I really don’t mean to sound arrogant but I honestly had no idea Esssndon were that close to eighth, and I watch them pretty closely. This is the first time in my life where I’ve had the feeling of ‘oh that part of the ladder is so irrelevant’. Honestly, it feels good.

They could very well knock off the Tigers next week. Three losses by under a goal too. I ******* love a token Essendon finals appearance where they get belted interstate in the first week, it’s so good for the soul.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for their winless finals streak continuing.

They may never win a final again.

Legit Essendon could make finals. Games against Hawthorn, Adelaide (home), Norf, GWS (home), Sydney (home), GC and Collingwood to come.
Who do they replace? West Coast? Sydney?

Finishing 8-12 is actually terrible for Essendon, they're not in contention and it means they get an average pick. They by no means have all the pieces and they are still well and truly in a rebuild. Ideally they finish 14th with a good percentage and are in most of their games and they take pick 5 to the draft and land a superstar. Can see a scenario where Essendon finish 9th, Merrett leaves and they get pick 10 as compo, then package 9+10 to St.Kilda or Hawthorn for a top 5 pick. Saints need some young talent to start another rebuild it they're serious, Hawks have little talent and will want as many picks as possible in the 1st round to kick-start their rebuild. Essendon just can't fall for the trap of just making finals but losing first week every year again.

Wow, sounds like someone who is scared they will make the finals all of sudden. 😂

Who honestly scares you at this point?

For me:

1. Brisbane

Gap

2. Richmond

More significant gap

3. Port
4. WB

Gap

5. Sydney
6. Geelong

The rest : Not worried about
What scares me its your inability to accurately measure 'gaps' in comparison to 'more significant gaps'. I really feel there was a spots available for 'more gaps' and 'significant gaps' prior to your great leap forward.

I agree with this conceptually - I also think they should probably look to do what we did in ‘15 and flip their future first to get another first in this year. They’ve got a great group of kids forming and you want to keep piling talent on top so you have an awesome bracket eg 13-15 for us with Salem, Trac, Brayshaw, Oliver and Weid.

If you can't see the difference between my gap placement that's on you. I even left a note on each so simpletons like you would understand.

In terms of fear factor, I’m not scared of anyone. I still think the Dogs could light us up with Treloar in, but I also wonder if they may fall back to the pack with their vaunted injury list. If they drop 2 of the next three (Freo away, Geelong in Geelong, WC away) they’re right back in the top 4 dogfight.

This is weird, why did you disagree with my post in the general MFC discussion when I said don't be scared?

Make up your mind you flip flopping wanna be tough guy pansy! 😝

Nope.

As soon as you play the man you've already acquiesced.

Im not even concerned. Im genuinly not fearfull of any other clubs bar WCE (Over there, actually when is the last time we got to play them at the G in H and A?)
Richmond at 2? I honestly dont see how they can improve, surely after 3 flags they will off the cliff like Brisbane of old and Hawthorn more recently.
Sure when we beat richmond in April they weren't full streghnt and Dusty only played untill mid way through the 3rd but i dont see how Bolton (Who played in April btw), Prestia, Astbury come back and make a massive difference. We already know Down hill skier Lynch will be out for 6 plus weeks. (good)

Te be fair we werent at Full strenght either. I don't fear most team anymore. Our system is too good defensively

West Coast are done, too old too slow. No good side loses by 100+ points. Regardless of venue or injuries.

Their under 24 group is really ordinary. There's a few decent players in there (Allen, Brander, Waterman, maybe Witherden) but there's a lot of flaky types and barely anyone under 22 has played at the level.

When our arguments amount to whatever that gap disagreement was, we are in desperate need of TK.

I reckon the Tigers will get a bit of a run on when they get players back but it might be too late to nab a top 4 spot. Injuries are a part of footy though that need to be managed like anything else and ideally you have coverage.
