I posted this previously and for some reason no-one noticed, so ferchrissakes pay attention - I got asked to be part of a focus group to iron out some bugs in said game (was meant to be last week but got rescheduled) so if anyone has any REAL suggestions let em fly, I'll pass on a few. Of course, it may be perfect and need no improvements. But then, I might also invent a car that runs on dugong tears tomorrow. Meh...

Make sure they get the marking right & allow us to handball when we push the button, not when the AI gets around to it.

Player edit would be nice, if ya can swing it. ;)

Fix marking, so people can't sit on thin air while your player bends over ten metres away.
Fix playing on, so you don't have to wait for the opposition to get set up before you play on.
Make goalkicking more dependent on the skill of the kicker, so you don't get scorelines of 27.1
Fix the media votes. If Fred kicks 10 goals from 10 kicks, and Billy, his opponent, doesn't touch the ball except his 11 kickouts after points, Billy should not be best on ground.
Make the commentary accurate.
Make sure switching players around works properly.
Make the ruck tactics work.

I've stuck entirely to bug fixes here. Feature requests, I'm aware, will not be in your purview.

i reckon if possible make it so u can trade players
um harder kicking for goal, making so it is harder to win the ruck tap every time with certain ruckman, more injuries and suspensions

And players shouldn't be taking screamers in wet conditions. It makes no difference in the rain which is crap. And make players who take screamers in actual games. As if a full back is going to take a screamer over the full forward.

Totally agree! The weather never affects the match. I love that speccies are in it but the AI takes 50 a match & NEVER misses, it's a low % play in real life.

When the spectacular becomes the norm it's no longer spectacular!

We won't get half of this but improved game play is the key.

One thing I'd like in the game, is creating your own footballer, and team. Like in some games, you can create your own player. And in some games (FIFA Football, and Triple Play Baseball) you can make your own team. And have it's own logo, etc. Club song would be the hardest thing, though.

If its only coming out on XBox then you can should be able to add a custom club song from your custom soundtrack.

WWE Raw 2 has an option where you can add your own custome music for the wrestlers entrance music, so if they can add in the create a team option they can add in the create a club song option as well.

Or PC.

That said, it'll be for all three consoles and PC.

Are you lot really more interested in creating players and custom club songs than good gameplay and less bugs?

No, I thought having custom teams would be good, I'm hoping the game has the numbers on the players backs. And get better angles of the game play. Because the camera angles on the other AFL games didn't help you see what you were doing.

So the focus group was last night, and it was really cool. There were 4 PS2 dudes and 4 xbox dudes. I have no idea how the ps2 dudes went but there was heaps of constructive ideas brought forward in the xbox group.

Premiership Edition is (as no surprise) pretty mucch just AFL 2004 with updated rosters and team sheets. There is a large component of unlockable video content which is pretty cool, and after playing for a while it seems as though some of the gameplay has been improved a bit too, not in terms of adding new features (don't go looking for a new game here), but a lot of the bugs that were apparent in 2004, and the re-released 2004 seem to have been irroned out. Players do actually seem to get injured occasionally, the falling over when going for a mark seems to be gone completely, the players turn around much better than in tthe previous version and speccies over no-one seem a lot less common.

The most exciting thing of the night was talking about the 2005 version due out in about a year, with heaps of great new additions and a totally revamped ai and gameplay engine it sounds like these guys have REALLY got their act together and plan on releasing a title that is just going to rock everyones sox off. Sure, there is a long way to go, but iff only half of the things that we spoke aboutt last night are included it will totally blow away 2004, and then there will be a solid game to add to in future releases. It seems as though they have pushed the 2004 engine about as far as it can go, but their sights are sett on a new, better tomorrow.

imprroved AI and a great Live component seem to be a focus for 2005, as well as future seasons and a draft, i could talk forever about the features that we described, but of course nothing was confirmed, they were all jsut ideas. I must say though, i did leave the building very excited about the future of this game series and about the Acclaim > IR Gurus partnership.

. . . aside . . . we also played a little bit of World Championship Rugby which looks great, it was developed in the UK by the dudes that made Jonah Lomu Rugby and seriously, it looks **** hot. Due out in a couple of weeks i think.

From the PS2 room point of view things weren't great because the 100+cm tv we were supposed to play the game on was on the blink, so we had to settle for a 63cm jobbie. Regardless, as was mentioned above by Sammi, much improvement has been made and the inclusion of unlockable video content will really add to the longevity of the game. Incidentally, 2004 will no longer be for sale, effectively being replaced by AFL Live PE. Shame about the tv, but the pizza was good!

Oh yeah, and the new intro is light years ahead of 2004 - actual footage, and no Grinspoon! Plus there is a choice of heritage, Wizard Cup and away strips along with the original, so as the man said, much more polished and probably what 2004 should have been in the first place.

Rugby game looked good too, and will look forward to playing them both when I get my free copies in the mail:)

Hell yeh. Cant wait to get premiership edition. I wanna see nathan brown tearin down the middle and delivering to richo on the chest it will be sweet as. Good to see no bugs and that there will be a draft in the 2005 one. Does this mean national draft or a trade period
