Would be awesome if that bet worked for ya mate! 3k+!!

Am I the only one that thinks Port is a real chance to topple the saints?

Round 1 in all honesty, should probably be a no bet round, as it's a new year, new coaches, new players, new game plans, new everything.. we won't really know what's what for a few rounds... Still won't stop me though! :D

Thanks mate ! Would be awesome.

I really think port have a good chance I really don't rate stkilda this year I think they are going to go downhill.Round 1
Is definitely a hard 1 but Adelaide at the line and west coast to win have to be the stand out bets.

Ok I'm fairly sure i have now placed all my bets for round 1. After originally planning on taking it easy for the first round i have gone with the following bets.

Adelaide H2H@2.00 (1U) Betstar
Adelaide -22.5@1.92 (0.4U) Sportsbet
Adelaide -60.5@5.80 (0.2U) Sportsbet

Basically which ever way you look at this match, it looks like an Adelaide win. They won easily late last year in their last matchup, Adelaides pre season form, Adelaide basically at full strength and Gold Coast without Bock. I think this one could be a big win.

Brisbane +16.5@1.92 (0.2U) Sportsbet WIN
Melbourne H2H@2.00 (1U) Betstar
LOSS

Ok well i went with the Brisbane line before Stynes passed away. Melbourne home game, Brown out plus Brisbane also being a young team (although i believe on the way up) against a fired up Melbourne team should see them get over the line. I'm hoping for Melbourne by 16 but will be happy to see them just get over the line.

Hawthorn H2h 1.95 (0.4U) Sportsbet

Really like the Hawks in this one. Collingwood have had a heap of injuries this preseason. Will be without a few stars with another few underdone plus a new coach. Hawthorn are fit and firing ready for this match after last years prelim final loss. No Tarrent to cover Franklin leaving the massive task on Reid who will also be without Maxwell pealing off his man to help out. Collingwood likely to debut 3 rookies as well.

StKilda H2H@2.00 (1U) Betstar

Plenty on here are keen on Port but Saints deserve to be favourites. I have been impressed with Port all preseason and i believe they are in for a better year but i'm trying not to go too much on preseason form. Port are young and will show glimpses but Saints should prove too experienced in this one. Hayes back is huge, should give Montagna a bit more freedom and give the StKilda midfield some much needed help. His leadership and toughness inside makes him one of their most important players.

Carlton H2H@2.00 (1U)Betstar WIN

It's fairly well known that Carlton have the wood over Richmond. Despite Carltons preseason, they are a strong team that are pushing for top 4 this year. A lot has been said in the media about them and i'm sure they are dying to get out there and get a win on the board early. No Jamison is a big concern in this one but at 2/1, it's a good bet. Will be close.

Eagles H2H@2.00 (1U) Betstar

Ok well i don't like betting on my own team and i wouldn't have if it wasn't for Betstars promo. Griffin out is a massive loss for the dogs, not only do they lose his quality but now Selwood will now go to either Boyd or Cooney. Another issue for the dogs is their forward line. Who will kick their goals? Jones will get our best defender and it's a big ask for him atm. Minson will have his hands full with Cox and Naitanui.

EDIT: Adding Melbourne/Brisbane total Points under 189.5 (1U) Sportsbet LOSS

-------------

As i have said, i went with extra bets than i usually would because of Betstars promotion. I'm not overly confident in all of those 5 h2h's but at the very least 3 should get up giving me profit. Good luck to everyone this weekend, can't wait.

$1.92 for a free bet is so, so dumb

Wrote the post up while at work today (no internet to post it). Have since read about the guaranteed way of winning with that bet so won't be taking the 1.92. I honestly hadn't thought to do that unfortunately.

Don't like any other bets as of yet to put it on so will hold off and keep it in the account for now.

Your definitely right Butler with Tarant and Maxwell Buddy is going to have a field day .for collingwoods sake hopefully they keep him around wing/midfield so it's a bit more of a close match.

I went Sydney, Hawks, Port +39.5, Adelaide paying just over $3

Also have gone
Syndey, Hawks, Eagles, North, Fremantle, Port +39.5, Adelaide -29.5, Brisbane (only need 6 to come though of the 8. Already have Syndye, so 5/7 to win a bit).

has anyone had much luck/ tried betting with 2-3 games, multi'd together using the quarter by quarter leader?

I remember reading the little 1 page spread each week in the Sun about gambling, and seeing some BIG money was made from $10 bets by doing this.

I did a mock trial one, Rich/Carl/Rich/Rich in to Pies/Hawks/Hawks/hawks which was paying $320 odd... put North/Ess/north/ess in aswell for a laugh, and the odds skyrocketed to 16K!

was thinking of doing two 50cent bets like this each week. gotta be in it to win it!

So you're saving it to put on something else? It should be used as a fairly significant, risk free bank builder by the looks of your unit sizes.

Most likely. My bank is comfortable enough to be able to take a calculated risk with it i believe. I'm not worried about people knowing the amount of $'s i put on. Once the season kicks off most of my bets will be around $50 with my confident bets being $100. It's not massive money compared to some others but it's enough. Unit size has been adjusted to suit.

First round for me is obviously smaller amounts (other than the promo bets) because it's always one of the toughest.

I've been thinking exactly the same thing mate. Just picking the qtr's for 3 or 4 games a week and betting $1. If you did it twice per round for the season it's only cost you $46 for the entire year, and like you said, depending on your odds you could get a nice little payout for stuff all investment!

If anything, it's a bit of fun at next to no cost, and it makes the neutral matches involved in your multi a hell of a lot more exciting! :thumbsu:

Wasn't having a go at your bet size, just saying that if i had the chance to increase my bank risk free by 4% (assuming 1 unit = 1% of bank) i'd do that.

It seems the average person could turn it into a guaranteed 50% cash of the free bet stake, which doesnt really seem worth it to me. There will be bets at $5+ that i will want to back eventually so may as well just keep it and place it on something at those odds when the time comes. $100 free bet x $5 = $400 return, where as $50 cash x $5 = $250. Seems like the smarter thing to do would be to just wait until you have a selection at reasonable odds that you want to back and use it like normal money then

Unless the free bet value is huge in comparison to what you normally bet

Multi:

Richmond +22.5 @ $1.65
Adelaide -22.5 @ $1.80
Geelong <39.5 @ $2.35
West Coast H2H @ $1.65

= $11.50

I actually feel the Carlton line -13.5 (TAB) is pretty good. Carlton has adequate covers for their missing players. Everyone is talking about Martin. I know he is impressive (have seen his game against Geelong) but Carlton have Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and others players that Richmond wont have a matchup for. Henderson did an alrite job on Jack last time they played right (Carlton would be happy to take 4 goals from Jack). Jamison didnt even play last time.
Will have a go at the line once the team is out.

Line will keep coming in IMO

I made a bet that included Carlton at $1.50 today because I thought once the teams are out and people start to put their minds on the game Carlton would be backed in, but no more than 5 mins later they moved to $1.55

Doesnt seem to be stopping for the tigers

Also noting all of Sportsbets lines for R1 are at even money at this moment

Is this a promo thing or what?

I've gone with:
- 1u Hawthorn ML @ 1.96
- 1u Adelaide -22.5 @ 1.92
- 1u Melbourne -14.5 @ 1.92
- 2u Adelaide ML @ 1.30
- 1u West Coast ML @ 1.69

Fairly sure of a Carlton win tomorrow night - will sit on that and see how far the odds get pushed out before having a crack.
