AFL Live 2

Why is it taking 10 days for the xbox patch?

Because they focussed on the PS3 patch due to a "leaderboard crash".

Hopefully they continue to patch this game. It could improve greatly with tweaks.

Does look like they've fixed the most annoying problems.

Makes it seem more likely that this game was unfinished when they released it

I'm not in any doubt about it being dropped unfinished, personally.

It's back in it's case for me but essentially what I'm hoping is that when I get the urge to pull it out around March or April, I'll update it and it will feel like a new game.

They weren't kidding when they said they increased the set shot distance. I just kicked a torpedo set shot goal from inside the centre square. And I don't mean just on the edge when I kicked, the man on the mark was in the centre square. Major improvement. Also, it seems that the kick meter charges faster now, at least on hard difficulty.

Is the patch out on xbox 360? I just had to download an update, not to sure what it was though.

Played a few quick games with the patch today and I really like the improvements especially the quick play ons and the fact that auto interchange now works like it did in Live 1 ( although there's still a few wtf moments). But why do subs now freeze the game argh!!! I put my sub on for someone on the bench hoping this glitch had been fixed but instead of not swapping it froze. ( I haven't tried the sub straight onto the field)

this close.
Got the patch. was enjoying the gameplay much more.
Brought my sub on. freeze.
Tried again. and it repeated. This annoyed more than anything in the original game.

annoying

I remember once the camera was being shown from behind the goals. I think it was a behind and I was kicking in. Anyway, the entire crowd were looking at me/towards the camera.

A strange thing I remember was that Daniher who won the Brownlow and Coleman, did not win the BnF.

Guys the patch came out for 360. Stupid trublue they get dates wrong. But so far it is good. But the interchange system is good. But I thought they would make interchange a bit faster. The set shots are super easy (For me). They did make set shots kick furthur. You can kick 55 meters now!!! Also, Tru Blue needs to expand on the tatctics. How come when you put manning up a chf is always free.... It is man up... Need a bit more advanced tatics. But get this game it is playable. I grown to like it lol. Due to make playing xbox live and come top 10!!! For set shots there is a certain way. I found the tactic and now score lots of goals. Hint play around with two analog sticks.

After the patch I only have maybe 2 real issues that are affecting my enjoyment while playing it. The first is kind of major, and it is the control scheme. Namely the fact that kick and tackle are on the same button. It is incredibly annoying when you are running after a loose ball, think the opposition player is going to pick it up and immediately go to tackle, only to find out too late that I have picked it up and promptly kick it most commonly either out on the full, or straight to the opposition. The other issue, is that legend still feels WAY harder than hard. I managed to thump Richmond in career mode on 2.5 minute quarters 109 to 6 playing on hard, yet can't really manage to get a clean possession on Legend. Other than this though, I feel the patch as improved this game immensely.

Without knowing much about the industry, and completely guessing all of this, my first thought would be that TruBlu wanted a game rushed out asap for minimum scratch. Hence the final product we see today. Considering the reason Ross said was they couldn't come to terms, i'd assume that BigAnt either wanted more time, or more money to be able to get the product on shelves in under a year. TruBlu didn't want that, they wanted a cheap game on shelves quickly. So they went with Wicked Witch who were, evidently, quite happy to just polish a few things on AFL Wii and ship it out in order to meet the deadline.

But AFL 2 has heaps of features AFL Live doesn't have, like Under 19's and VFL, and also everything needed for the 15-year career mode. This would have taken a bit of time to include. Also, the game is completely different from AFL Live, so that would have taken time too.

AFL Live, by contrast, had two years between games, and bought time by doing a GOTY edition. My understanding is that they did this, to appease AFL gamers, while they built upon AFL Live 1, added a career mode and a few other features. So, you would think that this was plenty of time, since they only have to add to what they already had from AFL Live 1 and GOTY edition, and they had more than two years to add modes etc. So, I don't see how time is a reason.

Not when it's pretty much directly transferred from AFL Wii.

i am very pleased with the update to be honest. They did it much quicker then BigAnt and thereare still gonna be more to come.

What are you talking about? What two years between AFL Live? What are you insinuating? Your post makes zero sense.

Nice to hear something positive about this with the patch making at least some improvements, with the talk of a major update coming down the track I might yet see if I can pick up a second hand copy from the mass returns that happened when it was released.
