AFL Live 2

Will all the overcritical flog ITT calm down!!! The only thing anyone has seen here are some screenshots and a manual. I'm pretty sure Ross said that the last AFL game didn't even make a profit and if all of you are going to hold off until the next one is released, then i doubt this one will go anywhere near making a profit and we won't even get another AFL game again.

What is with all this negativity? To be perfectly honest taking what I've seen from face value I think it looks better than the first AFL Live. Just because it isn't big ant and wicked witch haven't exactly made amazing titles in the past doesn't mean this will be bad. I really like the new gameplay mechanics outlined in the manual and if it is fun to play ill be more than satisfied. The poor developers are getting turned on for no reason...

There is going to be over 3000 players in this new game. Sweet so that means they will use tac and vfl players

Looks like the ability to view player stats after a game is in :) at least for online that is. I assume it would be the same for offline.

I don't like that, according the manual, handballs automatically go to the closest player. That doesn't seem like you have much control. What if you want a clearing handball out of a pack to a guy on his own? Will the game automatically direct it to a player half a metre from you with opponents right on him?

I assume/hope that they mean the nearest player to where your directing the handball, like in FIFA when pressing pass

I need to know if its worth buying this game on Xbox, as I'm in it for the multiplayer mainly. Could anyone tell me aprox. How many people were on the multiplayer rankings?

After reading the manual it would seem that this is based extremely heavily on the Wii version. Also seems they have the true clock

They could always come here and tell us about the game to alleviate the fears.

The reason people are 'turning' is because of the lack of information and clarity behind a) Who is making the game and b) What the game actually looks and plays like.

A lot of elements just seem poor. I mean, we get screenshots like the new ones that feature Richmond Vs Western Bulldogs being played at the GABBA? I know that there's an option to play games at any ground, but professionalism says you put these things in realistic situations to show off your game. We had the same thing with the first batch of screenshots with Collingwood and Adelaide playing at Simmonds Stadium.

The lighting on that Rich vs WB pic is also incredibly weird, everything looks orange, almost like the game is being played at 6am.

And it's already been said, but that conga line of Collingwood players in the Carlton vs Collingwood picture looks very worrying.

I don't quite get the scorelines for these screenshots either, none of them seem to be some form of 'special occasion' that would see a 4th quarter score at 7-2. So what exactly is going on?

A lot of situations surrounding this release are just...weird. There's really nothing more to say, just a strange way to release and market a game.

Reading the manual and seeing what it said about the career mode has sucked me in. Sounds good and I will definitely buy this game now.

It sounds like the exact same as the Iphone version hopefully it wont be as bad, it was addicting for a little while however the drafting and development was terrible also the trading was crap as well.

Its a thing called 'principal photography' (NR), they are focousing on getting the players in the right posistion for screenshots, the scores are because the were clearly testing some kick for goal.

Well they went to the effort to make a preorder item, what if nobody bought it? We all must support then in any way possible.

You missed the part where I said I wasnt being serious.... If I can actually be bothered to get off my butt before release day to go pre-order it I will. :p

I wish they would show it in the USA a little more. That way we could all understand it a little more.

Also, about me, cnnsi-$%#!, Big Soccer-ECUNCHATER, and Big Hoops-wolfhawkblue. So now you know who I am.
Hopefully we at least get decent collated stats system in season/career mode this time. Not a hard thing to implement even the older games could manage it.

What if AFL live was delayed until November, then Microsoft announced it as a launch title for the Xbox One, for the game to be released worldwide. Would you buy it?

I reckon all of your points are valid apart from the one I've put in bold. It's not like it is any more difficult to put the teams at home grounds for the screenshots, but I believe this is to try and spread the appeal of a screenshots to as wider crowd as possible/simply to show off as much as possible. For example if your a Collingwood, Adelaide or Geelong supporter your happy with the above mentioned screenshot. Could be 100% off the mark (and to be honest it's a really irrelevant thing to be worried about) but that's one explanation.

Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the negativity is because of us being sentimental to Ross as well, understandable to be irritated at Tru Blu for lack of information but not to wipe off the game before we've even see a trace of video/gameplay.

No, I understand why that may be a potential situation if these screenshots were of very specific moments (say a speccy or some such thing).

But a vast majority of the screenshots are basic moments in a game. Set shots? Easy. Kick ins? Easy. Mark+Kick? Easy. These are all moments that would occur regularly in a match, so I don't get why the scores would then be so low. It's not like you'd need to be avoiding scoring to get these situations to occur, is what I'm saying. Especially for 4 quarters (just set 20 minute quarters and try it in the first?).

I'd say the same if they didn't have ANZ Stadium in at least 4 screenshots.

There's also several teams we're yet to see. Two Sydney Vs Kangas pics, 3 pics with Collingwood, 2 with Bulldogs. So if they're tying to please everyone then I'd say it's a little skewed.
