AFL Live 2

How would they know you used the codes when you return a game? I doubt they'd bother spending the time to test 'em. You leave the store with your money back, nothing they could do.

Only heard about this game earlier this week, pretty excited to get this, last game wasn't great but I still enjoyed it enough. Might be a bit harder with Saints being rubbish these days.

That's the most frustrating aspect of all this. This new AFL Live has basically nothing to do with the previous AFL Live bar the license. Calling this AFL Live 2 is disingenuous as it is not a sequel to AFL Live at all. It's made by a different company and is in fact a 'sequel' to AFL Wii, in which case it should be called AFL 2 (OR 'AFL Wii 2 But For PS3 And Xbox 360'. This may be a bit long for the cover title though). If you are a fan of the Wii version, then you're sitting pretty. Otherwise, not.

Failing to announce WW as the developer suggests Tru Blu are banking on the fact that punters will think they are getting the next instalment of AFL Live, but they ain't. It's shoddy at best and devious at worst. ... in my opinion. Lack of info bar a few screenshots keeps it vague enough that the charade will likely succeed. Perhaps if Tru Blu had just bitten the bullet and come to terms with BA in the first place, we wouldn't need this ridiculous fannying about.

Look at the trailers for Don Bradman Cricket; out miles before the release date and proudly touting the numerous (impressive, to mine eye) features they've developed for it.

If AFL Live 2 is anything better than mediocre, I'll be shocked. I do genuinely hope that WW prove me wrong, but if they were on to a winner, surely we'd have been inundated with video of all the amazing features; advanced animation systems, realistic crowd noise, realistic ball physics, etc. AFL Wii with updated visuals, a different control system (obviously), some polish and a few tweaks is the likely outcome in my opinion.

Prove me wrong kids! Prove me wrong.

First of all, nice Simpsons reference. Secondly, I think the best name for the game would be 'AFL 2014' or something like that. It'd be less deceiving, that's for sure.

Meh. Call of Duty 3 wasn't made by the developer of the first two games. Knights of the Old Republic 2 wasn't made by the same developer as the original. Happens all the time.

The difference is the new developers of those titles informed their fans/customers of this fact well before the game was released. Tru Blu are so incompetent it's not funny. No doubt they're using the fact people think it's the second iteration from Big Ant to their own advantage.

Agreed, spot on.

I was going to address that point but though it was self-evident. Treyarch used Infinity Ward's IW engine to make their CoDs. KOTOR 2 was developed using the Odyssey engine, as was the first. The studios that made the originals worked with the developers of subsequent titles, it was all kosher. As Julian mentioned, it was well known publicly what was going on with the development of those series. In contrast, WW are not using BigAnt's AFL Live engine and that's apparently being kept quiet in the hope that no-one will notice. Only through sleuthing was WW uncovered as the developer. It's a bait and switch.

Anyone who purchased AFL through Games For Windows Live might also be interested in the Law Suit Against Microsoft:

I am just a gamer like you, and I don't get into facebook and twitter that much, so I am relying on guys spreading the news of the law suit. So where ever you can please make people aware of it. It affects all of us because the new method to curb Piracy has given companies the ability to tell us when to play our games via controlling how long their servers and services last. This contradicts every modern nation's civil liberties and should be brought their attention.

If AFL 2 or any other games get released under the same system as AFL you will be deeply upset if they drop services within three years. That is what they have done with Age Of Empires Online and every other game that relied on Games For Windows Live. The announcement for closing GFWL has also had reports that game support and sevices for games that relied on it will end. But Microsoft withdrew the last comment and is only letting people know that MS point system and GFWL for PC has ended 22 August 2013.

Is it even getting released on PC? Sounds like your here to plug your cause which is completely unrelated.

I've genuinely given up on any hope of there actually being any type of trailer/ Gameplay video released
Yeah, there's not gonna be a gameplay video. If by pure luck there is, it probably won't show much.

You didn't care about the wii version of the afl game. The god damn trailer is coming on Friday. Check when to wii afl was released and the trailer is released.

It's exactly the same. You didn't care about looking at the wii version so this is what you get. A desperate Wait for the trailer. Calm the hell down.

This thread continues to dish up very little.... Promotion of the game has been very poor.. The conversation topic on here is all over the place...

True. Every few posts is on a different tangent.
The fact that we are not being told anything about the game from the devs does not help keeping up on a certain topic.
We just need to keep chatting here until they tell us or show us something interesting

I really don't get the logic behind not releasing game play footage, trailers etc.
2 years ago they had the game setup at JB and you could play it like a week away from the early release. Any news if that will happen again?
