Im a little bit of a states junkie so every year I fork out some cash and pick up the prospectus

Looking quickly over our teams numbers for the year we had 3 players ranked elite for their respected positions the first two being pretty stock standard

Dusty and Rance but the 3rd was a little left of field imo
It was our old made Shane Edwards I’m at work atm and don’t have the numbers infrount of me but I’m happy to update this with the numbers and comments they have attached and also if anyone wants to suggest a player to me I can give you the rundown of what the chaps at champion data have to say about them

Edwards is elite in what he does. As for players I’d love to know more about astbury/grimes/Prestia and lambert

Dylan Grimes is the best back pocket in the comp. I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

Edwards is elite in what he does. As for players I’d love to know more about astbury/grimes/Prestia and lambert

All rated in average except for Lambert who was rated above ave overall however

Astbury is Rated elite for intercept marks

Grimes Above Ave for intercept marks and possessions

Prestias numbers were all down across the board his worst numbers since 2012 so it looks like those injury’s really effected his form and has a lot of scope for improvement with a full pre season and also not being his first year at a new club

Here is a rundown of our list (according to champion data)

Elite
Dustin Martin
Alex Rance
Shane Edwards

Above Ave
Nick Vlastuin
Dan Butler
Trent Cotchin
Brandon Ellis
Daniel Rioli
Kane Lambert
Jack Riewoldt
Bachar Houli
Josh Caddy

Ave
Toby Nankervis
Dion Prestia
Shaun Grigg
David Astbury
Anthony Miles
Dylan Grimes
Sam Lloyd
Nathan Broad

Below Ave
Connor Menadue
Kamdyn McIntosh
Jayden Short
Corey Ellis
Jason Castagna

Poor
Oleg Markov
Reece Conca

Everyone else are unclassified at this point I think they need to have played a minimum of 10 games at afl level for a ranking in this section however they do have some info based on vfl form

Also remember just because a player is rated below Ave overall they may have a role that’s is hand to measure stats wise

Castagna for eg “His worth was through his defensive game forcing 73 opp turn overs through his pressure witch the tigers scored 69 points from, the 2nd most from the club if you combine his goals, assists and scoring from pressure then his impact on the scoreboard was more than 2 goals per game”

I don't care if anyone agrees with my personal rating or not however; One thing, I'm sure we will agree on is:

There's alot of upside to this team, which includes a large percentage under 23 of age.

HAPPY DAYS.

I guess a game style that shares it around, and relies on pressure leads to worse "normal" stats than just playing a vanilla style. Lots of very goodplayers we have that are average or worse.

And Cotch and Jack are much better than their rating. Still good to have.

Sheds was elite in the finals series. Watched the gf today and he was brilliant.
Was THE player who most swung the game in our favour during the 2nd quarter - so happy for him.

& with regards to elite players, who is and who is not...
We are an elite TEAM first and foremost, it's why we won last year. The ole champion team versus team(s) of champions.

& IMO it made the win all the more satisfying

Dylan Grimes is the best back pocket in the comp. I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.
It's all to do with fantasy footy though, at the bottom of each bio it will have something like:

Grimes is a fantastic stopper, but that doesn't equal points in fantasy land.

Like I’ve implied elsewhere: champion data is great for raw stats and determining how things happen, and fantasy is a bit of fun. But they run into problems when they try to quantify how good a player is. Shedda is probably worthy of elite status but CD rates him better than Cotch.

It's by position.

Edwards is elite for a mid/forward

Cotchin is a mid, and isn't quite in the top bracket that is elite.

Edwards elite :p:p:p Can toss that prospectus in the bin.
Or better still, put it up in the book shelf alongside To Kill A Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye, Don Quixote, The Count of Monte Cristo and Emma and those other great works of fiction!

They do it by position so you can compare different positions. Alex Rance would score considerably less than Dustin Martin, but CD considers them both elite because defenders typically score less anyway. Elite is elite and it is always better than above average.

Yeah I'm a massive SC head, so I'm aware of how it works.
It's rubbish that he gets lumped in as a general defender with all the chip scabbing flankers.

Going into '17 we had 3 "elite" players, Rance/Caddy/Edwards. the latter 2 as mid/fwds
