I can hear the sound of the ball bouncing along the ground over the crowed which honestly reminded me of sounds that were on the commodore 64. Sound is one area that I’ve never been impressed with on AFL games.

This!! Too low and flat. not as fun seeing a ball barrell through high.

First major issue I noticed today is after editing player ranking and then going into list management to set up teams as I wanted them the new player in a position will still have the old players body and number.

For example
In the original J. Rivers was LBP
I moved C. Enright to LBP
Now Corey Enright has J. Rivers number and body shape

I don't want to reset to default as I've changed a lot of players, but if somebody could tell me where to find the original team lists I'd be eternally greatful

This game is quite farcical.

I agree with most earlier posts, particularly the frustration involved in the relative lack of ability to play on. The original AFL Live had this executed perfectly. You could mark in space and immediately play on to get things moving. Now, it will take 2 seconds and you will invariably be chased down. Disappointing.

In my opinion, the only major gameplay tweaks that were needed from the original AFL Live were to eliminate the effectiveness of the bump and tackle, and this was done. The tackling system is great and really rewards players who get themselves in the best position to tackle. Off the ball bumps are now called free kicks most of the time - which is necessary.

The stop start non-fluid gameplay is rubbish. It is a backwards step. I don't understand why they would take everything good from the last game and discard it.

The goal kicking is fine, the people who say that they can't get it to go straight are just not doing it properly. It is quite east but it takes concentration, poise and technique - which I think it a positive addition rather than the mindless ease of the original. I am quite disappointed that they have done away with gem bananas on the run from the boundary though.

The fact that you cannot tag a player makes the inevitability of the full back pushing up the ground leaving the full forward on his own is incredibly frustrating. Not only frustrating, but almost fatal to the game. It feels as though they spent no time testing the game - we can only hope that an update will address this problem but my hopes are extremely low.

The stats and positional interface is annoying, as are the player ratings and problems with the career mode (i.e. injuries, suspension) but these are merely ancillary to the major problems associated with this game, i.e. the gameplay itself. I suppose it makes it all the more frustrating that these small issues surely could have been fixed in a matter of minutes by the developer.

What I've noticed so far -

Goal Kicking - For both set shots and on the run the kick height is just too low and kicking distance in general seems an issue especially on set shots, I have taken set shots where I have got the power bar to almost full power and my player can't even make the distance from 40 meters out (not as wind issue as its usually blowing across the ground rather than kicking into it)

Kicking in - As Has been mentioned in this thread already the man on the mark is too close for kick-ins, it makes playing on impossible.

Dodgy AI? - Was playing against Melbourne and Mitch Clark receives the ball about 50 out and takes off towards goal, Troy Chaplin comes running towards him and lays a tackle.... but Chaplin goes right through him (it was a front on tackle, Chaplins whole body passed through Clark) and Clark runs in to about 35 out and slots it through the middle. And later in that game Shannon Byrnes gets the ball about 20 or so out in the pocket and starts to run towards goal, I tried to tackle him with 2 different players and they just refused to tackle him like something was preventing them from doing it, My player finally tackled him after he kicked the goal from 0.0000001 meters out despite running 1mm away from him the whole time.

Setting the mark from a set shot - Had an opposition player take a mark right on the behind line maybe 1 meter across from the behind post, I was thinking yeah good luck with that mate...only for him to be brought to the top of the goal square and get to take his shot from dead in front, and it has happened again a few times after that for marks in similar positions (all outside the goal square).

Interchange - Everyone here knows what I am referring to, It's been mentioned before in this thread and will be mentioned another 100 times before its finished.

Ratings - The whole ratings system for both teams and players will need an overhaul, some of the ratings are just ridiculous.

Player Data Errors - Simple errors like Reece Conca is a right footer NOT a left footer like he is in the game (Bigant made this mistake too, coincidence? ;)) Luke Ball is also a right footer but takes set shots left footed in the game, and there are probably loads more but the one that really bothered me is that Chris Newman is wearing number 17 and not number 1, he hasn't worn 17 since last year.

I've only played 4-5 games so far so thats all I have found as out yet, but will report back if I find anything else.

Troy Chaplin is listed as suspended on my team list and can't be selected, but isn't on the suspended players list on the tribunal page
I had the same with Craig Bird. It never corrects itself and I ended up just letting him go when he was out if contract.

Had a good bug today. The opposition player marked the ball on the defensive goal line right next to the goal post. He promptly went back and drilled the ball into the back of the goal post and it was ruled a deliberate rushed behind.

I then got the free kick in the goal square and slotted it.

Hahaha, I had the exact same thing tonight :thumbsu:

Played a game earlier, and decided to have a bit of fun. Was 100 points up against Melbourne and one of my draftees had the ball in the forward pocket, and kicked the ball towards goal. It went through for a behind, but then all of a sudden it was a ruck contest in the middle of the ground as if a goal was kicked.

Is anyone else having issues subbing off an injured player from the bench? It seems to always use the sub on an injury-free player on the field instead of swapping places on the bench with an injured player.

Gotta put the injured player on the field, then sub him off.. Cause I tried to sub injured player from the bench, then put original sub on for on-field player, and it subbed the on-field player.

The goalkicking was incredibly easy to predict in AFLL1

DELISTING PLAYERS

My biggest gripe is not being able to delist players like in the original AFL Live game, that was one of the things that kept the game relevant for me in being able to drop players off a team's list as soon as they retired or got delisted- the game feels dated already with it not being in there. It's also annoying that the only way of changing players at teams is by swapping players. So if say Lance Franklin goes to GWS via Free Agency, you have to put a GWS player on Hawthorn's list to make it happen. The previous Footy Factory of being able to delist and freely put players on other teams worked a treat, I don't understand why they replaced it with this.

JESSE HOGAN

Was very disappointed that he wasn't included, not even on Casey's list.

At times, it plays really well. But some things that really annoy me:

  • any bit of physical pressure on the ball-carrier seems to result in a virtually smothered disposal
  • handballs are still too unreliable (e.g. dropping short, and with above point, hard to get out of traffic).
  • who was the genius who decided tackle and kick should be the same button? You're in a pack, tackling, then before you realise it you've got the ball and kicked it away because you're still instinctively tackling.
  • massively stupid that when you take a mark, your player will turn his back (on the direction you're kicking) to run back into position. This makes it impossible to link some quick passes.
  • unsure why forwards are never manned up.
Does some really nice stuff. Like the fend-off, which allows you to try to work your way through traffic. In AFL Live you'd hit fend, and your player would still be flourishing, enacting the fend, leaving him vulnerable to tackling. This one (I think) also works better for marking and punching.

AFL had a better flow on and allowed you to play a better running game.

Still incredibly stupid that neither game incorporated any technique which allows you to view handball and kicking options (as in who you can pass to), a la AFL98 with its arrow system.

I am really, really, reallllly trying to like this game, after all it is a "new" AFL game but here are some things that really bug me.

- Marking feels really automatic sometimes and it really annoys me when players bend over when you push the mark button instead of going up for the mark. Whats up with that?

- Kicking for goal from the boundary after someone has kicked it on the full doesn't go into goal kicking mode so you have to hold the goal kick button and hope for the best.

- Evading players happens to frequently, especially when playing online against some people as they are virtually impossible to tackle. I evaded 4 players one time within a few seconds which didn't feel right at all.

- When getting clean taps out of the ruck and winning clearances the full forward is left on his own about 90% of the time no matter which tactics you use which can become quite repetitive and really annoying if you are on the wrong end of it.

- Set shots feel like they don't go far enough most of the time even with players like Travis Cloke or Buddy Franklin.

There are a few more annoying things but I can't think of them at the moment.
