Having my closest game in a long while offline at the moment. Up by 5 pts at 3 qtr time against the Lions . Though they aren't doing so bad in my season, 4th I think, so I don't feel too bad. I actually hope I lose or at least for the match to be a close one. Will post if I lose...

Oh, and I want in on these online games when PSN is back up :thumbsu:

LOL, when the PSN is back up I am definitely itching for another game against you.

Definitely noticed the similar styles and gameplans of each of us, no doubt the reason why neither of us could even gain much of an ascendancy.

Haha definitely.

Rich: 3.1 - 8.2
Geel: 2.3 - 2.3

Just to show what I mean by the contest being even, here are some stats to half time:

Disposals:
Geel - 73
Rich - 68

Cont Poss:
Geel - 47
Rich - 28

Uncont Poss:
Geel - 49
Rich - 45

Marks:
Geel - 17
Rich - 4

They play backline in front, so I keep turning it over kicking inside 50 (you better not use this against me HBK :D). The majority of the game has been played between the 50m arcs and really I have felt it is an even contest, but I got the momentum and kicked 5 goals to none, all coming in the last 12 minutes. I reckon this shows momentum is just too strong at the moment, take these purple patches away and the difficulty would be where it should be IMO.

Sounds good :thumbsu:

Ended up winning 84-48. One of the better matches I've played, probably didn't deserve to win.

I said I'd only post if I lost but whatever....ended up winning by 6 pts in the best offline game I've had so far. 30 secs left and they get a mark in the middle with no one in sight, goes for a run and kicks inside 50 to a leading Fevola. Luckily for me, Gibson just got a fist onto it as the siren sounded to end the game. Nail biting stuff I tells ya :thumbsu:

What I really liked though was that I decided to shift Buddy onto a wing as he hadn't kicked a goal up until half time. Didn't shift him back again until 5 mins left in the last and he ended up with 15 disposals and kicked 2.1....With 5 min quarters, they're some fairly good numbers.

Hey guys been playing the game a bit, went straight into season and put it on easiest difficulty and well starting to play well. (Xbox btw)
Lost first game by a couple of goals after they got the run on.
Won by 100.
Won by 24.
Won by seven goals.

And recently kept Port Power to 0 points.
So time for a difficulty bump I think.

Anyways few things,
Ruck contests, I'm trying to get to the front in a boundary throw in and just generally at the peak height of the ball in the air I just push right stick where I want to tap it?

Goal kicking:
I basically just use left stick to change where my guy is looking by a tiny bit, then hold x and try and get it to stop in the middle of the marker/blue thing?

Originally I would just have a shot by holding X and not even going into the goal kicking thing, would work beautifully :D

Tiny bit unrealistic tackles, maybe more tackles missing would be good but other then that enjoying it right now.

i've noticed a rule which hasn't been put into the game.

"15.6.1 - A Free Kick shall be awarded against a Player who:
(f) hits the football Out of Bounds on the Full from a boundary throw in or a field bounce or throw by a field Umpire."

so ah, yeah

Wow, never knew that was a rule

Very well put and exactly the same way I feel.

I'm pretty horrible in the ruck so really I can't ever do it like AFL 2007, but it is one of those things that there may be a struggle to win the ball in the middle of the ground but around 90% of the time I will end up with it due to overwhelming pressure. The only times the opposition will beat me out is by spotting up targets up the ground by long kicks.

It can be a tough slog of a match, but no matter what I always have the pressure to take them out. A lot of it comes down to lack of reaction from the opposition before a tackle, they get caught with it a number of times (although holding the ball rarely happens as it'll bobble out) while I'm very quick to get the handball away before they get to me or just as they do. - It's also why online when players get better will be fantastic...and why you and me have had some corkers online.

It's one of those things also that it feels WAY harder at the start of a match than after qtr time too. Numerous times I've started a match and been down at qtr time to the opposition, yet from there just kick away, it's really quite strange.

I also agree. Sometimes the second half is just too easy, it is as if the AI just gives up or something.

Has this been programmed in at all? It definitely feels like the start of the game is supposed to be tough and the rest too easy. The game can be a slog at times but then I get gifted a couple of quick goals and that is almost game over, at times the opposition ruckman will actually smash the ball towards my goal and I'd have a player run on to it and kick an easy goal.

Also sometimes the AI miss some terribly easy goals which makes it easier because set shots are quite simple.

I am still loving the game but I am getting a bit worried that I am mastering the game too quickly, PES took me months to master the highest difficulty and that can even be hard to beat at times (different scoring systems obviously help). I would love to see a tougher difficulty implemented, or just increase the existing ones which sounds like it would be easier to do.

I play on to myself then usually bomb it outside 50 to the flank, doesn't always work though. Sometimes the AI will outnumber me and just knock it down but it is far better than just kicking it out from the goal square.

The AI plays no differently based on which quarter it might be, it does react to the scoreline or momentum, like in the real game if teams get on a roll they are hard to stop and the oppositions heads will drop.

What do you guys do when you kick out?do you play on? or kick to a player

Hardly ever play on from a kickout.

I pretty much always stab pass to one of the pockets, or if I have a guy 20-30 meters out with no one in front of him or close enough to chop out a pass, I stab pass it to him for an easy mark. Then I work the ball out from there with another stab pass or a bomb.

Probably one of my favourite things in the game is the kickouts :thumbsu:

Yeah but as I said previously, I get on a roll and kick 6 goals plus, the AI gets on a roll and struggles for 10-15 minutes, maybe kicked 2 or 3 and then I get on a roll again. Generally this is the way my games go on legendary.

I know it's been talked about before but I'm having trouble with the heavy bumps trophy, how do I perform a heavy bump?

No idea, although I did complete it last night. I don't bump at all so it must be something to do with tackling.

Really finding my groove with the saints, only tactic I change is defenders in front and chuck clint jones on the tag.

Simming the round 19 games first then playing Bulldogs v West Coast works.

Robert Murphy is my inaugural Brownlow and Norm Smith Medallists. Barry Hall got the coleman medal.

Can also confirm that the crash is avoided by simming AI first then playing your game.

Antony just won the premiership trophies just fine and had Eddie Betts win the Coleman, Brownlow, and Norm Smith - looks good - photos of him in the trophy room to follow later this afternoon :)

Murph was second in the Coleman for me. Should've looked to him more to get the trifecta. :)

Ross, are you able to put in the ability to use a custom team that is over the salary cap in a custom team in the upcoming patch or any future ones.

There will be some salary cap changes with the patch - details of the patch are to follow tomorrow afternoon.

What do you guys do when you kick out?do you play on? or kick to a player

it helps if you've got a big boot like Hurn for West Coast or Fletcher for Essendon you can aim for the half forward flanks and let rip, I usually have Cox on his own about 75m out and goes straight to him

Having a read of the manual, you want to get in the circle on the ground and that will give you more chance of getting the tap. And I assume it's when the ball is at it's highest, I am still yet to get the boundary throw in's much tbh.

I basically just use left stick to change where my guy is looking by a tiny bit, then hold x and try and get it to stop in the middle of the marker/blue thing?
No. First off, you are doing it right with the aiming, left footers pull the ball right and right footers pull it left. So you do want to aim and adjust for that.

But with regards to the power bar, you can empty it (fill it?) all the way, it's just that the more power you use on the kick the more it will pull.

My general plan is unless I'm 45+ metres out I will not completely empty (or fill?!) the power bar as it can result in some big arcs off the foot. But yeah, the more you power up, the more it will pull.

I like to change it up. Sometimes go for the play on and boot it as far as possible, or I will just go for the long option staying in the goalsquare.

Rarely choose the short option as I'm too scared of kicking it too hard/too soft and giving away a cheap goal (as I've learnt from doing this too much:o).
