AFL Live 2

Yeah I don't see what people were expecting, it's made by wicked witch.

In all honesty I think they've done a reasonable job, I'm enjoying it, gameplay is better than the first one, camera views/options aren't though. The goal kicking was frustrating at first but I'm getting a lot better at it.

And the career mode is actually not that bad either.

Watched all the gameplay videos on youtube and read all the reviews on here, doesn't look like anything special, but hey, it's an AFL game!
Got a dentist appointment tomorrow morning then going to school via EB Games so I can pick up a copy, if it's not worth the 60 odd dollars, I'll just return it :)

So they've recycled most of the crowd sounds from AFL iOS and recycled most of Dennis' commentary from AFL Live 1.

I'll be getting my money back first thing Monday morning that's for sure.

it is gayer than aids that the shrug button is on the same side as the sprint button, and R2 for a sprint button is rubbish on its own.

And what's with the ******* clearance kick!!!! It goes to exactly the wrong spot every time, it's useless Wilson!!!

Having said all that, I'm kind of enjoying playing it

R2 for sprint is standard fare

I kind of compare it to the cover choice Sam Reid, showed some promise early and needs more work to become a good final product.

I can live with the average graphics but my main problem is as many have mentioned it is hard to kick it more than 5m out of packs and it seems impossible to kick a goal from passed 30 using the flick motion. The forwards (both mine and the computers) being open by 20m constantly is annoying but I do like how I can chip the ball down the wing (albeit fairly easily) rather than the old style of just bang it straight up the guts every kick.

Plenty of flaws but I will play it because it's AFL.

As i have said before, the first 3 hours are awesome....but then you realise it is complete and utter shit.

All those people saying it is good, and it is a new AFL game etc etc, come back after the weekend, and tell everyone how good it is...

Save your money everyone....Got my refund within 24 hours and have AFL Live 1 back in the disc tray.

Oh yea, Andrew Gaff winning the Coleman hahahahaha

The million dollar question: is it too easy?

I started on the default, which was too easy. However, I can't kick goals from set shots, so I think I ended up on like 7 goals 20 behinds to whatever it was that kicked.

I haven't tried expert yet though. I can't see it being to hard.

Got through one season of career mode as Nth. Ballarat, won every game and got Job offers straight out from AFL Clubs. Signed with the Tigers, traded Ben Griffiths and Steven Verrier to St. Kilda for Pick 4 in the draft (MASS LOLS), and managed to pick up a 17 year old Forward pocket who was rated 94 overall. Found this quite funny.

A few things I think need to be changed:

Ruckman: Have far too much influence on the game. A ruckman should not be able to rove his own taps each and every time, and outrun a midfielder to get a loose ball.

Trading: Needs to be realistic. Griffiths who was rated high 60's (not quiet sure), and Steven Verrier (Who wasn't offered a contract) traded for a pick inside the top 5 of a draft.

Ball bouncing: I know the way an AFL ball bounces, but playing through most games, I'd be hard pressed to find 3 or 4 kicks that bounce that go straight. Most seem to break, rather violently to either side after it bounces. So much so, I had a Angus Monfries goal where the ball bounced about 5 meters before the behind post, and breaked violently to the right, and went through the goals. I known that it ISNT impossible, but the way the ball bounces almost every time would make Shane Warne proud.

I can hardly kick for goal.. I went for a set shot and I didn't make 10 Meters

How long do you think it will take for EB to slash prices on the game?

I think it's labelled wrong. It's not a clearance kick, it's an instant turnover kick.

Gee reading most of the reviews here you'd think people were getting a FIFA14/NBA2K14 type of product instead of an Australian developed game for a small local market. The game is what it is, a locally produced game for us AFL fans to live out our fantasies. Sure the game play isn't the greatest, but hey I've seen somethings on FIFA and NBA games that defy logic and yet nobody bats an eyelid at them.

I've played 2 full 80 minute games and enjoyed both. Unlike the first version it's not an out and out tackle festival and you can with a bit of practice put together some good pieces of play. I'm not a big fan of the U18s being called by their numbers rather than names but that along with the shoddy crowd graphics are a small disappointment but nothing that should cause people to go running back to where they bought it and ask for a refund. After all as I said the game is there for us to live out our fantasies of being AFL players.

Well logically thinking there are less things to fix in this game than in AFL Live 1. But if Tru Blu can hold one developer on this game (as much as we don't like WW) another 12 months of development on this engine and game base will turn it into a pretty damn good game.

But for what it is now, it shouldn't have been released.

Reckon it's been released to tide people over the summer months. Given the first one was released what 2 years or so ago it was about due. Hopefully as you said they do a bit more development on what they have established now and turn it into a better game for say a 2015 release.

It won't be until the DLC appears that we'll get a real sense of what they envisioned for the final product. There are obviously a few glaring issues (kicking, bounce of the ball) that could be patched short term, but the visual polish and presentation stuff will have to wait.
